Traditionally I think you may be correct. But in modern times you can buy them with pretty as well as many feet as you want. Nothing wrong with being pedantic, I'm the same! 🤣👍.
Hi Mark a very interesting "behind the scenes" video. The little jewellery box at the end was lovely. I think your range of items is pretty incredible. I hope it all sells. I'm looking forward to your next video as always. Congratulations on all your new subscribers. Very best wishes, Sarah 😊
Nice little insight into the way you operate and the clearing of those items we put to one side for a little bit to long. My ephemera stock would keep me going for months trying to sort it it all, but I’m determined to a get a few more tubs full bagged up and priced.
I think you are correct about the impression made by using recycled wrapping rather than new, however, if you put something on the web site to say that you use recycled wrapping material whenever possible for environmental reasons and to keep postage costs down, then I think people will be ok with it.
Hi Walt. Yes, agreed. In fact I do have a statement on the website about my green packaging policy. However, I accept for now that it's a bit of a gamble with returning customers. It may be something I reassess in the future?
Yes, you're correct. I have a lot to learn about costume jewellery to say the least! I'm looking forward to going through it all in a strange sort of way? Definitely a change to the norm! 😁👍
Pop auctions can throw up all kind of things, really good antiques to run of the mill items, but they are often the place to pick up cheap deals. Whether it was a dealer or a collector who got the coins, they either got a cheap buy for the collection or a cheap buy for profit!
Absolutely correct Steve. It all depends whose there on the night as well. I often find myself bidding against the same dealers so prices can edge up, making the items not viable for resale. It's frustrating but just a fact of life unfortunately.
Interesting items couldn't make auction hate missing auctions coins I wouldn't have a clue i am at the moment reading about ceramic marks and identification so much to learn knowledge is paramount i believe you could spend a lifetime learning about antiques
Hi Mark another very interesting video. The coins were my favourite. I was way out on the prices though. Either too high or too low. I thought the coins would sell for more. I'm look forward to your next video as always. Sarah 😊
Nice inkwell looks quality ive got to go further afield for stock as im just sticking to local events thinking of selling car and getting van so i can buy larger items furniture etc but got to figure out where to sell large items just wish i had your experience and wisdom
Hi Mark. All wisdom is gained by time, experience, successes and mistakes, in fact many mistakes in my case! 🤣. Personally I'd try a couple of larger items first. Stools and plant stands can sell well as they're practical, which is en vogue at the moment. They'll also fit in your car 😁👍.
Hi Mark, congratulations on your new subscribers! I really love the wooden jewellery box and the tray. They're two really lovely items. I think this is one of your best hauls. I hope all the items find good homes. Very best wishes, from Sarah 😊
Hi - I'm sorry but I haven't sold on eBay for a couple of years now, as I have my own e-commerce website, so I don't have any up to date information on eBay listing. I would suggest you Google the question, 'How do I add an eBay custom specific?' Regards, Mark.
@@antiquescentral ahhhh awesome and gotcha sorry about that didn’t even realize how long ago this was posted. But thanks for the reply back with some info! Much appreciated
those people are robbing bstards! they pay pretty much nothing for your items and are basically cashing in big time on peoples ignorance! the clue is in the name "cash cow"
That's definitely one way of looking at it! I can't comment on expensive, quality items as I only sent them what amounted to 'bric-a-brac' which they pass on to props buyers for next to nothing or even end up donating to charity according to their customer support. Having used their service I would personally only sell high value items privately or through specialist auctions.
Hi, Mark thank you for sharing. Nice little auction house you have there. All ours small auction houses have closed over the years. Only the bigger auction houses are left with internet bidding. Takes the fun out of finding bargains. Really enjoyed your video 🏴👍
Another great video as you know I was there at auction I actually won the two job lots containing batmobiles and boats ,you mentioned one but filmed past the other I paid £24 for both lots did put them on eBay as 1 lot on auction actually ended last night went for £68 everything over is a profit
Hi Mark another great video, a big variety of items. I would say go with your instinct. If you think the item is good value or on trend, take a chance. I'm looking forward to your next video as always. Very best wishes, Sarah 😊
Thank you Riaan, I appreciate your positive feedback. Plenty more videos on the horizon! I will add South Africa to the subscriber community. Regards, Mark 😁👍
Hi Jayne. Thank you. It's an interesting question. Based on my experience I would say that Vintage Cash Cow would be my last resort to sell anything. For low value items they're probably on a par with a car boot but without the hassle of getting up early and all the travelling. I can’t comment on high end items such as gold, watches etc as I haven't sent any to them. At the end of the day, they're a business and have to make a substantial profit on any transactions, so any price they offer will likely be considerably lower than a private sale you might make. Hope that helps. Regards, Mark.
Great info mark did a carboot other day just to get used to selling my feelings were mixed after the swarm went away after opening boot i Enjoyed some of it,bored for some of it and apprehensive for most of it however come away with £76 i stopped there 3and half hours i took dead stock nothing major bric a brac mostly a small step i guess
@@antiquescentral I sold some general goods and some low rated antiques, beswick ,some die cast some treen nothing major because I don't reckon i would have got the price i would have asked for at a car boot basically items that were sitting in my garage for ages
Excellent. Sounds like you shifted some old stock. Your next challenge is selling at an antiques fair! You could try Blakedown, Catshill, Stourport or Kidderminster 😁👍
Hi Mark another great video. It's always surprising how many different things you have to take into account. I hope you will be able to do more videos like this one. Very best wishes as always. Sarah 😊
Thanks Sarah. I don't think this type of video is as popular as the buying, selling and haul videos so I may have to limit them for now unless they get liked and shared more?
@@antiquescentral I hope they do take off. I agree with the first comment about a research video because tastes change so quickly. I will keep my fingers crossed that you are able to do more, but I will watch your videos whatever the subject. 😊
That's about what I expected 😁. I sent a couple of boxes a few weeks later and the offers were so low I had them returned. I don't think they're interested in the bric a brac and I don't blame them! 🤣
Hi, Mark . More reselling educational video's please. Not enough antique and collectables resellers talk about the true grit of reselling. Buying right seems to work has more customers are bungling items together for a much cheaper price. Researching would be a good video has I find it interesting how all generations are buying differently in today's market . Mark thank you again for sharing your passion in antique and collectables 👍
A very thought provoking video I will be getting a part time job for 3 days a week so I don't have to earn as much reselling as for eBay I do sell on eBay and I do watch a few RU-vidrs who show their weekend profits or earnings and it still confuses me how they achieve this as I find it very very slow to sell would you say it was because they have literally over 1000 followers they are not selling antiques just stuff maybe just win lottery instead😁😁😁
It's an interesting question Mark. What type of stock are they selling, is it everyday essentials or antiques and vintage? I'd be interested to know who you watch?
@@antiquescentral I watch nic and Andrea hills and George Ross I do have them in my saved sellers it's clothing, Lego, media, old video recorders, camera's ,mostly some older things but nothing like you deal in they do give good info to do with eBay that's the main reason I watch most of their videos is them filming what they get at carboots or jumble trails fair play to them but it baffles me, when i was made redundant i wasn't sure what to do always been interested in antiques always watching drew pritchard or antiques road trip and antiques road show but it was watching your videos that made me give it a go
You should check out the Antiques Arena RU-vid channel. He works incredibly hard and sells a lot of antiques through the sheer volume he lists on his website.
Hi Mark a very interesting and thorough video. I think it would be a sound start for anyone wanting to start up their own business. I'm looking forward to the next video as always. Very best wishes, Sarah 😊
Hi - Thanks for your comment and I'm pleased you enjoyed the video. I hope you are staying safe during this awful time? If you have subscribed, I can add Ukraine to the digital subscriber list that appears at the end of each video. No worries if not. Stay safe, regards, Mark.
@@antiquescentral I am an antiques dealer, but I am currently serving in the army. I would be very pleased if you could add Ukraine to the list. Your videos are very informative
@MrRapota Thank you. I will add Ukraine onto the next video. We are all thinking of you. The channel has a small but friendly community and we welcome you on board! Regards, Mark.
I personally just buy weird, interesting, unusual stuff I like, I regularly get told you have the weirdest stuff (usually a different four letter word after weirdest) to which I reply "That's a compliment". My advice is have fun, josh with the buyers, keep a stall that looks like it's just survived an earthquake and don't price anything...
