Just received my gen 2. And, once I find a proper place to mount it, am looking forward to using it. 🫡

We have ours screwed to a board, and when it's time to sharpen blades, we just C-clamp it to the bench top. Works great!

Better than a ridge pro?
@jonathanhakun5867
@jonathanhakun5867 Год назад
I wouldn’t say better, but rather different. We have a lot of hipped roofs down south, so being able to descend those is definitely beneficial. However, this thing is likely much heavier than a ridge pro, so there are plenty of instances I would prefer the RP. However again, the sketchiest parts of the roofs we’re on are at the corners of long hips where this unit shines.

We're glad you are happy with your 5005! Thanks for the video. Your experience is one we've heard many times. Depending on who is "professionally" sharpening your blades that day, the results aren't always stellar, and you're paying for it! And like you said, the hardest part is getting them back into shape. From there on, it's pretty easy to get your edges back. We're grateful to have you as a customer and hope your 5005 serves you well for many years.

What is the difference between the 5005 generation 1 and 2?
@AllAmericanSharpener
@AllAmericanSharpener Год назад
@@chrisdomenici9107 When we revised the design of our original sharpeners, we built additional length into the guide arms. This allows our jigs to accommodate counter-clockwise (left handed) blades, and blades up to 30" long. No other changes were made, and all our sharpeners produced now are the Gen 2 versions.

Great video. I'll probably upgrade to this setup. I definitely recommend newbies use a mechanical fall protection device, though.

Good info....is this instead of an anchor system?
@jonathanhakun5867
@jonathanhakun5867 Год назад
Yes and no. Technically, this device is intended to be screwed to the roof in order to satisfy OSHA standards fully. But for all intents and purposes, it’s plenty capable as-is so long as the roof pitch isn’t too steep for the feet to sit firmly on each side of the ridge. Plus, it’s more than 99% of roof workers use. Manufacturer still recommends it be secured with lag screws, I believe.

What is the name of the gutter clip you're using? Where did you buy them?
@jonathanhakun5867
@jonathanhakun5867 2 года назад
These are either Tuff Clips or Flex Clips. We use flex clips exclusively now on all our installations. I buy most of my supplies from Ewing Irrigation (they’re a nation wide company, see if you’ve got one nearby) but wesellchristmaslights.com and Reinders.com have them too, I’m pretty sure.

Good effort and good guidelines How much cost of this hipplock
@jonathanhakun5867
@jonathanhakun5867 2 года назад
It’s not cheap-about $1200+ after shipping. This is the HippLock plus, so it has the kickers that turn towards the roof shown in the video.
