Mmmm, my two cents. It’s not a matter of sensitivity and who can/can’t handle what. The young man’s video was tone-deaf and shows a lack of understanding of the historical context of colorism and its impact on the diaspora and how colorism has especially been exhibited on college campuses. It’s perfectly fine to have a preference but to make it vocal…ehhh… If you tell another black person, “hey, you’re not my preferred color” how is that supposed to make them feel? It ain’t like having a preference for vanilla or chocolate or any other inanimate object. I think our generation is at fault because perhaps we leave colorism out of the discussion when we talk about our history.
