Surly Huston and Isiah will be claimed. Huston can give you 15+ if given starter minutes, a shame they did not develop him.

They put two guys on IR and now have an open roster spot. No one is getting cut. Do you actually follow the Lions?

Houston will be the next Von Miller. Either with the Lions, or somebody else. Isaiah Williams had a abdomen injury. The Lions are nut cutting him. The reason the Lions are not cutting James Houston is simple. The next day hell become a Viking, Packer, or Bear. The Lions pass rush sucked before Houston joined the rotation, the Lions pass rush was elite with Houston. After Houston's injury, the Lions pass sucked again. Historically look up the list of players, the Lions gave up on, that became all pro/probowl stars in this league. Its mind boggling.

That's almost by design though. So, I can't blame em. It's like you wanna run the QB go for it. They cost a lot of money. Also, that is not holding because of the rules of the game, if you're swimming/ or spinnning, an arm around id not "holding" it just looks like holding.

TIm Patrick is good but he hasn't done much more than DPJ did, and can do? I don't think they cut anyone with all the injuries they are having????

I think the problem is pass rush scheme. They want their edge opposite hutch to be a pocket pusher. Davenport filled that role perfectly but is now out the year. Houston will never be a pocket pusher, so him and hutch will leave run lanes for QBs open. I think we’ll have to see Houston more now, but lions might view him as a backup to Hutch.

@FrayedQube

Betts just wasn’t good enough for the system. They clearly prefer a good player that isn’t a system fit over a mediocre, 4th string NFL bench player.

Tried to make Houston a linebacker for 3 seasons? He has only played 9 games in two seasons before this season. His beeline sack of Fields from starting in coverage 10 yards back in 2022 is reason enough to keep him. No one else on the team can do that.

Williams had an impact on special teams game 1. Teamers stay on the roster in Detroit. Sorsdale or Houston make sense to cut though.

Why does James Houston has to multitask in the defense. Does a wide receiver be FORCED to play special teams. There's clearly a double standard for players on defense.

Sorhsdal would be the one to go. He’s not shown any improvement at all. They continue to play Houston out of position. They need to play him to his strengths and not his weaknesses. Isaiah Williams is sneaky good. ARSB is a little banged up and I think that we need to be careful with him and this is where IW comes into play. However, this is just my humble opinion

It's personality clash between Houston and Glenn. The Lions pass rush sucked before Houston joined the rotation. With Houston, the Lions pass, was elite. After Houston's injury, the Lions pass rush sucked again. The Lions were not as good against the run, after Isaiah Buggs, the Lions best run stopper was cut. Anybody thinks John Paschal is a edge rusher, is deceived. Paschal is the one, that should be on the practice squad. Not Houston. This Monday night, Lions will have to blitz all night. Unless they play Houston on third downs(passi situations)

Did good EXCEPT... he broke right when he should have gone left to were Goff threw a pass that was intercepted in the fourth quarter. ( Both Goff picks weren't his fault). A few more mistakes like that and he ( like Hockinson. who made similar mistakes) will be gone.

Why people hate on Houston but not Cominski, who's gonna miss the majority of the season, and only had 2 sacks last season. Why isn't he cut?
@johnboehmer6683
@johnboehmer6683 17 дней назад
Cuz sitting on the IR, he doesn't have to be cut. Because he has proven to be very good against the run the whole time we've had him. And because the Lions have struggled to find anyone competent in rushing the passer, two sacks makes him about as good as anyone else. Having said all that, I am a huge fan of Houston. Yes, he's a bit of a liability out there when he's weak against the run and in coverage. But to be excellent at pass rushing, one of our biggest weaknesses last year, he should definitely be getting plenty of playing time, and no one should be talking about cutting him. Davenport went down with the injury we all knew he would get, it's time for James to do his thing.
@Tre-77
@Tre-77 17 дней назад
@@johnboehmer6683 Josh Pascal, who is our #3. I don't know why but I see so many comments or even podcasts where they never talk about him. If you think we should keep Cominski, even though he's gonna be out almost the whole year, because he's good at stopping the run, doesn't really sound that important. I don't we think we need an edge to stop the run, when we have Reader, Levi and McNeill in the middle. There is no other edge that Detroit fans would be okay with starting most snaps last season opposite of Hutch and only had 2 sacks. If Pascal has 2 sacks, he's a bust, or doesn't get mentioned. Houston gets labeled injury prone but Cominski doesn't and who has a higher ceiling?
@johnboehmer6683
@johnboehmer6683 17 дней назад
@@Tre-77 The thing that you're not seeing is that Cominski does not count against the 53-man roster on the lR. It's only if and when he's ready to be activated that we'll have to consider whether or not to keep him. Again, I think Paschal is the better player. He's another one who has been frustratingly slow to come along, not close to reaching his potential yet. Hoping this is his year. Cominski has largely remained healthy through his career though.

A team can sign a guy of any teams practice squad to their active roster at anytime. So really no difference, other than resetting the activation's.
@meanmutton
@meanmutton 18 дней назад
Not really risky waiving them because the players on the practice squad don't have any protection and any team can just sign them to a full-year contract. Getting playing time, an ability to show off their skills to other teams, and a game check (which is about 4 times a practice squad game check) is a great incentive when most teams just kind of stash you there.
