I've not seen this production but I know both Sunset and Phantom well. Sarah has an exceptionally beautiful voice and was the best Christine, along with our own Marina Prior. However I do have serious concerns about her being cast as Norma Desmond. Christine is written for a soprano classical voice, which Sarah has in spades. Norma Desmond requires a mezzo voice that is dark, and the person needs to use chest voice and have some belting in the middle voice. To be able to perform both roles as they were written, the actor must have an extremely adaptable voice and a huge range where every note is high quality and audible to the audience. To pull this one off, Sarah would have to almost completely change the sound of her voice, not to mention her technique. The only people who might be able to switch so easily (and not without risks) are the very few women who have the rarest voice type of all. The Soprano Assoluta. I have not seen anyone in musical theater with this voice type. Although I would love to see such a phenomonan. it would start an amazing trend. Could you see the great Patti Lupone playing Christine?
I’ve just come from seeing her at the opening night in Melbourne - absolute brilliance (from her and the entire cast). She has such a magnetic stage presence that goes beyond her beautiful voice and she played Norma Desmond amazingly.
@@cat5902 Overall I really enjoyed the show but Sarah was not the highlight in a “star” way. Voice/Acting not up to the level when I saw original on Broadway years ago, but was solid and enjoyable. The orchestra and staging and costars were amazing. I live in Sydney so may go back and see with the understudy. But if you haven’t seen Sarah it is worth seeing.
Should've received the Best Lead Actress in a Musical 4 Phantom! Is luminous & will be superb as Norma in SB!!! Still the consummate artist & PRO...&, speaks so WELL of her ex-husband & equal legend!!! Should be given a royal title by King Charles...long overdue!!!!❤❤❤ 👍🥰!!!
She looks incredible!!! So excited to see Sarah in concert this month in NJ on her holiday tour!!!! So happy she's doing another leg here in the US and in a Theater, I grew up performing in doing dance recitals.
@@suave-ridercan’t look good otherwise with surgery if you’re ugly to begin with. Sarah’s always been gorgeous. And that’s not surgeries, those are called make up.
