I’m really thinking about going this way I’ve been reluctant to buying the big six because I felt I would be limited with external gear but with the flock it seems everything would be one click to just swap between chains
It's a hybrid set up. I mix in Logic first, then I move to the Big Six. Drums often go left and right on two mono channels of the Big Six, main vocal and bass take the other two mono channels, then mixing or summing stems, if needed on the remaining stereo channels.
Little bit more than that actually, since you can't see the whole studio in this vid. You are welcome to see better description of my studio on my web site at: www.doykinmusic.com/doykin-studio
What is having the flock and big six together do actually fam?I just got the big six and im running everything thru it lol What does the flock add do to make it better?
The Flock is basically an analog patch bay , but with digital routing. So all my analog outboard gear and all my synths are connected to the Flock and then to the Big Six. I can put and chain together any of my analog units and synths to any of the four super analog inserts or the master bus insert of the Big Six. Also assign any synth or pre amp to any channel of the Big Six, all from the software window of the Flock, without connecting cables.
@@DoykinMusic Wow!!!Now i see…Definitely more convenient than a regular patchbay…Im just at a point where im trying to minimize looking at the computer screen…For now ill still connect these cables via the old patchbay way lol…You got a dope studio setup though fam… Do you got any videos showing how you route on your flock?
Hey Asen, I hope you are doing great. I have a question for you. I bought the Pro44Hv2 which sounds great but the build in microphone it's to quiet that being said I don't have to much gain and then I noticed that the standard input level is -25dBV. How you fix this issue because it sounds great in your video and I can reach that input level by adding like a 44 dB but I get too much noise. If you have an advice about how I can possible fix it. It will be greatly appreciated.
Hello, not sure why you are having some noise issues with your Pro44H. For this video I plugged mine from the quarter inch output of the melodica directly to my Apogee Quartet interface, going thru the mic preamp of the Apogee. What kind of audio interface are you using to record? Do you use a mic pre?
No hardware effects for this recording . All effects are Universal Audio plug ins in Logic while recording. On the melodica I have Dream Verb and Galaxy Tape Echo.
I’m amazed at how well you’ve managed to switch from the jazz idiom to classical/sacred organ improvisation. This is especially difficult for a hardcore jazz player such as you and it shows how good a musician you really are!
Thank you! To be fair, I've been working as an organist for more than twenty years now at Bethany Lutheran Church in Queens in New York. I've been always fascinated by any type of improvisation styles, not only in the jazz idiom, and I often improvise the postlude after service at the church. My pedal skills are modest, but sufficient for the Lutheran Hymns I have to play each Sunday. All the best.
I’m impressed with how goods it sounds ran direct because other passive instruments such as electric guitars, especially compared to a bass guitars, do not typically sound all that great when run direct because the impedance of a guitar pickup isn’t optimized for D.I. One thing about the Valente the is so interesting to me is the lack of onboard preamp. It makes me wonder what amplifier would be the most complimentary to the Valente. I wish somebody with a collection of tube guitar amplifiers would let you try that piano through them and document the results.
Asen, you are incredibly talented. I enjoy all of your playing that I hear. I have one question: how does the Valente Piano compare to the Vintage Vibe Piano?
Thank you! The VV piano has more responsive action. I think it is just a better instrument as a music instrument . But then it is twice as expensive . That being said , the Valente piano is great electric piano with unique character.
Yeah the way their website insists they don't provide legs is weird..and if you want to people to showcase design, provide some fitting legs for gods sake..
