Keep going Chloe, get the math, physics, and science done. Then go get your Welding Engineer stamp and be the ultimate voice in welding. You are setting the standard already, good job.
Thank you for explaining some of the ins and outs of welding. I’m enrolled in a California community college, Shasta College in Redding CA this summer, beginning welding. No experience whatsoever, in fact I spent a fortune on a liberal arts college degree and have gotten nowhere career wise in all of that time (26 years!!). I want a skill that is highly technical to give me an edge. I was surprised to learn that there is “book work,” in welding. Math definitely isn’t my strong suit, but it’s a challenge that pays off. Builders create and leave their mark. 🎨
Very cool and amazing insight into the production. I still wonder how they make sure the seamless pipe is welded at the exact right spot to the track so the rotation is perfect and aligns with the other pipe end on another track.
You're missing on 2 important buildings. The Block assembly and Grand Block shop where all the pieces from the prefabricated shops come into ship shape before the dry dock.
As a welder as an inspector as a teacher ask somebody that's been affected by politics as somebody that's been affected by technology and overreach. I know this is got to be personally offensive to a lot of welders and a lot of welders just don't care because it hasn't affected them, yet. Like Lincoln welding, and as a member of the AWS... I was skeptical and Larry. Fast forward years later. The common welder hasn't been dealt a fair deal. The wage of the welder entry-level has gone down while electricians has gone up. Not fair! I don't see this ending correctly
I’m a project manager in cybersec and I bet I’m getting replaced by AI long before a robot can perform some of these intricate non-repetitive welding tasks. You’ll always need welding experts- it’s a job for the future.
