Well done m8 i actually run the league in which you mentioned pete catch those small whiting i won my zone with one the fishing was very hard but ive been criticised this week for allowing them to count from people that dont actuality fish the league glad you think it was right
I think I almost know you from watching Pete’s videos. I also met some of your lot at the SAMF team finals in Skegness last year. I think you are doing a great job. We used to give 1 oz for every undersized fish. So long as we all do our best to put them back alive I think it’s ok. Much better than the buckets of dead fish from 20 years ago. My in laws are in Lowestoft. Don’t go up often but would be great to fish one of your matches next time I am there.
Yes m8 that's why it's called catch and release as long as the fish are looked after does it matter what size they are they have been caught so should count one way or the other if you are this way when the king of the shingle is on let me know hope to see you at one thanks spalt
Thanks Pete. I really liked the match. You fished the best you could in the conditions in front of you. That young guy that got 8 fish really showed how to do it. Did he really float fish. That’s brave, had not thought to try that.
@pondpetefishing9976 I get to fish against Ben Arnold, Daz Newland, Joe Wales and Ian Dancy every month who are all England internationals. Plus sometimes Malcom Stote the England manager and Julian Shambrook, owner of the AFAW tackle company. So I know what it’s like seeing the different level they are in. The main thing I see is the effort they put into bait quality, I have no chance to match them. But it makes it feel even better when I occasionally beat them. Only once so far this year though.
Another great video mate thanks. Your question what do you think about while fishing is what fishing shall I watch on you tube later. That is my second addition. See you at the next last cast saloon match. Take care and stay safe mate. Tom.
Yeah on a nice night it feels fantastic being in a beach, but the fishing is better when it’s a bit rough. Definitely more fish after dark. I think September October are the best times for beach fishing so try it then
Hi i have been watching your fishing and i would like to know i find myself dawn lee on solunt next week is it realy hounds or nuthing cam you get bream and bass using worm baits or just big baits for hounds and rays thanks
There are some small bream, a few bass, strap congers the odd thornback but all in small numbers. You don’t need really big baits for the hounds, half a prawn on a size 1 is easily enough. The weather has been really hot this week so it might bring better bream in. There are groans on the beach, so long as you. A cast past the end of those is all you need to stand a chance, further gets bigger but fewer hounds. Good luck and thx for watching.
Hello mate I done the last comp at Lee with last cast saloon. I got a 91cm hound and a 32cm .I use kamasan Aberdeen style. I have never seen my hook bent. I have had hounds over 15lb bass up to 8/12lb tope over 20 .I have used copies and they have broken. Look forward to your next video. Thanks. Take care.Tom.
Yeah I use kamasan for most of my rigs but did have a big fish bend one, which is why I went to chino last year. I was not even holding the rod, it bent the hook just pulling the lead out. Must have hit it like a train. Maybe I should go back to kamasan, it only happened once. What size were you using, I am guessing not a size 2 if you have had time 🤣
@@BeachTeach123 I have only used size 2 and smaller but the hound I caught in the comp was 1/0 only because I had a big bait on. My main fishing is down the creek by alver Bridge and the 8/12lb bass was on a size 6.
Well thats a very good point. During a match all I think about is the fishing, what to do next, what are other people doing, etc. Its very tiring in a way, but also relaxing and good for stress relief, as I am not thinking about work, or jobs that need doing at home, it is total escapism. There are groups that take people fishing who are suffering from stress, PTSD, addiction and other conditions. It takes your mind away from all those real world issues, even if it is for only a few hours. Being on a beach at midnight with only the sound of the waves is a great feeling. Maybe sometimes fishing is just an excuse to be there. Thanks for watching.
Sorry to hear about Mike, i didn’t know him personally but im sure plenty do and will be missed. Regards to the family. Chesil is not a beach that excites me and doubt if I will ever fish it. Maybe if I was driving past but don’t think that would ever happen. Certainly see some nice fish come out at times but then you do all around the coast.
Chesil is an exciting venue and the scenery is great. You could get a fix of a life time, there are so many different species there, but you are just as likely to blank.
So they put ALL those fish back in front of you're rod and still you got nothing 🤣🤣😂😂👎👎 i wonder if you fish with hooks and bait or that you just out there for the fresh sea air 😂😂🤣🤣👍👍, maybe you got more luck in the love life ?
The fresh sea air is very good. If you watch my other vids I did win the first SLO match of the year, I won one of the LCS matches and finished second in the league last year. But yes I am also begging to wonder if my hooks are sharp. Maybe I should save money, not buy any bait and just sit there to enjoy the sunsets. 😎😎🤣🤣
Dogfish love sandell. They don’t link elastic. So put lots of elastic on. You will still get some but it should reduce the numbers. Unfortunately dogfish will eat just about anything.
We were up at Cogden and I did not see any fishing rubbish on the beach. But cogden is difficult to get to so I suspect the Portland end, abbotsbury and west bexington which have closer car parks are worse.
What a work up, I can fish and chessil always has been a chuck and chance place, I knew a bloke that could hardly fish catch 54 codling in 1 session there years ago! Rip too the old fella.
Chesil will throw up some great catches, but compared to the number of people fishing it, it is not as good as some people think. They only see the reports of big fish or big catches, not about all the people that blank.
Nice fishing video enjoying the lovely scenery and the background that you showed us you had a few fish well done. 👍🐟 And some lovely words about mike rose👏
Hi mate I'm Tom I was at the match watching jj at Lee. He told me about your videos and being my second hobby (you tube) I watched one. To be honest you have only just started and credit to you. I am positive you will get much better. I am starting match fishing again and see you at the next one. Take care and stay safe. Tom.
Good work buddy, Just watched this before my comp, havent fished a match for a couple of months, so I'm looking forward to it. target is hounds, so perfect🎣🎣👍👍
Well done mate I visited last night and J J told me about your videos. I have subscribed and hit the bell. I am going to start the matches again. Very enjoyable thanks. Take care and stay safe. Tom.
It’s all your fault 🤣. I was not going to fish this one, but then watched your bass tournament videos and thought ‘Yes if Pete can do it so can I’. How wrong 🤣 . But it was a really nice evening and I thought important to show we don’t always catch. Thanks for the comment.
Usually my century tip tornado super match. But always take a spare which is an old conoflex vampire. Reels at the moment are all Penn fathom 12s. It would be great to know what you like and dislike about the videos so that I can improve.
Hi, I believe it was a blonde ray. With a spotted ray the unspotted area at the edge of the wings forms a deep band, here it does not, the spots go up almost to the edge. However, as always, one should be wary of identifying a species based on only one character.
You are right that the spots where closer to the edge of the wings than usual for a spotted which threw us. But look in the middle of the wing, there is what I call an eye pattern. Only one. On a blonde there are several eyes. So I think it is a spotted but I would not bet my life on it.
Sorry you are on RU-vid seems a bit strong. But I did note myself when watching the way I put the dogfish back. They are very hardy and all swam away. Note I did walk down to the water with the other species. But fair enough I could have done better there.
I used to live in gosport many years ago and got some great fishing points and get some good fish along the beaches there, nice video thanks for sharing look forward to watching more
Hi i have just taken up sea fishing and want to do some night shore fishing . Please could you recommend a good night lamp . Not a head lamp but a ground lamp . Thanks .Keep up the good work and look forwards to more streams . 👍👍👍
I would strongly recommend a head lamp, even if you have a base lamp as well. Top ones are £100 but I have a couple of these £15 ones and they are good. 2 hrs on full power and 6 hours on low, but low is plenty to put on bait, tie knots and see your rod tip. amzn.eu/d/5uB503y I don’t have a base light but Quick Look on Amazon and there are plenty. Look for one with a usb charging point, so you can recharge it in the car or I even take a small power pack on the beach to recharge stuff. Thx for the support.
My main rod is a Century Tip Tornado Super Match. It is a great casting stick but not so good at showing bites. But as I say in this video I fish to the clock so not seeing small bites is not a problem. Back up is an old Conoflex Vampire II. Reels are Penn Fathom 12s, or I do have a pair of ABU 6500 elites. The ABU is a bit better for casting but the Penn is a better all round fishing reel, far more rugged with a faster retrieve. For light scratching I have a couple of Tronixpro Banzai, the BZ 4 and the multi tip that I use with a fixed spool. The Tip Tornado is expensive but the Century Fire Blade or AFAW 6 and bait would be very good alternatives. Let me know if there is anything you would like to see in further videos.
I am sure it was a spotted, as you say the spots are large and very clear. But some still saying blonde because the spots on a spotted usually stop an inch from the edge of the wings.
Nice video mate, I know you said you didn't do that well because matey next to you had a higher measure, but I really think you did well. Like you said it's a league. So you're always in it if you're catching. Well done on the edit. Also what was the verdict in the ray. I'd say blonde in my limited experience 👍🎣🎣
Thanks 👍 most people are saying spotted, but the spots do go close to the edge of the wings so jury is out. Need to improve my casting and with that many dogs and so few whiting, should have increased bait and hook size. Thanks for the continued encouragement.
You’re doing a great job with the videos you’ll naturally improve with everyone you make so keep going and hopefully you can get in the top 3 thanks for making these videos the do bring enjoyment to people and also a view into match fishing which can be frustrating sometimes but can also give you such a buzz next tight lines and good luck for the next match 👍🎣🎣👏
@@BeachTeach123 good luck it seems you’ve got the match fishing bug it’s definitely one of the better bugs to get looking forward to seeing how you get on 👍🎣🎣🎣👍
Thx Pete. Hope you saw I gave you a mention in the first video. Been watching your for about a year now. Was really odd to meet some of your guys at the Skegness SMAF 5 man event, after having seen them all in your videos.
The venue you fished Adrian it's a tough venue especially if there has been a blow a couple of days before I have fished matches there and can come right up to the wall. And yes I have been caught by the waves but enjoyed the video and well done for staying until the end.👍
