Yay humans! "For those in whom strength does not dwell, in cunning then must they excel.". (William Blake) Wisdom the invaders ignored: don't underestimate the opposition, don't look too important in battle, and guerilla warfare always prospers on the home ground. Finally, "Pride goeth before a fall, and a haughty spirit before destruction.". Hubris brings nemesis!

Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I agree, it certainly feels like Michael's survival is more than just a stroke of luck. It's almost as if the universe has bigger plans for him, and his miraculous recovery hints at something greater awaiting him. Sometimes, there are moments in life where survival feels destined, and perhaps Michael is being preserved for a future purpose yet to be revealed. I'm glad the story resonated with you in that way! Keep watching-who knows what’s next for him!

Unhappy about human extinction. How did they perish completely when they probably also lived on other worlds? Well written, but sad.
@CosmosHFY
@CosmosHFY 2 дня назад
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I understand your disappointment about the extinction of humanity in the story. The idea behind their disappearance was to highlight how, despite spreading across other worlds, they faced internal challenges-like war and environmental collapse-that led to their downfall. However, they left behind an incredible legacy, including their hidden fleet, as a testament to their resilience and ingenuity. In many ways, they still live on through what they left behind. I appreciate your feedback, and I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future stories!

@CosmosHFY
@CosmosHFY 8 дней назад
That's a powerful observation! It's fascinating to think that Earth, despite everything humanity has done to it, would still rise to protect its inhabitants. It speaks to the resilience and deep connection between the planet and all living things, perhaps even hinting at a hidden bond we don't fully understand. Maybe, in the end, Earth knows we're all in this together, and that gives us hope that it's never too late to start taking better care of our home. Thanks for sharing this profound perspective!

Need a story about aliens coming to conquer earth ... an old story that has been played to death? Visualize the horrors of space that would overwhelm a planets inhabitants with astonishing speed and then all it's resources ... leaving a barren and lifeless hulk. Same as all the others? Landing on earth, they attack the largest cities first ... thousands of ships. And stop, frozen in fear ... their enemy had been waiting while hiding amongst the humans. What could freeze their nutrients that energized their bodies? The earth cats, emitting a growing keeping sound, growing in size, to that of a tiger, glowing eyes and fur that is alive with sparks of electricity. Then, without any sense of motion or time, it was over. Bodies strewn over the landscape, dripping various fluids from the dead and dying. Who knew their enemy long thought extinct, hid in plain sight as the humans pet, the cat. Ironically, the invaders very much looked to be very rat like in appearance.
@CosmosHFY
@CosmosHFY 8 дней назад
Wow, what an intense and vividly imagined story! The twist of Earth's cats being the hidden defenders against a rat-like alien invasion is both terrifying and brilliant. The idea that these seemingly ordinary pets were actually ancient warriors lying in wait adds a whole new level of intrigue. It's a chilling reminder that sometimes the greatest threats and protectors are the ones we least expect. Thank you for sharing such a creative and thought-provoking scenario!

The story makes no sense on many levels, e.g. they find a ship with unrecognizable symbols on it and immediately read the name of the ship.
@CosmosHFY
@CosmosHFY 9 дней назад
Fair point! It’s definitely a bit of a leap to go from unrecognizable symbols to instantly reading the ship's name. The story takes some creative liberties for the sake of pacing and drama, but I get how that can be jarring. Maybe we can imagine that the ship’s name was in a universal script that survived through the ages, or it was one of those rare symbols that just happened to be preserved in alien records. Thanks for sharing your thoughts-it's always good to look at these details critically!

@CosmosHFY
@CosmosHFY 9 дней назад
Haha, that's a great point! The idea of them speaking the same language is definitely a bit of a stretch. In the story’s context, it’s meant to streamline the narrative and focus more on the emotional and dramatic aspects rather than get bogged down in linguistic barriers. But hey, maybe the aliens had access to some ancient human records and learned the language over the millennia! 😉 Thanks for pointing that out-it’s always fun to think about these details!

@CosmosHFY

Yes, it's indeed a sad realization about Earth. As for the crew aboard The Prometheus, there were both men and women among the humans in stasis, each playing a vital role in their mission. The story focused on Captain Verner, but the crew’s survival and humanity’s potential for a new beginning relied on the collective strength and resilience of everyone aboard. @CosmosHFY 10 дней назад
Great observation! In this story, while the entire galaxy is indeed bound by the Galactic Accord, the focus is on humanity's unique position and response to the Krell threat. Other species might be involved in the broader conflict, but the narrative highlights how humanity, led by General Kincaid, takes drastic measures when others hesitate. The story explores the moral and ethical dilemmas faced by humans when pushed to the brink, which is why the spotlight is on them. Thanks for pointing that out!

It must be nice to have an enemy be so accommodating that they will stop their attack so you can retrofit you ships and ammo so you can defeat them.
@JesusKreist
@JesusKreist 10 дней назад
Yeah. And not hours. Retrofitting a piece of technology takes multiple days at least. Per vehicle. "Modular" is a nice buzzword, but militaries much more seek reliability i.e. the thing in question still works after a harsh maneuver. It is ... less than good if a weapon disconnects or has a wobbly connection after the battleship it is mounted on goes from stationary to 'ahead full flank'. Meaning after starting the invasion the Zeefor (or Z4, or Zeephor or one of the other half dozen spelling alternatives used in a 8 1/2 minute video) stopped and waited for multiple weeks to a month for the earthlings to be ready.
@CosmosHFY
@CosmosHFY 10 дней назад
That's a great point! In storytelling, there’s always a balance between realism and the need to create a compelling narrative. While it might seem convenient that the retrofit was successful in time, it also highlights humanity’s quick thinking and adaptability in desperate situations. The urgency and the risks involved in retrofitting the ships add to the tension, showing that even in the face of overwhelming odds, humanity found a way to fight back. The story is more about the triumph of human ingenuity and spirit than the timing itself. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@davidbaker45
@davidbaker45 10 дней назад
I would suggest a good way to fix this would be to have the invasion starting at Earth's outer colonies, slowly but inexorably getting closer to earth, sweeping aside all resistance. With interstellar travel times not being instant and the need to make sure there were no pockets of resistance or fleets escaping, plus assured of their eventual victory, the aliens could/would take their time. This would give earth the time to frantically refit a last ditch home defence fleet or maybe re-commission older ships that had been mothballed, similar to the US Navy's plan in a scenario where they discovered they still needed battleships, this would allow for the showcase of Human's industrious nature and ability to adapt without stretching credulity.

Sound waves don't travel through space.
@CosmosHFY
@CosmosHFY 13 дней назад
You're absolutely right-sound waves do need a medium, like air or water, to travel through, so they don't naturally propagate in the vacuum of space. However, in this story, the sound-based weapon could use advanced technology to convert sound waves into another form of energy that can travel through space. Sci-fi often explores how future tech might overcome current limitations. Thanks for pointing that out!

@CosmosHFY
@CosmosHFY 18 дней назад
This is a fantastic observation! The idea of using compound and crossbows, especially with compressed air, adds a modern twist to ancient weaponry, making them even more effective against technologically superior foes. The lack of a heat signature is a clever advantage. Using a Ballista for low-flying ships and a Trebuchet for ground troops is a brilliant strategy that shows how human ingenuity can turn even the simplest tools into powerful weapons.
