Those smaller diameter trees can be really hard to deal with - no room for a wedge with the bar in; and not a lot of holding wood. If it were me, I might have used a small saw for those - like a Stihl MS170 - because the bar is much smaller. Also, I've seen guys stick a wedge in the back cut parallel with the bar on those small trees. Not ideal, but seems to work. Good job.
The algorithm somehow knew that I was out cutting my own brittle pines this afternoon and served this one up.🙂 So yeah, I think you got a little deep with both face cuts, especially that second one especially given how much holding wood and room for wedges you would want on these pines. That pine cuts fast and easy and, as we know, it's pretty tough to replace the wood once it is cut. Good on you for putting the ropes in. You had the house and the road right there. Well worth the extra time and hassle for the ropes. And you got the trees on the ground without breaking anything so that's a win. This tree cutting business can be tough. The only way to learn is to get in there and do it. Things don't always go exactly the way we would like, but we learn, and move on to the next tree. Thanks for the video. Best wishes.
I like how you bent it to fall around the bush without destroying it. I thought it would take out the edge of the porch but you dropped it between so softly. Very nice!
@puzox Thanks man. The ropepuller works great and only weighs about 6 pounds I think. But it can slip on worn rope so be sure to inspect and change out the rope when needed
I watch a lot of Bjarne Butler videos, and truth be told, there is a marked difference. Bjarne cuts down eight foot diameter trees all day long on steep mountainsides, and then has to buck them into lengths that the helicopter can lift, and if he gets it wrong, he is going die, so that would concentrate your mind. www.youtube.com/@BjarneButler
Good stuff, 💪 Just a few observations from my part, tie in with your climbing line once your around six feet up. Also always tie in twice when cutting. When taking a top or blocking down a spar keep your climbing line choked off just below your knees. The flip line or lanyard should be on top at waist level. I don't advise using an aluminum karabiner as a choking anchor either. Use a quickie or a steel krab instead. I don't think the Z.Z is rated for S.R.T without the chicane either. Nice 540xp, is that the MIII?
@@TheToolnut Great feedback. I know I cut corners sometimes, but you are so right. Thanks for pointing it out. The Husky is a mk3, with a West Coast Saw mufler mod and Oregon Speedcut Nano 16" bar and chain. It's cuts smooth and is a real powerhouse. But almost twice the weight of a 2511T...
@@AkershusogstfoldTreservice There's no second chances in our game, one mistake and your dead. It's dangerous enough so there's no point in making it even more so by taking unnecessary risks. I have a 2511t and a 2511wes, both have modded mufflers, they are lovely saws. I have a ported and muff modded Stihl 193, it's a beast. I have my eye on a T540xp MIII, I'll get one with a 14" bar for big removals, 👍💪🪓🌲🇮🇪🇮🇪
Takker🙂 Mye er vel å ta å ta i... men jeg har brukt det med mye større effekt enn her. Du ser på stubben at det var litt slurv, noe jeg ikke fikk med meg før jeg så stubben selv🧐
371xp with new carb, fuel hose, and fuel filter still has issues. Cylinder and piston is ok. It acts like it's starving for fuel. So I'm thinking it might be an airleak in the crankcase, but I'm not sure. Comment if you have any idea, thanks
@malcolmgreig5193 So I finally got around to testing the "starting fluid theory," but it didn't affect the idle. However I noticed a lot of small particles in the gastank so I flushed it out. New filter and hose again just to be safe. Idles and revs up fine with no load so it remains to see how it performs in a fat log🤞
Thanks for commenting, but the truth is that the tree was held together with a strap. Several years ago it split all the way down, and now it was time to take it down.
@@AkershusogstfoldTreservice Гугл перекладач каже про якийсь "ремінець" Тобто ви маєте на увазі що воно було привите до іншого стовбуру? Але я так і не зрозумів чому, в такому випадку, воно впало?
If you zoom in just below the branches, you see that it is tied together. The strap or rope is failing, and the owner doesn't want it to fall on top of a car as this is a car shop
