That first segment reminded me of a test question in my acoustics class - something like "look at this apartment floor plan and make recommendations on how to improve acoustic isolation for the residents" ...and then gave us the worst layout I've ever seen 😂 HVAC units right outside the windows, an elevator up against the living room wall, a communal trash chute in the hallway that bumps into the bedroom, TV mounted to the shared wall, I don't remember what else. One of those "the longer you look, the worse it gets" situations. Great video; loved the insights and even though I'm not in an apartment now, a lot of this applies to my small home studio as well!
Nobody have sense the circular form as well as the pi symbol found at the stone henge . Intionally leaving a knowledge on how to calculate circumference . Two post with one above signified pi . Its mathematical legacy provided for the new generation
@dimoscondos I think the bigger story here is design concept and execution rather than gear. And the warm stuff is pretty far down the list in a place like this.
How do you get black instruments like the synths to be white and still have all the correct lettering on it? ....I realize some companies make white editions, but not all of the stuff here comes in white. I ve been wanting to do this but didnt know it was possible or how?
@haverstickdesigns thanks! If anyone knows a good key term search, to look for a local one in my city, I'd appreciate it. I'm not having any luck searching "custom wraps" "tech wraps" and others. I'm in a large city.
Fantastic episode and beautiful studio. Do you recall what headphones she uses on the desk? I know the Sony 7506’s underneath but are they M50’s on top?
Awesome space Gavin! It took me back when you were talking through the design options. Glad you got it worked out in the first few options. Haverstick Designs does not disappoint!
@@ruby2thursday This is very true. A good design can actually end up saving you money in the long run, but construction costs definitely make up the majority of the cost for a project like this.
@@haverstickdesigns - would you mind an email/DM to lay out some of my thoughts on general costs? I'd love to have someone with experience set my expectations of reality into proper context.
@@ruby2thursday Absolutely! Would love to talk with you about it. Go ahead and send me an email at ryan@haverstickdesigns.com and we will get a call set up. Thanks, and talk soon!
Speakers are positioned w respect to the room, not the listener. The room in the example is too small for high fidelity use. Speakers are positioned for imaging, not frequency response.
For home recording studio owners, having the ideal room size/shape is often not an option. That being said, with proper acoustical treatment and speaker placement, professional recordings and mixes can be accomplished in small rooms. I would also say that speakers are placed for imaging AND frequency response. Speakers placed in the wrong location can absolutely impact frequency response, so both need to be considered. Thanks for watching and the comment!
congrats on building it yourself it feels good there buddy i'm in the process of doing that mine is 700 square feet also thank you for sharing god bless
Hey Everyone! We saw a couple of comments mentioning us alluding to another Twenty One Pilots album. We are not involved in the album process or release schedules for the artists that we work with. We were referring to future albums that any of our other artists may release this year. Thanks for watching!
How does Tori get clean vocal recording singing in an open space like that. I also watched her recording of Bridge Over Troubled Waters with Jacob Collier. How is the sound controlled?
Thanks so much for watching and for the comment! There is quite a lot of acoustical treatment in this room. All of the hexagon panels on the front wall and ceiling along with the corner bass traps and side wall first reflection panels coupled with the Flex-48 Adaptive Treatment System on the walls and the Barrel Diffusers on the ceiling makes for a well-controlled room.
Biggest setback with atmos is everyone's listening binaurally on headphones and it's just not the same. I don't know how that can be addressed, technologically
