Craziest thing is most people won’t realise that the last line is Wretch actually talking to British black/caribbean people. He’s smart enough to now recognise his own race has become the new oppressor in the UK. Black on black crime is such a tragedy worldwide, especially here in the UK where most the drill artists glamorising murder have grandparents/parents from the windrush generation who truly suffered for their children & future generations of black people in Britain. I pray black people worldwide can one day stop holding eachother back & murdering eachother. Love to everyone reading this, regardless of your race ❤️
Wow. If you actually deep the line and every time it goes upwards or down, I think we may start to crack the code of how genius Wretch really is. I think the line starts when the windrush generation got to Britain, and then first goes downwards when they realised life wasn’t what they were promised. Meaning that their pure hearts and need for a better life made them start being angry and letting their pure hearts begin to diminish. Once the line begins to even out again the windrush generation have children and grandchildren with less racism, more opportunity and a chance to have what they never did when they arrived. If you really think about where the line stops at “Black & British” this is where Wretch realises life in the UK is amazing for black people with Jamaican/Caribbean roots who are born now, if you compare it only to the generations before them. Now look at how much lower the “Black & British” ending point is to the “Optimism & Faith” at the beginning and realise that the young black generation in the UK bringing each other down and murdering each other so carelessly, makes them much lower in love/morals/purity compared to their grandparents who took 10x more abuse in a country where they are now watching their grandchildren murder eachother when they have an opportunity to do what their grandparents couldn’t. Do not let this go over your head, if you are born in the UK and you’re black don’t listen to any of your black peers telling you to be pissed off for no reason. Go and achieve something with your life and understand that only systematic white racism is your enemy, not the average white person. This is coming from a white guy who was born in the UK, but has lived in the same poor areas with my Family White/Asian/Black brothers in Birmingham. The system is the true enemy. Wretch 32 this is a masterpiece, I have been your fan since teachers training day brother which was the first UK hardcopy album I ever purchased. I hope my black brothers in the UK stop killing and degrading each other as soon as humanly possible!! You’re all worthy of generations of happiness and peace here in the UK and your grandparents suffered so you could be here right now with more rights and opportunity than they could’ve dreamed of having!!!!
