BlueWorld_plus is the new channel for Extras, VLOGs and Behind-the-Scenes content from Jonathan Bird's Blue World (@BlueWorldTV). We also have some special content for aspiring (and certified) scuba divers including SCUBA 101 and TECH WITH TODD!
I am a Scuba Instructor with thousands of dives, in many parts of the world. I have made many cavern dives in N FL. ( where you can see the glow of dayligh). In some of the caverns, when it turns into cave, there is a gate with a sign. It you are not CAVE certified, it you go beyond this point……..YOU WILL DIE. Thought hard about getting cave trained/certified. The answer was no. Not willing to invest the time, and money into it. It is a major commitment. You also clearly leave the world of recreational diving and enter the world of TECH diving. You also commit yourself to a clearly higher level of risk. No question. I fully respect cave divers, but not for me. And despite my experience and professional level of training, I wouldn’t even think of entering a cave without the extensive and specialized training.
Man, What a living legend!! If I ever got caught in a cave system and knew I wasn’t getting out in time.. It would bring a whole sense of peace, just to know that it was Ed who was coming to get me!! At least then, I’d know that at I wouldn’t just be left behind until the end of time !.. The diving community is extremely lucky to have such a great guy to call on. Especially when everything else has failed, and nobody else seems to be able to pull it off!!
I can't believe I'd never stumble across these videos while I've been on RU-vid these are phenomenal As someone who could never swim that good or Never really taught by anyone the stuff fascinates me underwater life Scenery and Discoveries and Ed is a super hero God bless you sir Edd*
That had to be a fun but sketchy dive. A mask with an integrated system like an older one but update would be nice. Printed in both upper portion of the lenses. Small but visable 2 line info layout. Has to be just the text visible though so not to take away any field of vision. Then create a wiring sytem that splits off from the battery bank. I could go on with inventions. Just no time or funding to back it and establish the prototypes. Glad Sorenson, Young and the DM government found the bodies in a safe and reasonable time frame. Congrates and props. 🤙🏼. To the interviewer, greatly appreciated for your efforts to discuss all this in somewhat detail. I am with Mike Young and will say there was a divine something that happened. Not just with Young but with everyone in the water during both rescues, even the victims. Anyway. Great video.
It feels like sitting around a bonfire sharing experiences at a family get together. He talks like one of my uncles which may influence that LOL but he’s a very good storyteller. I’m so glad there are people like him out there, I’d honestly give anything to have a healthier body so I could feasibly cave dive. Maybe one day if I can work up to it! I’d love to have a trainer even half as competent and focused on safety and the PEOPLE involved as Edd is. I’d be in good hands.
Some here have said they COULD listen to Edd tell stories for yours. I DID listen to Edd tell stories for hours and want to listen to more. Even as a TDI Advanced Trimix diver, I feel like a new bubble baby listening this him. I have all the respect for cave and wreck divers and all the MAD RESPECT for the Edd. Legend.
Another sad, but great story of one of your recoveries Edd…. Thx for sharing these stories with us…. We appreciate what you, and your friends do for families who have suffered the ultimate tragedy!!
We have 2 caves on my families property. We have never let anyone in. Theres artifacts all in it. Native American artifacts. And artifacts that have to be thousands of year's old.. when the property is left to me I will not let anyone in.
Edd you don't see urself as a hero but to many familys and others that you have rescued you truly are there angle my friend they wouldn't be alive or there family wouldn't have closer if it wasn't for you God bless you my friend
I am a very experienced diver, I've gone into dark environments I've been in low visibility I've been in bad weather, I was even in a whirl hole one time that ran me around in a circle I felt like I was in a washing machine, but I never ever have been in a cave. I was at Crystal River in Florida one time right off my hotel area we had a boat and I was diving and I went into an overhead environment and I did not like it at all and when I couldn't see up and see the sun I wanted out of there so fast it was not funny. To me cave diving is three levels more than the most dangerous open water dive I've ever done It's just a level of danger that I just cannot comprehend wanting to put myself into. I have all the respect in the world for the guys that do cave diving, even when I watch these videos I actually shake it upsets me so much listening to them talk about no visibility You're in a tube that's this big You're in a restricted environment You can't turn around I mean my God this is the makings of a horror movie for me. I'm glad there's people like Edd That's proficient in cave diving and if a rescue needs to be done he can go do it but if I'm going to drown I'm going to be able to drown going to the surface not stuck in a cave.
