I have been teaching children to sew for several years. I am looking forward to offering ideas and projects to this creative community. My channel will produce videos on various sewing projects and shopping tips with the idea that I explain the process throughout. May videos I have seen skips through the sewing process. I want to teach you the HOW and the WHY!

Please come back and visit or view my site for product information and updates.

Come sew with me!
Looking to connect with me on a business level? You can reach me at sewnbynikki@gmail.com.

I must admit, I get a bit lazy with this but, you can visit my blog for any specific measurements for projects that I do not mention in the video. www.sewnbynikki.info I really try to give you all the info you need but... I'm human... I forget!

No criticism of your great tutorial, just a quick suggestion to make sewing easier. If you start sewing your seam from the thicker fabric end rather than the lining end, it is much easier to sew over the center seam as yiu are sewing off the "fat" end rather than trying to sew up on to it.

I made one out of kitchen drying mats. It's tan. I added a pocket as well. The pocket is lined with thin interfacing. It is basically a full size pocket. To hold papers or a note pad.

Being resourceful with materials! I like that! Did it give enough support? I was creating different variations and I did one today with a zipper and a pocket that went the width of the sleeve...

Thank you so much for this tutorial! Someone gave me one of these neck pillows and it’s completely worn out and I had no idea how easy it is to make one. I’ll be making one for all my grand boys for Christmas and if I get started now and August I can get it done, thank you so so much. I’m going to play you along see so I can sew with you.

In 2001 the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC presented an exhibit on Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. As evidence of her deep knowledge of couture, it mentioned she always wanted French seams. I have been trying ever since to find out what that meant. Thank you so much for solving this decades-old mystery for me, and explaining it so well!

It makes clothing look like top quality.... like effort was put in to conceal rugged parts. : ) That could be why Jackie O wanted it done this way! I don't blame her! It's comfortable!

Hi, Nikki! I have many pieces of clothing that are plenty useful still, i.e. p.j.'s and slacks, with dead elastic or I've lost wt and they won't stay put on my hips. Do you have a video about replacing elastic; I looked but didn't find one on your cache. This would be so very welcomed. THANK YOU! : )

I got excited over your weight loss for you!! Good job!! That is not a bad problem to have!! :) I do not however, have a video of replacing elastics. I will be doing a sew-a-long in my FB group where I do elastics, for Christmas PJs. I will be doing it in the Fall so I will record that portion and post it. Unless I post a pair of pants sooner. : ) Stay tuned.

This fabric is cut to an 8 x 10 however you can make the bag as big, or as small as you would like. Keep in mind you will have seams of 1/4" on each side. I have learned a 5x7 bag (fabric cut to 6x9) is also a popular size.

Thank you so much! If you want to leave an opening near the magnetic strip, go ahead and do so. Some people have found that easier - I just prefer not to see the closing in the front, mid section of the flap. I hope the video helps you!

How do you deal with having a bathroom break if you are alone in your booth.
@SewnByNikki
@SewnByNikki 2 месяца назад
Hello! Honestly, make a connection with your neighbor as soon as you are setting up. That will help. I tend to limit the beverages I drink throughout my time at a market or event. I go before setting up and right after breaking down and loading my vehicle, usually. On the rare occasion when I do need to go, I ask my neighbor to watch my booth for me. If you attend the same market on a regular basis, it will be a natural thing you do for each other. It's a bit harder if it is a one time event - though doable. Vendors are usually helpful to each other..... just say hello when you arrive and make small talk. If you arrive first, acknowledge them and if you see them struggling with something, offer to help. It will go a long way to them helping with your customers! (Also, I have a till for cash but prefer to wear a fanny pack for my phone and funds or a vendor apron so it is easier for me to walk away - with my money and valuables).

@SewnByNikki
@SewnByNikki 2 месяца назад
Have you checked inside of your bobbin case to see if you have a lot of lint fiber built up? Clean inside, and under the case. I would also suggest using 100% cotton thread as well and be sure your tension is not pulling the thread too tight. You should consider loosening it, try 3.0. Hope those suggestions help!
