High school was a difficult time for me I was a foot shorter than the girls 40 lb overweight with crooked yellow teeth and a bad case of gas the ugliest girl in school would not give me the time of day so predictably I played with myself a lot and over time went blind
I saw these guys open for Judas Priest at the Palladium in NYC back in 1978 and they were booed off the stage. Early Judas Priest fans were a hardcore bunch.
Apparently while opening for UK, they were booed and the lead singer got into a fight with people from the audience. It was 1978 too, in Chicago. Prog fans couldn't stand them either it seems
i have no idea why we included heart shaped box dont bring me down or steppin stone or draggin the line the line to our set .we just j used. to jam to them at rehersals
Cool video and awesome concert as always with Cheap Trick🙌🙌 I saw them in MN a week later inside tho a small club venue…almost identical playlist…fun to see the outdoor version…and if Robin needs to wear a vest cut down to there and pull his beautiful blonde hair back and we see more of his gorgeous face, I fully support that 🤗😍🔥🏁🖤
At Old Chicago they had a lot of metal folding chairs on the main floor. The house lights were on. People gathered for the band sitting quietly in the chairs. The moment the Ramones hit their first note there was a mad rush up to the stage with people getting all tripped up on the chairs folding like big steel mouse traps
I love that 97.1 chicago still plays broadway ONCE IN A BLUE MOON. Thats how I discovered these guys as a young RnR fan. “Full moon turn my head around” came on the air when I was working so I spent an hour trying to figure out what song it was. I eventually found that stations playlist history and found the song from there
I personally think that clips foice was one of the best and most recognizable voices in all of pop rock music. Masterfully crafted songs. I don't know why they didn't become as big as cheap trick or the cars. Miss u Cliff 🙏
IM GUESSING THIS IS THE SHOW IN WEST CHICAGO THAT I WAS AT....GREAT TO FINALLY SEE THEM AGAIN AFTER THE HIATUS.... SO SAD THAT CLIFF PASSED... TRAGIC....
I had the honor of playing drums for a one-off show with Cliff years ago. We had one rehearsal before the show, after which he seemed visibly impressed with my playing and paid me one of the best compliments I've ever received as a musician, saying that I served the songs, not myself. Just recently discovered that sadly he's no longer with us....great guy and an absolutely legendary band.
The date is wrong, as The Angels didn't tour the US in 1979. This footage is actually from 26 April 1980 at the Park West, Chicago during the Face To Face tour.
Epic. These guys were one of the 1st bands I saw live. They opened up for Toto during the Hydra tour. It was at the Holiday Star Theater in Merrillville IN, which later became the Radisson. What a great memory.
My cousin worked at Old Chicago. My uncle moved to Boilingbrook when there was hardly a home built there. Old Chicago for a kid was like Willy Wonka...loud as heck tho inside
