How do I perform the tool-assisted speedrun (TAS) on Mario superstar baseball if I ever had that? Can someone explain to me about how do I perform that TAS
It’s crazy how extremely precise you need to be with so many factors to do these challenges. This is not even close to being humanely possible in this time frame.
Requires too much RNG really, ironically more RNG than even Mario Party. I mean if you're ULTRA precise you can control the direction the ball flies when batting, which is what games like barrel batter and Home run derby are for practicing, but a lot of times you need the computer to play along and the most RNG based mission in the game, Catch a Booted ball is as luck as luck can get. Though if you know which characters have bad catching stats (hidden stats, there are a ton of them) then it can help a little. Fortunately Baby Mario's not the best catcher anyway.
in retrospect, it's kinda funny how the game has all of these interesting and sometimes self-sabotaging challenges to unlock new recruits for the team, ("Drop a squeeze bunt!" "Make a sacrifice fly!") when simply(?) crushing the opposing team by 10 points just recruits all of their players instantly.
Yeah, in a casual playthrough, sometimes it's slightly better to just unlock the characters without unlocking the main captain so you can play more games, though Bowser can play unlimited games against all captains, he can never recruit captains and sub captains, making some particular ones quite infamous (Luigi, Bowser Jr and King Boo all need to be MVP in the final game, and Mario only gets so many chances at pitching a perfect game and...Diddy's wall catch....yeesh.)
This is an extremely impressive run! Every game is completed in the minimum number of batters for both teams. The only possible improvement I can see is trying to hit a single every time, and then a grand slam for the 10th run, because doubles take longer to play out. Did you try to do this and found it wasn't possible?
For speed purposes homeruns are actually bad because of the animation/celebration after. Also if you ended on a Grand Slam the bases would be empty which makes it slower to get your 3 outs you need to end the inning.
I see a few of these achievements are "smack more than 2 hits.... steal more than 2 bases....." etc but the achievement is counted on the screen when only 2 hits are made or 2 bases are stolen (1:37:17). Was this like a mistranslation or something? is the acheivement really smack AT LEAST 2 hits or steal AT LEAST 2 bases? I'm confused. Thanks in advance for the help
Not trying to be rude, but don’t you think that it would have made more sense for King Boo to be the MVP of the last game for Wario, Luigi to be the MVP of the last game for Peach, and Birdo to be the MVP of the last game for Yoshi? Only saying that because no one gels well with Wario’s team except for Bowser’s team and the Koopas and Goombas.
@@jfm5864 This, in a new save playthrough, you'd get King Boo as MVP in Hard when unlocking Special for the first time, then just have to do it twice for Luigi and Birdo (as Bowser will be fresh no matter what and cover Bowser Jr).
3 of the 4 runs are played on Special Cup (the hardest difficulty), because the game locks you out of certain goals based on difficulty. The 4th is played on Star (2nd hardest) because it avoids having to watch the credits an extra time.
Mario Sluggers makes it a bit clearer as you'll see the stats change, but basically it just adds 1 point to every stat. That's all. The stat variance is negligible for most of the major stats, it's usually the hidden stats that make a far bigger impact on the game, like throwing speed, catch rate, throw power, reach, as well as things ilke swing speed, bat length, hit curve, etc etc etc. TONS of hidden stats that actually do NOT reflect the stats you see on screen (The Fielding stat for example is misleading. Many characters with a horrible fielding stat are actualy excellent fielders and many with a good fielding stat are quite slow, I think it only really considers catch rate but doesn't factor things like throw speed and throw power which are far more important, it also doesn't factor abilities well as Birdo has sub average fielding yet has the BEST extended catch in the game as it almost never fails and unlike Magikoopa, it's instant and has great vertical range unlike Yoshi's).
Will you be doing another TAS since the all superstars category was rerouted or is this still the most optimal route for tool assisted runs? It feels like it’s been a long time since I’ve seen this run but it’s still amazing to watch.
@jfm If I have Mario superstar baseball then for sure I can beat every single cup on mushroom cup, flower cup, star cup and special cup and I can make every character superstars
@@user-bs6lw4fr4r The Kongs have an ability called “clamber” that lets them climb the walls of the stadiums and make catches that would otherwise be impossible. As you can guess, this is very situational, especially for someone as slow as Donkey Kong.
@@meko750 Yoshi also has Clamber for SOME reason.... he looks odd doing it too, but I guess Yoshi can climb walls. Thankfully he doesn't have to catch the ball that way.
The two numbers displayed on the right are the run and hit counters. A “hit by pitch” (aka “bean ball”) does not count as a hit in baseball (similar to a walk). The double zeros represent zero runs and zero hits correctly. It would not count as a perfect game, however, it would count as a no-hitter.
@@GlitchCityMissingNo Barrel Batter separates the pros from the MVPs. That game requires mastery over batting timing and absolute respect. Ironic how barrel batter in sluggers was nerfed to just be timing rather than timing and angle since Sluggers removed the ability to bat lower or higher.
Awesome TAS - i've had this game for years and played it a ton and I literally never knew that if you mercy a team you automatically get all their players!
False, you need 10 points of lead from your opponent example if bowser do a grandslam you need to do 14 runs since he has 4 runs, that only applies for win with a shutout (no runs from opponent) missions.
For a casual player you generally don't want to do that though, as you want more chances to get all the stars for every character. once you recruit the primary captain, you can no longer play in that stadium. Bowser can play an indefinite number of times but he can never recruit captains and sub captains, so it really is more useful for getting all the star missions for sub captains. Like Diddy's Clamber.
It's less that they are bad and more that Peach, Bowser, and Wario are kind of forced to be captains in 3/4 of the minimum playthroughs in the run due to specific goals they have, which leaves Yoshi, DK, and Mario as the remaining options for the final playthrough. Yoshi's starting location makes him the most optimal, as he starts in the most out of the way point and pretty cleanly goes through the whole map in a big circle, edning on Bowser.
