I lost my little boy Stimpy back in January, he was 18 years old l had him from 6 weeks old. He followed me everywhere l went he never left my side. I trained him the first 2 years and for 16 years he never had a lead, he was so obedient, he was my little son. I still cry every day, l miss him so much. There so loyal. I would go down town, and go in a busy shop, I'd tell him to wait back in a min. He new exactly what l meant. When l went in his eyes would follow me everywhere in the shop. Then l would come out and say , what a good geezer you are , he got so excited, but he loved me . I miss him so much.
I have a shorty. I just had his DNA tested since people are always telling me he cant be pure since his ears stand up. It turns out he is 100% Russel Terrier. He's cute and loves to play rough. He is super friendly to everyone and every dog. But he will fight if challenged or protecting his toys or food.
The Colonel was my best friend, companion, and confidante; he had chocolate every day and passed away in his bed peacefully just short of his twenty fifth birthday. Not a day goes by when I don’t miss him . I thank the Lord for genuine friendship.
Okay I'm completely new at this breeding thing. My female Yorkie hasn't had any discharge to my knowledge. My male Yorkie has been sniffing her for about 3-4 days now. How can you tell she's ready to be mounted?
Truer words have never been spoken. After having 3 Jackies at the same time, I learned to love them for what they are. Silly, sneaky, loud, always on guard duty, easy to spoil and 1000% devoted to their pawrents. My heart is wrapped up in Goldies but the Jackies add so much life to the home. If I could afford it I’d have 3 more Jackies again.
This is early AI, I guess. Two years ago seems a long time though. Maybe just text to speech. Most of it is accurate, but of course a huge number are tri-coloured, as in black, white, and brown. Leaving my Border outside would kill me, not the dog.
When my dad comes over and gives me a hug if my JRT's paying attention she'll try to jump in my lap which usually results in me hugging him with one hand and petting her with the other while we are both laughing.
Thank you so very much I appreciate it I love Jack Russell Terriers I had one for years and I had to get her put down due to tumors Mass tumors❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
I have a 3 year old shorty. She's not very personable to people since when she's outside all she wants to do is find and chase squirrels and other critters, and not much of a lap dog. She would rather burrow under a blanket to sleep when she's tired. She gets along fine with other dogs. Although she is tiny and often gets confused with a mini dachshund, she needs about 5 miles of walking per day, where she runs perhaps 10 miles when we're in the woods. I doubt any Jack Russel would be a good dog unless they get this amount of exercise. Despite her very short hair, she sheds year round.
I have two Parsons terriers, I love them to death but for any other non-human they are demons and will attack any other animals (except pitbulls - which they seem to like and play with)
Do all mini jack Russel’s have a gait more like a bulldog? I’ve noticed mine has a gait like an English bulldog and her mother and father have the same gait. How did they actually create this breed? Was it just someone using a regular jack Russel that came out dwarf and so they breed them with another dwarf to make this breed? Also my mini jack Russel has a stubby tail. I didn’t get to ask the breeder if they actually docked the puppies tails or if all minis just have a stub rather than a long tail? This litter definitely is different than the regular Jack Russel’s they were also breeding. I’ve notice no different as far as intelligence between the standard Jack Russel and the mini. Why isn’t the mini recognized by the American Kennel Club? Can we work to make them be recognized?
From as early as 6 months. Mine is 7 months and is in her first heat, very loving, affectionate, clingy, off her food, haven't noticed spotting yet, and vulva a bit swollen, picking herself and everything else a lot 😊
I have shorty broken coat Jack Russell. He has the best personality , loving, fun , full of energy, love people, playful, love mingle with other dogs. Only thing is ….his stubborn 🤣
I have a Jack Russell who’s 7 years old. At 7 years old she’s starting to slow down but still loves her walks, chasing balls, catching balls, destroying toys, barking at skateboarding 🛹 dudes, barking, and going nuts. I love my Jack! Where can I rescue another Jack!
This video was painful to watch 1. Most of what was said is a myth or just false. Spayed or neutered pets do not live longer than intact dogs. Many factors such as diet, health, weight, breed, genetics and temperament determine how long a dog lives. Early spay and neuter (before 18-24 months old) have been linked to many health issues including increased risk of certain cancers, joint issues like arthritis, neurological issues, and urinary incontinence. Spaying and or neutering your dog before they reach maturity is one of the worst things you could possibly do. 2. Neutered males actually pick more fights than intact males. Aggression can not be solved or avoided by simply neutering your dog. It comes down to training and in some cases genetics. Neutering your dog to prevent aggression is a lazy way and usually unsuccessful way of doing things. You need to be a responsible pet owner and actually train and properly socialize your dog that’s the only true way to prevent aggression. 3. Male dogs can be easily trained not to mark and neutered males can continue to mark if it’s already become a learned behavior. 4. If your dog has already started the habit of humping things neutering is very unlikely to change that proper training is the best way to prevent or solve that behavioral issue. This whole video is a steaming pile of bullshit. You want to prevent behavioral issues be a responsible pet owner and TRAIN your dog!!. And no training isn’t just sit for a treat. It’s don’t run up to other people are animals, walk nicely on a leash, don’t bark at other dogs on walks, etc. as for the health side of things again spaying and neutering does not guarantee a longer life. You need to consider all factors to truly determine how to make sure your dog lives the longest and happiest life possible.
I absolutely adore the Jack Russell. A lovable and amazing little JRT blessed our home for 15 years until he passed in October2022. I love to see videos that promote all the great things about JRTs. But I also like to see that accurate information about the things that aren’t so great included, too. Some people don’t learn about those things, then get a JRT puppy who ends up getting dumbed later. How cruel it is to take a pup from its litter mates, allow it to bond with your family, then abandon it because it’s more work than expected! On that note, most JRTs, especially the short smooth coats, are shedders!!!!! It never stops. JRTs are NOT the best fit for a family with other small pets or small children. Their prey drive is hard wired in and not likely to be successfully extinguished (or muted) through training. It’s been bred into every inch of their tightly packed little muscle bound bodies, from their very beginnings. Jack Russells are generally friendly with adults who are welcomed into the home by you, and also with well balanced pet visitors, but it will also depend a great deal on how well they’ve been socialized. Remember, they’ve been consistently bred to hunt, they’re athletic, protective, high energy, agile, surprisingly strong and fast, and they absolutely have no fear. It could not end well at all for a family with cats and toddlers who adopts a young JRT based on inaccurate information about their temperament. Someone who doesn’t have a clear understanding of the ways this is a BIG dog inside a little dog’s bod will have more than one rude awakening. But by learning about the breed and how not to assume anything about their behavior or capabilities based on their small size Before adopting one, this lovable, clever, funny, and never boring little super dog will be hard to outdo!! Remembering Barney Waddlesworth Shortfellow, the Furred 🐾💕🐾
My spouse retired right at 2 years ago and he can’t understand why the youngest follows him all day. I’ve told him that she is inquisitive about her newest all day companion, why he is at home now rather than gone. They are best buds which actually gives me some much appreciated Mr time.
My jack Russell is 16yr old and still fit and active, had most of his teeth removed all but 4, his eyesight and hearing have deteriorated slightly but other than that he's still going strong he as his off days just like we all do 🤣... I've had him since he was about 4/5 months old and he's my absolute everything, wherever I go he goes he may be 16 but he'll always be my baby I just hope and pray he as many more years left with me
My Jack Russell, Jakey was about 2-3 years when I rescued him in 2004. Sadly he passed away at the end of Dec. 2022. They are the best of dogs and I loved him and miss him so much.
Our little girl is 5 her name is Marta. She is the joy of our lives, the sweetest and fiesty little creature. Could not imagine life without her. Love to all the Jack Russell doggies and their humans
Great video! I've always had my female dogs spayed before first heat without any problems. My males have been neutered between 6-9 months without issues also.
Many vets and experts recommend waiting until your dog reaches maturity before spaying and neutering as early spay and neutering has been linked to health issues such as increase risk of certain cancers, obesity, neurological issues, urinary incontinence, joint issues such as arthritis, and more. And from a structural stand point it also messes with how are dog grows. You can usually look at a dog and tell immediately if they were pediatric neutered or spayed because they tend to be lanker than others of their breed and I’ve seen a lot of them maintain a puppy type body way longer than they were supposed to. I highly recommend you look up Karen Baker, she was a vet that always recommended early spay and neuter until she started seeing the defects of it as her patients got older.
Mine is 16 and going strong. Has a murmur last 2 years but never affected her. Has good hearing and eyesight and has always been in good health. Even as they age they never feel old - everything still feels fresh and new with my girl
Mine lived to 18. She was very active to around 15 years old. Even though she was blind at an early age she would still play by listening to her toys hit the ground. And she knew my house very well. On the contrary my best friend adopted a Jack Russell at 3 years old and he is very docile. Will play when he wants to but for the most part he wants affection.
Thank you so much, I always wondered why my baby Jack turns aggressive on his harness even against his favourite sister, my Golden Retriever, he normally adores her and they play forever, until he wears his harness. Thank you so much and bless you
