I create professional maps for print publishing. As a designer-turned-cartographer, I like to share tips and techniques with other designers who need to create maps and want them to look great. I also offer a custom mapping service through my website. Most of my RU-vid videos use QGIS and Adobe Illustrator.
GREAT tuturial Let's have a new video on this topic. I would like to see how to create a round island-style map base in 3D projection👈 We're waiting Thanks
Hello, can some HELP me please? I downloaded a USGS10m GeoTiff from Opentopology, placed it in qgis, loaded OSM and want to extract the map image accordingly to the region of the Geotiff and export the image of the map alone. Thank you
@@jesszimmerman684 Yes. Actually I'm manually giving height values for the polygon. But in extruded geometry it is not providing me option to take attribute column. Please help
Is there a way to go about adding buildings from gis data sources? What about shape files to layout defined areas? I'm looking to create some "cartoon style" maps similar to what theme parks use.
Merci pour vos tutos ,j'ai acheté votre ebook que j'adore mais Adobe Illustrator est payant, pouvez vous nous proposer des logiciels gratuits qui vont nous aider à faire les exercices de votre ebook. Merci
Is there historical road data somewhere? I've found aerial photos here and there, but wondering if anyone has stitched together pre-WWII, pre-highway road layers for US and Europe.
I honestly don't know. You can probably find old maps, with those roads, but you'd have to trace the roads in QGIS -- not fun. Or maybe georeference the old map.
@@jesszimmerman684 I found it through closing the software and opening it again...but i got another problem, the outcome isn't the same, the shades aren't as dark as yours
I love the resulting look. This has helped me a lot. It would be nice if there was a way to add a color ramp such that above 8,000 feet it shades from tan to green, and maybe from 11,000 up it shades into white.
Thanks a lot for this video. Open City Model only works for US cities. OneGeo site is promoted by OSM Buildings site. But, what happens if the data is incomplete? If some buildins are missing? Do we get a refound?
