10:15 ... do you see what this garabage plugin does????? He puts it into the loud part of the song on the Metric AB interface, but when he hits play the playback still plays the beginning of the song! That in a $200 plugin?????? That is 100% INEXCUSABLE, they need to refund all of everyone's money TODAY!
This plugin sucks, the playback modes all do random things that aren't useful... none simply sync the tracks and allow you to jump around the SYNCED tracks. Also the gain matching does NOT work... the ONE point of this plugin and it doesn't even work.
So just a dummy-question, if the phase is going tie OPPOSITE way of each other, that's when they cancel each other out? In other words, if you have a phase issue, you have to make sure that the waveform is similar on both tracks?
nice , but you can't use it like a NOICE GATE like the standard one in ableton live....like phill collings did in his song whte a gated reverb thats cuts off the rev . i was looking for a plugin that can do more then in ableton live but does not seem te be found anywhere.
Years later on Cubase 13 Pro same issue and your workaround tip is still working. Of course it works as intended on Nuendo 13 without having to do anything.
I work in cubase pro 12 but when i use the Vumt, set at -18, the cubase meter is in the red when I try to get the vumt to 0VU. I know it’s peak verses rms but one can’t ignore the clipping. What am I overlooking?
I've compared these carefully IRL via the trial periods. Don't own either. They are completely different, even when trying to match settings by ear. The Legacy is grabby, punchy, and doesn't pump. It's sound however is a bit congested in that plugin way. The new one sounds more hifi, open and wider stereo image, but the way it compresses is loose and pumpy. The Legacy is a more useful type of compression on a bus to me, just a shame we can't have the superior sound and fidelity of the new one with the better compression of the Legacy.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree they sound very different. Maybe if they had released two versions with the better sound fidelity that would have been good, because I can see different people preferring different versions.
Yeah, I like the compression of the new one too, it's just a different vibe than the original, settings have completely different results as well. @@kdwmixingmastering
Hi, I decided to use this plugin. But... When I calibrate sounds to -18 db, mix is so low. Everything is getting so weak. At the end of the mix what I am gonna do for making it loud?
This is level that I take a mix into mastering. If you want to do a quick mastering/volume boost just for presentation then put a limiter on the end of the chain and boost the volume. Otherwise this low level will get resolved in mastering.
Sorry I havent used this plugin for a while so I am not sure exactly how to do that. I would guess that you select all the little parts of entire note and just drag it across. If this is not possible then I would go back out of the plugin and split up the sections in your audio track note by note if needed and just move the notes manually. That is how I do timing issue corrections most of the time. I just find the problem areas in the track audio and split it up and start moving it around in very small movements by zooming in extremely close. I think I have a video on the channel somwhere that explains how I do tming issue correction.
UA's Century Tube Channel Strip plugin is a sleeper and is awesome in the Unison slot. Correct! The CTCS is not emulating any real world device. Instead, it's basically a combination of UA's 610 preamp and EQ (with added mid-band), and an LA-2A compressor, all rolled into a single, easy to use plugin. IMHO, the CTCS should be on every Apollo user's short list of go-to Unison plugins.
What do you think, can this vst function as a shortcut for mixing (especially gain staging)? So lets say you want to focus more on the 'creative part' of producing music like sound design, writing the track, arranging etc. can this plugin solve the problem or is it more like a toy?
It might be possible to do what you say but I could not in all honesty recommend it for that. I would hate for someone to spend money on something that might not do what they want. For me I didn't find it useful but I am not doing what you are looking for. If you can demo it then that would be a great option. For me to do what you state I would spend some time creating a template of tracks and effects that suit your setup and just pull that up every time you want to record and you would have a rough mix done straight away.
Thanks, yeah, I've tried Visual Mixer recently (i found there is a free trial of Neutron 4) , well I was quite dissapointed. One of the greatest mistake of that plugin is that it only works with Neutron 4, otherwise you are not able to use it, meanwhile Izotope advertise it as 'a free plugin' xd yeah, it is free but after the your 10-day free license of Neutron 4 expires, you cannot use Visual Mixer effectively for nothing. Obviously this plugin is not some kind of 'secret sauce', but (in my opinion at least) it would be a great tool for bedroom hobby producers, thats why I don't really understand the marketing strategy behind Visual Mixer.
Nice tutorial. I'll definitely start using Britson, now. Been neglecting it amongst my plugin collection. It sounds quite subtle in this example but here's to tweaking etc. Cheers!
Thank you for the slow....not choppy....tutorials. 95% of these type of videos on YT are waaaay too fast and not for the Novice. Subscribed!! Don't change your approach please.
Please help me understand. I thought the pre-gain controls the input level just like clip gain. However, I noticed that when the meter position is on input pre-gain doesn't affect the meter reading at all. This is with the channel strip in pre position as well. Could someone please clarify?
That surprises me as well. It sounds like the Pre-Gain control is just after the input meter. I personally prefer to use Clip Gain and not the pre-gain control. I did this video because someone requested that I use that control to show the technique.
@@kdwmixingmastering Seems you might be right about the pre-gain position, which is very disappointing. There isn't a single video about gain-staging I've seen that explains this and it's a very important caveat IMO. Using clip gain can get tricky when you have multiple clips, and if pre-gain doesn't control the input level, it's only useful for adding gain before the fader which doesn't help maintain an input level that bodes well of optimal headroom and control of the signal.
Hi I'm using cubase pro 12 and Inphase, but I don't have access to "plugin process" and I can't make "process" like into the video, could you help me please ?
just fucking buy and use it everytime....its the shit refuse <----- to mix without it i at least have 4-5 instances of this rolling on busses and my main mix bus sll bus comp ,pro -eq, spl vitalizer , L2 or simple limiter equivalent pull -6 db...done. every mix bus every fucking time the stereo expander and bas soft t-tight are the sauce crank the Stereo expander to 12 and jizz in your pants as you melt your competiors . dont for get tho process.....a tight bass 9 o clock, process 6 ish , stereo expand 10-12 holy fuck balls
You can do it as an FX but it isn't the original concept of the plugin. The purpose was to have it on each track individually. Having it on an FX track would mean that it will respond to all the tracks combined instead of individually. This would make it function more like the Buss version.
Just checking that you installed the plugin on either the Kick or Bass track and then do a send from the other to that track? You also changed the process drop down to Ch1/2 on A and Sidechain on B?
No. Mixing is an art not a science so technically there is nothing wrong or bad. If it sounds great then it must be right. The only issue you might have is Ozone can be very demanding on your system and if you use too many instances it might cause you problems. Otherwise if it works for you then keep doing it.
