He didn't fix anything- he just cleaned the cartridge connector and took it on and off a few times- and off camera. He click baited with the word "fix" in the title. We were stuck with LGR style music while he racks in the clicks from people thinking he is trouble shooting components. That is YT nowadays...
Thanks for the video! Mine won’t turn on so I did your switch fix and it was really gunked up, but still won’t turn on lol. I found some dog hair from 20 years ago though
Dude, thank you! I didnt even think of taking the cartridge port apart. I cleaned it, sure, but only after taking it apart and cleaning it did it finally start to work. I just got this second hand and was starting to wonder if I got a dud lol. Thanks for the video!
A little over a year ago I found a PS2 controller at a fle market for $5 because the cord was chewed on by a dog. I cut the cord just above the badly chewed part and took the controller apart and cleaned it. Its just now sitting around the house collecting dust. Would you be interested in it and a Nintendo switch controller whos thumb sticks quit working?
I know my SNES from probably 1992 eventually would have the screen go black, even though the game would still go on. I believe I was able to send it back to Nintendo. Don't remember much about it though. Did a lot of early ones have an issue which would have the screen go black during gaming, even though the game would still go on. Sometimes I think it would switch back on.
I have only used the one in my videos so I don't know what's all out there when it comes to performance. It's called the Anesty zd-915, highly recommend it.
Meh. Not everybody does things the same. I always take the plastic off my covers because I store them in sleeves. I have zero issue with that. I have more of an issue with how he touched the grooves with his fingers. Haha
thanks for the video. just got one of mine working. Not so lucky with the second one. It has a slight red haze when powered on instead of the black screen issue. The red moves around the screen as it's reset. Anyone have an thoughts?
Do all your games cause this red haze? This reminds me of common issue with the NES where the game cart does not make good contact with the 72 pin connector.
@@power-vintage I have only tried two cartridges but after alternating back and forth sometimes it has the haze and sometimes it’s just the black screen.
Sometimes it’s not as easy. I’ve seen a few with a bad PPU or a CPU which causes it to have a black screen. Overall another console saved from the grave 😎
Great repair. I had a yellowing top shell problem with a PS1 SCPH-7000 a month ago. I was in no rush, so I left the top shell on a south facing window sill for about a week. It got plenty of sun in that time and the yellow is gone. Plus it didn't fade out the logo or text on the CD player cover. The plastic is still in good shape too.
My grandparents still have their original SNES from 1990 and recently I noticed I have to play/fiddle with the catridge position to get some games to work. I'll try this the next time I'm over their house. Thanks
Holy heck this guy is cringy, no offense but good job on getting it going again! Love seeing the snes's saved rather than scrapped or smashed like they used to do in around 2010
I just love any kind of SNES (or retro video game console) service-work / repair videos, especially when something like that "black screen of death" is fixed! I'm not fond of retro-briting, it's just me though, and I am glad that Parker was happy with the result.
Thank you so much for the fix and the retrobriting too!! I’m excited to play it! I got it off Facebook marketplace and it had screws missing when I opened it up to clean. It also came in that same box and forgot it said that that was funny!! Thanks again!!
Nice work! I have a similar set up for getting the yellow out of consoles. I find that buying a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide and mixing it with water to get to 3% or somewhere around that is more cost effective (like buying it in bulk at 35% concentration). Also, if the water is hot... not too hot obviously since you don't want the plastic to warp, then it gives me solid results.
This really means a lot to me! I always try to do my best in my videos so I’m glad your enjoying them. This is my passion so stay tuned cause I got big plans and ideas 😎
