I use 3m surface cleaner for resin , to remove acrylic paint . Leave them in for about an hour , take out , clean with an old tooth brush and they come up Good as new .
Looks like a decent kit, shame to have to hide all that interior detail. And nice work on that decal, looked a tricky customer, ended up looking great 👍🏻👍🏻
Yeah it's a nice kit with a few minor issues but what kit doesn't have a few minor issues! Decals ended up looking great despite my ham fistedness messing it up 😅
That is a big ol' box 🤯 i know what you mean about the colours in the manual, great manual but like you said the colour listings are so spread out, i got a little notepad and wrote down the code and colour so i could easily quickly refer to the required colour. The flying/landed options are good addition. Good amount of detail on the parts. And the main body looks huge 😅 looking forward to seeing how this turns out
I tried using this method and it worked well. However I wanted to remove paint and keep the colour of the plastic (blue) underneath. The paint was removed but the dettol changed the colour of the plastic underneath, sort of bleached it. Of course I can paint this bit too, but now must paint the whole body, something I wanted to avoid. So if using this method just bear that in mind.
I'm currently building this kit! It's my first car kit but have been building models for quite a while. Really enjoying it so far and contemplating using the body shell for an rc drift car
I did exactly the method on a 1/72 spit that I had been using as a paint mule, so several layers, all Humbrol enamel, and I ended up with a perfectly clean model with fillers untouched. I used neat dettol and no scrubbing required.....amazing!
No you can use straight dettol. I just added some water to make sure the car was fully submerged. 24hours will usually do it but it depends how thick the paint is. If it's mega thick it might need longer with a scrub in-between.
1st viewer boom! Looks like a decent kit. Shame there are no dash dial decals, hand painting then will be challenging.. underbody is abit basic.. it anniys me when the exhaust is cast into the underbody. Wheels look super sick though 👌🏼
Yeah little to no detail underneath. I wish Aoshima would redo some of these older kits. They must sell well because they reissue them all the time. They just keep adding new parts to them.
Also, is the white layer just the spray paint removed? Or is it also the normal layer, and is the white just the plastic? Because i did not paint my plastic parts, and im wondering if it will take off the paint without damaging it
The car in the video was sprayed with Tamiya pure white and the stripes were Tamiya acrylics. The plastic was also white. If you haven't painted your plastic parts there's a good chance it's just moulded in coloured plastic. You should be able to prime and paint over them if that's the case.
Yeah if it's came straight out of the box it's probably just the colour of the plastic that they've used so it probably won't have any paint on it at all. Unless it's a prepainted kit. If the plastic is a drastically different colour to the colour you want to paint it just make sure you prime it well so it doesn't shine through your paintwork.
@Glue Sniff Garage Yeah, it came straight out of a box, no one painted on it, its jut the plastic it came in is like navy, and i want to paint it white
looking at this on ebay wondering if it's decent being a cheaper tamiya kit, Ofc it's crisper than walkers cheese and onion. Why do i even doubt tamiya? even their early 90s kits are still the equal of most kits from the last year or two
The kit instructions call for Mr hobby paints and will give you the Mr hobby paint codes. The body is Mr hobby #2 black and #3 red. If you are using spray cans for the body I'd recommend Tamiya spray cans. Tamiya gloss black ts-14 and Tamiya bright red ts-49 seem to be about the right colours. I'd also recommend getting a can of Tamiya silver leaf as the interior is all aluminum/steel and it's a good colour match. 1999.co.jp/eng/m/image/10696712 Check out this link and it'll give you detailed photos of the instructions and you can see what other colours you need.
It's a great kit, you can really go nuts and be creative with it lots of different ways you can go with them. Thanks very much! I don't do them as often as I'd like to so I don't upload regularly. Hopefully be doing some build videos soon. I'm from Glasgow.
I'm from a place called temple in Glasgow but I live in neilston now just past Barrhead. Christ the last time I was in Motherwell I think they still had a wimpy! I'm always posting on Instagram I'm never bloody off it.
