The body groomer isn’t meant for precise beard cutting lol. It’s more for just body hair.

Thanks for the feedback. I can agree that it is not entirely precise or effective for the face. However, I have experienced a few times now with both Philips and Braun that my skin gets easily irritated on the neck, and this irritation disappears when I use the 0 mm guard./ Philip

10:50 tip: when trimming with guards you need to trim against the grain for it to cut the most accurate. Your beard hair doesn’t grow side to side like the way you’re holding the trimmer.

Hi and thanks for the tip. I had to watch the video because I suspected that I was using the fade guard then, and I was. Exactly what you mentioned, I actually mentioned in the recording. But I removed it and other things as well because the video becomes too long or difficult to explain in English. It may sound strange, but certain things, especially beard/trimming, are hard to express if you don't know all the terms. But if I go back to the fade guard, it's not perfect because, as you mentioned, the hair grows straight down. That's why I say 'Almost good.' It's much better around the ears and neck with it. Lastly, I want to mention that generally, I have to use some odd techniques/angles because I want you viewers to get the best view possible, but it's at the expense of not really seeing what I'm doing in the mirror or that the camera is in the way, so I can't see myself completely. So, one gets a bit limited. Thanks for your tips; I'll take them with me and try to improve in the next video (I'm still learning). Have a great day!

After a long period of research I found a defect in this device. If there is strong pressure on the attachment head, the distance between the attachment and the blade decreases. This means that the trimming dimensions are no longer adhered to. There is also a video about it
@Philip.315
@Philip.315 9 дней назад
I believe I mention it in the video that I have seen other RU-vidrs talking about this exact issue. But so far, mine is holding up. I don't use a very high pressure, just a moderate one. I have tried pressing it by hand with the lock button on, but even then it doesn't move. I think you have to use excessive force or use it in an unsustainable way for it to move. But we will see in the future if it holds up or not. Thank you for sharing. Best regards, Philip

You’re most likely talking about that channel “Beardtube”. He says what you said about applying pressure to the trimmer head when trimming. But that only happens if you apply a lot of pressure when trimming, which you don’t have to do and probably aren’t supposed to apply that kind of pressure anyways. Honestly that guy was most likely just promoting the Brio beardscape trimmer in that video, so he had to come up with a bunch of nonsense to criticize the other trimmers.

Tough question, maybe the OneBlade. But if you find a good deal on the 5000 model so that there isn't much of a price difference, I think the 5000 model is more worth it considering what you get for the money. However, if you prioritize simplicity, then the OneBlade might be a better choice. I am currently editing a video about the Braun Series X vs. OneBlade Pro, spoiler alert, I prefer the X model (Xt5200) for two simple reasons: the price range (cheaper) and better edge trimming. But as I said, this is based on what I think works for me, which might be different for someone else. Good luck with your purchase! Feel free to reach out if you have more questions. A “Monday example” would be considered a “Lemon” in Canada :) Was considering the Philips 9000 Norelco but will go for the Braun as an everything device (head, beard, body). Tack for the review!
@Philip.315
@Philip.315 13 дней назад
I don't see anything unique about that 9000 model other than that you get a OneBlade included, and it has a better level distance, its look like a wheel like onebladepro, while the 5000 model has a basic soluttion with a lever. Regarding the Braun Series 9, I would be careful about trimming the body without the guard; I don't think it's really designed for that, especially not for the 'private' areas. Oh, you mentioned lemon; could you elaborate on that? What are the metaphors? A 'Monday example' refers to someone who is tired on Monday morning after the weekend. But I don't get the lemon part? Good luck with your purchase. Best regards, Philip

@@Philip.315 The lemon analogy is an expression in Canada (don’t know if true for all of North America) when someone bought something that is defective or broken, “Steve bought a car online but it turned out to be a lemon!”.. so maybe the other youtuber got a lemon from Braun :) I think for my moderate body trimming needs with a guard (and being careful with the royal jewels haha) this should be a great trimmer.

Could you please recommend me what model I should get? I have a short small beard, not a big Beard. I'd like a model that does 50/50 also a painless body/pubes/backside shaver as well as a Beard trimmer. Im not sure what to get. I also hate having too many pieces to cary around they always get mixed up and ita annoying. Also are any of the better trimmers that you recommend with a USB C charging port? That would be amazing too.

That was a difficult question to answer. If you're looking for something simple, perhaps the Philips OneBladePro might be an option? It doesn't have too many parts. Personally, I think it’s a bit weak, but it might meet your needs better than mine. I haven't encountered any with USB-C so far, it would have been practical if everyone had started using it, but unfortunately, I can't think of any models off the top of my head that have a USB-C port. Let me know if you have any further questions. Regards/Philip

Thanks for the review! Coming from the old Norelco 4014 (11yrs of use and still going) I was excited to try something new, thanks to your video I went with Braun. Sadly, I found the Broun 9 experience to be of a $40 trimmer with an additional $80 worth of mediocre attachments. Standard blade with a retractable and lockable guard and small precision trimmer are good. The rest of them are a waste. T-line blade offered nothing sharper of a line than the regular blade, nose trimmer is a joke and gets warm, body trimming blade also got too hot after 2-3 minutes of use that I would not recommend getting it close to sensitive areas - groin, armpits or sides. Their "shot glass" design of blade heads? pull in so much hair that cleaning the tight areas of the heads is annoying. I wish they just sold the main unit as a trimmer and without the rest of the gimmicky stuff. Given the current $120 cost and what functionality you actually get, this is a return for me.

Thank you for the feedback, and I'm sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience. I bought mine on a promotion for $60. As I mentioned, I made a mistake and didn't double-check the accessories; I thought you got more with a 'Pro' model. Regarding the heat and cleaning issues, I haven't experienced any problems. As for using it on 'body parts,' I would only use it on chest hair or maybe underarms, with a few millimeters of distance and not close to the skin. The primary use is beard trimming. Perhaps you would have appreciated the Philips 7000 model? It comes with more accessories for a lower price. I hope you find a suitable model, and I will take your feedback into account for future videos. Good luck finding a new trimmer; it's tough to find something new after having a reliable one for so long.

@@Philip.315 Hi Philip, thanks for catching my comment and replying, super niece of you to follow up. I wanted to test it for body since they do market the body blade, and chest is exactly what I tested. I agree, body blade for close trim is not good, I would recommend only using it with a guard which beats the point of having a dedicated 3rd blade. At $60 price tag this would be a great deal for a nice beard trimmer, you lucked out :) I'll try the Norelco 7000 next, but I also don't care for all those attachments. Crazy that Norelco practically invented the single adjustable comb and is now offering an annoying experience with all the individual guides. Thanks again for the videos!

Hi i just lost mine (mine is 19in 1)foil attachment spring and i want to shave like 6 days in week (maybe 7) if i use body attachment on my face it can be shave clean? Or wich attachment do you reccomend for clean shave
@Philip.315
@Philip.315 20 дней назад
Hi @mustiboy6506 ! That was a difficult question to answer. There was a person who commented that according to the manual's recommendation, you shouldn't use the body groomer part on the face, which I haven't personally verified. I don't think the result would be satisfactory, and I become a bit uncertain about whether it's wise to use it almost every day. I myself tend to get irritated skin if I do it every day. In that case, it might be better to invest in a proper shaver. You'll simply have to try it out and see if it works. Otherwise, Philips usually offers spare parts, so it might be worth checking out their website or contacting customer support; I think i found the right part and it cost around 18 dollar (www.philips.se/c-p/CP1563_01/multigroom-series-7000-rakhuvud-med-skaerblad). Double-check with the shaver you have, because it's a jungle when it comes to all the series numbers and model years, etc. Unfortunately, I can't access the American Philips website because my computer insists on logging into the Swedish site. As I said, double-check it. I hope I managed to provide some guidance, but it's difficult to answer since we're all different and therefore get different results. Good luck! Hello! Great review! I was looking to buy either the Philips 7000 or the Braun Series 5 or 9. Have you tried the Braun series 5? Or do you think it is more worthwhile to invest in the series 9? I'm looking for something that can trim my beard (shorter beard), as well as give me a short trim on body and sensitive areas as well (1-2mm). What do you think would be the best choice to choose from the three models? Thank you so much ! :)
@Philip.315
@Philip.315 23 дня назад
Hello Richard! Thank you for the question. It entirely depends on what you value most. Is it price, accessories, quality, or innovative solutions? The Braun 5 lacks the locking button and has poorer battery life compared to the Series 9, and there's also a difference in the accessories. I've heard from others that you should get the same accessories between the 9 and the other models, and it's only the Series 9 where you get "pro" blades that provide a better edge cut. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get any parts that the 5 model has, like the mini foil. I'm not sure if they don't offer that combination/package here in Sweden while Braun does it in other places? The Philips 7000 is a good value for money but may provide a slightly less pleasant experience when it comes to changing parts or ergonomic design. However, you get a good result, and there are plenty of options available. Currently, I mostly use the Braun Series 9 in combination with the Philips OneBlade Pro when I don't have time to shave properly before work. Braun has some things that are so simple yet so effective that the experience, in my opinion, is a bit more enjoyable than with the Philips 7000. I like the fade guards; they provide more than a satisfactory result. I've started to notice the Autosense feature now that I've been using it for a while; it's very unique to have a trimmer that adapts to your needs. Lastly, I find the design pleasant to use. So, my question to you is: what is important to you? Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions. /Philip

@@Philip.315 Hi Philip! Thank you for the speedy response! :) I would say price isn't an issue as long as it is a razor of good quality and which will last me for a couple years. Ideally I'd like to get a razor that will be good for trimming my short beard and also good for body shaving as well (especially near sensitive areas). Would you say that the Braun Series 9 is good for body shaving as well? Can I get a relatively close body shave of 1-2mm? Do you think it will cause any nicking in the sensitive areas with their guard? Or do you think the Philips would be the way to go (or perhaps another razor if you have any suggestions that can do both well)? Thank you so much again! I really appreciate it! :)
@Philip.315
@Philip.315 22 дня назад
@@diante.richard In that case, I would go for the Philips 7000 model, especially if you intend to use it on sensitive areas and you have more accessories that increase the likelihood of meeting your "needs." As I mention in the video, I don't find the model to be a particularly pleasant experience in terms of ergonomics or how to switch between the parts. However, I believe that the Braun 9 might not be exactly what you're looking for. As for the Braun 5, I can't comment since I haven't tested it. Finally, I'd like to add that the lifespan of these devices usually doesn't exceed more than 2-3 years in my own experience. Also, I believe it depends on how careful one is and how well they maintain the trimmer. There's a lot of buildup around the drive shafts, among other areas, which can significantly increase resistance and make it harder for the motor to last in the long run. And this is something I'm not good at maintaining. I hope you found some guidance and didn't become more confused. Good luck, and feel free to reach out if you have more questions. Hello there! No, it wasn't the infrared light that caused the ringing in my ears; it was actually stress that triggered it by causing me to clench my jaw and throat while sleeping, as well as grinding my teeth. Both my ENT doctor and dentist told me that such tensions can lead to these types of symptoms, which was triggered by stress in this case. Hi there! Thank you for the question. @Philip.315 Месяц назад
Hi @johnaspinall4096 ! That's a really good question. Personally, I don't use protective eyewear, but I've been considering getting tanning goggles instead of using the ones that usually come with the devices. I find that the protective glasses that come with red light devices tend to block the eye areas. That's one of the main reasons why I haven't been using them. But there are studies suggesting that it may not be entirely necessary to treat the exact "problem" area to see effects. When it comes to choosing a wavelength, it doesn't make a huge difference; there are good studies ranging from 590nm up to 660nm. I'll include a link to a smaller study specifically on these wavelengths for you. I want to emphasize that you shouldn't use NIR wavelengths (700-1060nm) on the face; only on the upper part of the forehead and the top of the head if you want to stimulate the brain. Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions. Great review! I subscribed your channel immediately after watching this video.🎉 Do you think if one should upgrade to Braun if they already have old model of Philips norelco 7000 series - MG7790/28? I really liked that in Braun you don't have to deal with so many attachments and it's comparatively easier to change length by rotating the dial. However where I really need your help is to know if - 1. Is countour blade in Braun better than the Tblade in Philips? Which one is better for edging or is sharper when compared? I have read that the new Philips starts from 0.2mm whereas Braun starts from 0.5mm but in your video the contour blade looked really sharp. 2. What's your opinion about the taper attachment? Are they really good to create a fade while beard trimming? It wasn't that clear in the video. Thanks. Keep it up.
@Philip.315
@Philip.315 Месяц назад
Thank you so mutch! I will do my best to give you an answer. When it comes to which one is best, I think it's a personal question with that kind of comparison. I believe we all have different circumstances, from face shape to different types of beards, etc. I think both are equally good for getting a smooth edge, but for me, I find Braun works well in that aspect. Also, Braun has this auto-sense feature which might make it more efficient, and their specially designed counter blade for edge trimming might give a slightly sharper line than Philips. I also find Braun more ergonomic to work with. But ultimately, the end result is probably similar. I think the tapered attachments are okay on the beard, but even better around the ears/sides and neck. I've found a way to improve it a bit by switching left and right attachments and trimming from different angles, which works better. It's just important to be mindful of which direction you're holding the trimmer so you don't end up with the fade in the wrong direction. As for your question about whether to upgrade or not, I find it hard to answer. It's always exciting to try out new things, but at the same time, I think it's a shame to replace your old models if they're working fine. My policy is to only buy if there's a discount, otherwise, it can become an expensive hobby. I hope I made you a little wiser and not more confused. What a ridiculous video. You are just putting out a video to get clicks. I am a huge RLT user, I have invested in 8 panels and have a huge set-up. I have researched RLT for years and what you are posting is ridiculous... there are various studies, but nothing to the level you are trying to push in your video. What studies... what equipment used? Most studies are done with lasers, not LED devices... apples to oranges... Why isn't weight lifting "banned"? It gives you many times more advances than RLT... Ridiculous.
@Philip.315
@Philip.315 Месяц назад
I respect your comment/opinion. However, some things you mention, such as LED and laser, are also studies I've read about in other contexts where the studies showed no significant difference. Another aspect I want to bring up is that it was the article about possibly banning RLT that got me interested in the topic. Personally, I'm not against RLT in sports contexts; there are other things that should be banned instead. But as I said, this is a discussion where there's never a right side because everyone has different opinions and perceptions. Red light has helped me with so many different injuries and sleep difficulties, etc. My videos are something I want to share with others to educate and enrich them but also to help others. The purpose of the video is also to help raise funds for prostate cancer research. P.S. I wish I had as large a RLT setup as you, but I don't have the financial means or space for it. Have great day, Regards, Philip

I have tried and actually made a video about the Philips 7000 model which is similar to the 5000 model, but I find that the Bg7025 does a better job at achieving a smoother shave. I agree that the head can easily jump off, but I believe it happens when one presses too hard against the skin.

Phillips says that you should NOT use the Bodygroomer on your face. Is it not the case? Or you can use the trimmer side on your beard as opposed of the shaver side?
@Philip.315
@Philip.315 2 месяца назад
Now it's been a while, I made the video. But I want to remember that I used it on my neck (but i can be wrong). Recommendations are always good to follow, but I think maybe there is no such thing as right and wrong, as long as you get the result you want. I have seen people use shaving foam in combination with the trimmer. I will try it to see if it can be a more "softer" and closer shaving. I think that with the Philips oneblade, you can get a decent shaven look, but it doesn't feel like a clean-shaven. Not sure if I answered your question or made you more confused. You more than welcome to ask me new questions. regards/Philip

The one blades 360 design is far better for going around the face for a trim. I think the difference is you're trying to cut a lot of hair which would be unusual for most people using the one blade. Also ideally you're supposed to trim down long hair because trying to shave it
@Philip.315
@Philip.315 2 месяца назад
Hi @user-tx4wj7qk4t, Thank you for your comment. I can partly agree with you, but the fact is that the OneBlade actually has a distance of up to 10 mm, so it feels like they've tried to design a product that should be able to handle a bit more length. However, my beard in this video might have been a bit to long. But I recall that at the end of the video, I recommend the product for those who want shorter beards and good for more detailed shaving. I hope the video gave you something. Have a great day. Best regards, Philip.

I've been thinking about creating a top 8 list of different brands or making an open Excel file where I rank many panels; perhaps that would be of interest? I would not stress about wearing out the device. Manufacturer estimates 100 000 hours, 100 000/ 365 = 274 years, if used 1 hour per day, or 11 years if you never turn it off. Usually led lights dont last that long because other components fail, but they last for long time. And you might what to replace with better more efficient device before it is broken. As most people do with phones, computers and TV's.
@Philip.315
@Philip.315 2 месяца назад
Translate to polite English: I understand what you mean, but those hours probably only include the LED lights, not the transformer or the buttons on the menu system etc. Therefore, I agree with you that something else is likely to break first. However, if there are so many hours of light on the LED bulbs, or rather, on the entire product, that one can use it for over 270 years, why then is there only a 3-year warranty? A 3-year warranty is quite normal in this industry, but there are companies that offer 8-9 years of warranty. To me, this indicates how much faith the manufacturer has in their product. Thank you for your feedback, but we approach or view it from two different perspectives. Have a good day. Best regards, Philip

To get FDA “approval”, a device has to be tested and have gone through clinical trials to verify its efficacy. Non of the red light therapy panel devices on the market have gone through that. It’s just a marketing ploy by the manufacturer to claim FDA approval. The FDA has waived red light therapy devices from the requirement to undergo clinical trials and has classified these type of devices as general wellness devices.

@Philip.315
@Philip.315 3 месяца назад
I cannot agree with the comparison; cold baths are beneficial for quick recovery if you're training heavily throughout the week. I wouldn't categorize red light therapy as a stressor on the body in the same way as exercise, fasting, sauna, and cold baths. I almost want to place red light therapy in its own category. It can yield similar results but not in the same manner. However, I find it far-fetched to suggest it could be banned. I have difficulty imagining it would significantly raise testosterone levels to register on a doping test. But who knows what the future holds; there's already advanced DNA scanning technology, so perhaps there will be new methods for doping control in the future. As I mentioned, I didn't write the articles; it was more from the perspective that red light therapy has a positive effect when combined with exercise, to the extent that it raises questions about the moral correctness of using it in sports. I hope the video provided some information you found valuable. Best regards, Philip

Red light therapy (RLT) is an emerging treatment that has shown promise in treating various conditions such as wrinkles, redness, acne, scars, and other signs of aging. It is also being investigated for a wide array of health conditions, including osteoarthritis, tendinitis, dementia, dental pain, hair loss, and skin aging . RLT is thought to work by acting on the mitochondria within cells, potentially enhancing energy production and promoting cell repair and health1 . However, the effectiveness of RLT for all its claimed uses is not yet fully established. While some studies have shown potential benefits, the overall body of evidence is still limited, and more high-quality, large-scale studies are needed. Many of the published studies have been small, lacked placebo controls, or were not conducted in humans . In terms of usage, a commonly recommended approach is to use RLT for 4-5 days per week with 15-minute sessions . Some manufacturers suggest 3-5 sessions a week at 10-20 minutes each, and it is generally safe to use every day if following the recommended guidelines for intensity and duration . It is important to follow the instructions provided with the specific device being used, as machines can differ in light strength. Overuse of RLT is not typically a concern, but if any unusual results are noticed, it is advised to stop treatment and consult a physician4 . Red light therapy is considered safe and is not associated with significant side effects if used short-term and as directed. It is non-toxic, non-invasive, and does not use ultraviolet (UV) light. However, the long-term safety of RLT devices is not yet known, and it is recommended to consult with a dermatologist or qualified healthcare provider before starting treatment1 . In summary, while RLT shows promise for certain conditions and is generally safe when used as directed, more research is needed to fully establish its effectiveness for various treatments. Users should adhere to recommended usage guidelines and consult healthcare professionals as needed.
