My grandmother sewed couture for Adrian's Beverly Hills Salon (1941-1952) after the left MGM. My Great-Aunt told me that a couple of he gowns my Grandma sewed were used in the films. She didn't say which films and I cannot believe I didn't ask her directly.
Gene London bought one of them . About ten years ago , he displayed his vast collection at a casino in Atlantic City . It was opened to the public free of charge .
@@robaronja5831 like the 2006 one was too simple and droopy but omg the 1938 one was just yasss like the costume look like they took 200 years to make too and the costume for the 1938 one are just better

Some of the costumes weighed 20, 30 or more pounds and Shearer practiced relentlessly at home with them, long before the movie started filming. It paid off; despite the ornate wardrobe and wigs, Shearer moves through every scene of the movie with almost balletic grace. The film opened to great success in July 1938, and it then looked like Scarlett O'Hara might be hers on a platter, but her fan clubs objected and Shearer gracefully bowed out of the running.
