Gotta be honest, I wasn't really watching the intro at all, so when I heard the first run through I thought "Huh that sounds a little different, I wonder what hammers theyre using" needless to say I was taken aback when I saw some spoons...
I'm his daughter and I miss him. It's been awhile since I heard his music or voice. I have his hammers and CD. Seems surreal. He'd visit me on his way home yearly from Evart.
This was wonderful... but showed why up until recently mountain dulcimers were not ensemble instruments but instead played solo for the most part. Unless mic'd or otherwise electrified (which we now have) they get lost in a group due to relative lack of volume. Lots of fun happening though... Cheers!
I just watched this today for the first time. Wow. What a beautiful community effort! For some reason, I had a very emotional response to this video, but in a good way. Maybe I will try to get up to Evart one of these days. Seems like a very positive experience.
so happy you ended your set with my favorite tune. Ps the chromatic runs you put in it were over the moon cool. And your other musicians were fabulous in your set, too.
