There is not such a thing as healthy oils. All kinds of oils should be completely avoided. Not even a drop should be consumed. The so called Mediterranean Diat is a killer par excellence.
Dr. Greger, Esseltyn, Ornish, Fuhrman, etc., are in agreement that ANY oil, including olive oil, are unhealthy. Dr. Greger especially presents, in his videos, presents the research that supports this view. I'm so tired of seeing people perpetuating this myth that olive oil is healthy.
They should have made it clear that they are talking about grocery store oils which are processed with pesticides and other deadly seed oils not pure, cold pressed without pesticides!! I could not live without my specialty olive oils and balsamic vinegars!!
If you use Frito corn chips with chili beans plus all the veggies topped with sour cream/mango salsa, it will make your lips quiver from 10 yards away... Double yummers!!!!
I know this is an old(ish) video, but talking about inflammation: nightshades, while delicious, are said to be inflammatory, so is there any preparation needed to reduce that effect?
I commend you! 👏 I have the Blue Zones Kitchen Cookbook and you’re one of the few channels that say you’re cooking a recipe from this book and then actually followed the recipe exactly and made it! 👍 Many other channels, despite saying they’re making a recipe from the BZK cookbook, just put whatever ingredients they want into it and use different cooking methods. It boggles my mind. So thank you for the integrity of this video. Keep up the good work!
We try to make it as close to the recipe as possible, assuming we have all ingredients on hand. So far we have enjoyed just about everything. Any recipes you would like to see?
You can use any kind of capsicum . The original recipe is with green pepper because the red and wellow are in the market not before the 90 '. The greens enhance the colors of the "cassarola" .
I'm pleased that you (and Dan Buettner) are unashamed about the use of Olive Oil. I found some Ikarian recipes where the chef is very liberal in her use of it, as I suspected she would be and assumed much the same regarding Sardinia, or anywhere else in the Med. There are a number of people touting The Blue Zones as a "vindication/endorsement" of a vegan Whole Food Plant Based Diet, but conveniently glossing over the fact that, in Sardinia, Ikaria (and, I suspect) Nicoya, that Olive Oil is an essential part of why these people are so healthy and that they also, occasionally consume dairy and animal products.......oh and they're not averse to a drop of Red Wine either! 😉
