Back then, it was believed that only gay men could get aids from other gay men. So, how did I get it was a good question. In other words, sex with women was believed to be safe.
Bird had a sorry team in that last year in college. Michigan had a solid team and knew Bird was thier only player. They doubled and tripled him all game
Magic himself says Bird was better than him. When the both was at thier peak everyone in the league knew Bird was better. I love kobe but he is not quit the goat. Bird and MJ 1A and 1B either way you want to stack it.
The tragedy is that there's just not as much footage available from the Bird/Magic era as today. These plays come from regular old games - Bird made a few passes that blew your mind EVERY night. If the video tech and accessibility from the '80s matched up with the 2020s, Bird or Magic pass highlight vids would be HOURS long.
my favorite player during the Run and Gun Suns era. His dunk vs Olowakandi is picture-perfect. Duncan and the Spurs couldn't stop him so they had to resort to MMA. lol
John Stockton. Not even close. And even though I've been watching since the late 80s, I'm not an old head saying the 80s guys were more skilled. However, John is an exception. 5:1 assist to turnover. Over 60% True shooting percentage. Over 40% from 3. Steals and assist leader, tough defender. One of the greatest ever to run the 2-man action. AI shot 39% from the field once. Stockton's 3 point percentage is better than that.
Just look up Magic’s passing video it’s like 6 minutes long. Lebron focuses on scoring for himself. You’ll not find another to match Bird End of story Magic knew it
That’s why Magic called him the greatest player of all time. He didn’t try to be the scorer all the time. He wanted his teammates to be able to score . Parish said Bird was the reason he racked up so many points
This is not a mix tape. It is just his passing. I’ve watched others just passing and they are like 6 minutes and don’t hold a candle to Bird just saying
@@narutopoint Nope, there was nothing to watch. The man was hurt and a shell of himself. Carmelo was running the show. Amare was nothing without Nash. They pretty much inflated each other's stats like Malone and Stockton did with each other. So spare me your fanboy responses.
@@younglove3362 dawg he had 25 one year without Nash. Melo and Amare’s play styles clashed. And injuries obviously suck when they total up on your body over time. To say he needs Steve Nash is just wrong.
@erichierl2295 Nope, Melo and his playstyle clashed because it wasn't Melo. Amare is athletic and a high jumper but needs someone to facilitate him. He's no Duncan, Garnett, Dirk, Webber, or Sheed. He's not even a Jermaine O,Neal. You're over rating him. I been knew he'd be a hinderence without a facilitator and playing that run and gun style will only eventually expose him. Stop fanboying out.
The one thing you have to recognize the league is different now then it used to be. It was a much more physical league back than , making it much more difficult to accomplish some of the things he did. I grew up watching those games, believe me it was different!!!!!
Glad you mentioned the Making The Case series. His theory about Russell is that the number of titles Russell won in college and on the Celtics is so high it is laughable. 11? Too many. What else was going on? We're the rules different? No. Were players shorter? No. In fact, players were taller in the 60s. 6'9" Russell routinely went up against seven plus footers like Wilt. And had a 48" vertical leap. A very QUICK leap. Which almost means more than how tall you are. a buzzer beater that Kerr would never have made that shot in1963 or 1969. Why? No one would have signed him. He just wasn't good enough day in, day out to be a professional ball player in the 60s. And how about a video on Red Auerbach? The only true genius in team sports. He invented the 6th man concept. He taught the fast break, led by a weird looking big man who couldn't score, but was a rebounding machine. And shot blocking machine. The guy invented the modern NBA with his pressure to change the rules in1955/1956. He made the position of center one of a rebounding/blocking/passing position. And he treated Russell differently. Russ didn't have to practice. He was painfully shy. In return, Russell did what Red told him and gave.the Celts 11 titles. He got his career 15 ppg. But the only stat Red, Russell, Cousy KC, Hondo cared about was the end of the season stat. Who went home with the trophy? And Red was dirty and arrogant. He would light that victory cigar up on the road with three minutes left and Boston up by five. Only 5. It drove opposing teams crazy. It drove Celtic players crazy because when Red lit that cigar, on the road, the arena went crazy and the opposing team went into overdrive. He also paid people to trip fire alarms in the middle of the night at hotels in Boston where the opposing team was staying. And lots of bomb threats got called in to these hotels. A lot of impromptu Bruins practices sprang up in the Bruin-owned Garden when it was time for the other team to practice. So they would have to find a nearby high school or college gym. Hey, WE don't own the Garden, the Bruins do, Red would say in all innocence. Red was the first to start five black players. That is a little dishonest because he had HAVLICEK as his 6th man. During Playoff series, he banned players from bringing their families on the road. It made players meaner, he felt. Red started integrated road trip housing. Meaning white and black players roomed together. McHale said that that was what made HIM a better player on the road because he roomed with ML CARR, and McHale said Carr talked trash about other players and teams IN HIS SLEEP. He said he only clotheslined Ram is because Carr had spent the night saying "No layups!" in his sleep. How many coach of the year awards did Red get? One. But players voted on the MVP. which means they looked at those stacked Celtic teams and said Russell is the chef on that team. So let the chef cook.
Where is Bill Russell in all these videos? Don't 11 titles, 2 NCAA titles, 1 Olympic Gold, and 5 MVPs (voted on by the PLAYERS) mean anything? When Oscar Robertson averaged a triple double for the 62 or 63 season, who got the MVP? Bill Russell.
More like Johnson and his Hollywood passing and Bird's Boston Blue Collar passing. I will say Magic is the best passing guard, but Bird is the best passing forward. The best passer of all time? I'm a Celtic fan😊.
First thing I think of would be his fourth-quarter shootout with Larry Bird in game 7. Legendary. A close second would be his Thor level hammer down, out of nowhere, put back slams. BTW: I never appreciated what you mentioned in the video. NBA players today in the Dunk Contest can’t beat Mac McClung, a guy not even in the NBA. ‘Nique got his by beating Jordan, Dr. J, and Clyde the Glide. Just the guys who more or less invented high flying, never before seen, dunks. 😂
Check out the day when a reporter bet Larry he could make more free throws than larry had tape on his hand from being in a bar fight, well Larry had his whole hand taped up into a ball, and Larry used just his left hand check it out😂
I love you guys, you normally speak the truth but you are dead wrong. You were talking about a current NBA that does these type of passes that’s normal nowadays they only learn that from Larry Bird back in the 80s in the 80s nobody was doing this and the 90s nobody was doing this. A white dude do this in 80s incredible.
Love Magic too, but Larry was a more complete player. Both top 5 in my lifetime (can't speak to Wilt, Russell, and Kareem since they were before my time).
Just claiming Magic Johnson is the better passer without giving any reason why makes your opinion weak and unfounded. Even MJ at Bird's retirement ceremony gave him a t-shirt writing on it "to the best player ever".
It's taken 40 years for me to see players make plays like Larry (They are different players from different eras after Larry), but he did it on the regular.
I saw Nique play in the Omni well over a dozen times. I have never seen a more athletic man. Back then you could get a ticket, popcorn, and a coke for $20. You could usually change seats after the 1st quarter and the best row was row 6, you were eye level to the rim. Nique was the epitome of attack the rim, like it owed him money. Nique feared no man at the rim, not one. Or three.
