As of Sept. 2018, I primarily do full album reactions and music related livestreams, but you can also find here movie/music/tv show/book reviews, short/comedy films, original music and covers, and much much not more!
this album is quite good but absolutely isn't my favourite. I really love hot!hot!hot!; a thousand hours, just like heaven (of course) and If only tonight we could sleep but I think that Like Cockatoos is a masterpiece. I love it so much. You tried to understand what to feel listening to this song. It's individually of course but if to speak about my feelings...I don't know this song sounds like my inner anxiety and it feels so close to me,to my inner world(idk how to explain). I'm person with depression so maybe because of that i really love this song but it makes me feel everything like i never felt before.
They are making a new album called Artic Moon, so this isn't going to be their last. They have already released a single if you have heard it. It wasn't my absolute favorite, especially when compared with some of their earlier stuff but this album could make for a pretty solid one, I'm excited for its release!
I have loved Portishead since their first album.. I was only 15yr old boy but their musical style was something I never forgot..I loved every type of musical genres and lucky that I live in London with the amount of record shops then Portishead genre was TripHop a sound many people I know really do not understand but love groups like Massive Attack Morcheeba..
Essentially, Chameleons (brilliantly) apply playfully layered "echoey guitars", creatively abstract vocals, powerful drum beats and deeply melodic transitions in complex arrangements, that seems to contrast "ambient darkness" with an optimistic "anthemically soaring soundscape" that seems to evoke strong emotional connections in many listeners. Not many bands can do that !
I agree with the person that prefers Repetition. I like the latter half of LTIY, but they went in a different direction with it, so it's not really a good entry point for them, IMO. It's the most accessible of their albums though, I suppose.
I’m here to defend Glider…you heard the truncated version that is the most well known, however there is a longer rarer version (over ten minutes) where yes, it’s pretty much the same riff however it starts in a ‘different’ place and evolves. Kinda cool but I can understand why someone wouldn’t like it
Tremelo the best EP 100%. Some of those tracks could have fit on to Loveless with a slight production clean up. Pretty much agree with all your comments Alex, i wonder if by the 2013 album, MBV will transition from a band you like to one you love. I say this because you found value in some of the tracks here i didn't expect you to! Looking forward to seeing what you think to MBV (the album), as its really grown on me over the years 👍
Albums in the 80s were so embracing, coccooning, they would wrap you up in their vision. It was great, no matter if you were in a bed, at 90f degrees at 11pm.
i remember you did a teenage filmstars reactions way back. you really need to listen at least to their debut "star" because it's basically a piss take on mbv max 10, especially on the distortion, atmosphere and arabic influences on tremolo, and the overall sound of loveless
Such a fantastic song by one of the most underrated bands of the late 80s and 90s. Did you ever dabble in their music? Any album Real Ramona and prior is worth your time. Throwing Muses is in my top 3 favorite bands. I still listen to them to this day. Love the rawness and emotion released through their vocals as instruments. Powerful stuff. Yes, Tonya and Kristin are step sisters and it was Tonya involved in the Breeders and Belly. Kristin as a prolific solo career and tours frequently. Just love them. Thanks for featuring them!❤❤❤
The main difference on the two versions of Don't ask why is that the released one has an acoustic guitar since the beginning, lasting for a good amount of the song, while the unreleased one keeps the distorted guitar from the get go to the end.
I definitely hear a bossa nova touch to Moon Song indeed. I'm brazilian, i've listened to this genre millions of times, not that one needs to be born in Brazil to do so, but yeah, you were very precise by saying it. I just love this song, as well as I do love the song Sugar, it's so unique, bizarre, fascinating, but overall sweet and lovely. Maybe you could relisten to it and it will click more intensely for you? I'm so glad you liked this compilation. A lot of your comments seem to describe exactly what is going on with the songs and you surely got the feel, the sentiment of the weird, dense, dreamy and beautiful soundscapes Kevin is playing. Thank you a lot for this reactions. I'm excited to know what you'll think about the self titled from 2013. Cheers, mate!
You sound boring. You look like JD Vance with a hangover and what are you sniffing there halfway through? Ps. If you don’t get Adrian Borland you’re musically inept.
Something cool is the Farewell Fire was played in one take with no MIDI so one of the brother behind the band recorded 8 minutes of music and most of it isn’t even audible, something kinda poetic about that.
FYI. If you listen to this song, or any Radiohead really with one headphone on, you’re only hearing half of the tracks unless you set it to mono. The production is super pan heavy.
"Evening of Light," from the same album, is one of my favourite Nico songs, and for that reason, one of my favourite songs of its decade. "Frozen Warnings" has never been a favourite.
Felt is that kind of band you feel like a privileged of listen to. Beautiful guitar lines and memorable melodies. Thank you Lawrence for the moments you gave me. Stagnant pool, Spanish House, Primitive painters and many more, are some of Felt masterpieces.
