Have a phobia of hair Saloons, when one destroyed my hair doing a relax job. Had a massive bald patch for months. Grow locks myself for about 35years. It's the hard water in london that causes the breakage and brittlenes. I've found that using spring water and essential oils makes my hair soft and shiny. I've used apple cider and baking soda and it dried the hell out of my hair. Fairy Washing up liquid really takes a lot of gunk out of my hair. Your hair looks lovely by the way.
Awww thank you and thanks for sharing your experiences. It’s so true the hard water 💦 in London does cause dryness but adding a filter to your shower tap 🚰 can help a lot as it filters out all the stuff that drys out the hair. Sorry about your phobia with Salons it can be quite daunting especially if you’ve experienced a bald patch 🤦🏾♀️. I’ve stopped using baking soda on my locks too harsh. The fairy liquid is best but not to be used regularly as that can also be drying.
I kept mine for just over a month sometimes longer, you just got to keep checking it to make sure it isn’t rancid. If it’s fresh Aloe Vera juice from the plant I keep it for a couple of weeks max! Hope that helps. ☺️
How often do you retwist? Do you recommend the crochet method for someone with thinner locs and damaged edges? I don't know whats better? Or should i jus let my locs be?
I retwist one every couple of months or when I feel my Locs need it. I prefer to semi Freeform. I personally wouldn’t recommend crocheting on damaged Locs. I would recommend you let your Locs be for a while and concentrate on deep conditioning treatments. I will do a video specially for you in mind on what to do with damaged Locs and thinning edges. You’ve got me brainstorming now. Thank you! 😊
@@mazznaturals please I will be sitting on.the edge of my chair waiting for your especially on deep conditioning. I'm from SA by the way. Thank you for showing me so much love
Oh I thought it might be a typo! No problem ☺️ when you say you don’t have edges is that through traction alopecia or through other means? Don’t cut your Locs until you explore other options. My edges got thin at a stage of my Loc journey I just stopped using certain products and changed my Loc care routine. I also stopped wearing tight styles. I also make sure my edges are well moisturised. I hope this helps.
Your video last year about not using Aloe V too often blah, blah, blah. I was just wounder why you have big gaps in your crown area. Ever thought of not using it for 2 months and see if you the hair grows back in that area? Just a thought. ❤
I didn’t use Aloe Vera for a few months. I’ve just started reintroducing it as it really conditions my locs. I was only using Rosemary water. My crown area looks gappy due to menopause 🤔 that’s the only explanation you’re not the only one who’s mentioned that. I will be keeping an eye on it and let you know how I get on. Thank you for your comment 😊❤️.
Hello! Your video just came across my timeline. Are you related to Melissa Blake (Former Sisterlock Consultant/Creator of Knotted Locs Technique)? Ya'll look sooo much alike! Just wondered. Love your vibe!
Your hair looks great! ☺️ ✨ Glad that it’s progressing/growing back. I sometimes dread going to get my hair retwisted because my loctition always finds at least a few new thinning roots/locs to combine. Your silver looks beautiful as well 💕
Hey Sis nice to hear from you thank you so much! ☺️ yes at last I can see growth. It’s good your Loctition can spot any thinning before it’s too late. I’m kinda getting used to my silver hairs 👩🏾🦳 it took some time ☺️❤️🙏🏾
Yes I was thinking someone would mention that 😳 I thought that when I was editing 🤔. When I do a retwist I seem to get that gappy look which I hate hence why I don’t retwist often. I normally style it differently until the retwist get a bit old. I’m keeping an eye on it though. I Appreciate your honesty 😊.
Thank you……no they don’t unravel but over time they go into a more compressed point naturally. You can always palm roll to encourage the matting together. I personally don’t mind the blunt look in the beginning. My Locs Matt together quickly 😊
Would it be okay to tie VERY tiny knots at the ends of starter locs to make sure they don’t unravel? (On week three currently, day 3 of week three specifically.)
Awww you have starter Locs!!! 🎉🤩congratulations. I don’t see a problem with that…once they are mature you may not notice the Knot and if you do you can just snip it off. I used to use rubber bands on the end of my starter Locs. However I think if you can tie a small knot with your own hair that would be better on my honest opinion. Hope that helps 😊
This is my second loc journey and on the first one I was a product junkie. This time I refused to be so my products have been very minimal. I have been loced for four years and I use Design Essentials Oat Protein & Henna Shampoo for my first wash and the Honey Moisture Rentention Shampoo for my second wash. I also use the Rosemary Mint Conditioner. The only other products I use are rose water, castor oil and aloe vera juice and gel. Love love and love my locs.
Will copy your style just need to buy those rods & pins etc. My locs are very long so can’t manage it much. But your style is simple next year will do myself. ❤😘😘🙏🏾🙏🏾
I'm approaching my 2-year mark in 5 weeks, January 23rd, 2024 And I have not used oils in my locs since approximately the 6th month. I spritz my hair daily with distilled water with a few drops of tea tree essential oil.. I wash my hair approximately every 9 days. I also brush my locks and make it a habit to shake my hair out once a day to get rid of any settled dust.. My hair always smells fresh and clean due to the washings and especially the tea tree which acts as an antibacterial cleanser to your scalp. My first 6 months I was literally spritzing my hair with olive oil and water daily and boiling my scalp with Jamaican black castor oil every 2 to 3 days. I never had seborrheic dermatitis until then. I've since learned that oils feed the yeast on your scalp which increases dandruff and support dermatitis.. The funny thing is when I go to wash my hair on the 9th day and I rub my fingers on my scalp It is slightly oily because you'rr scalp produces its own oil.. I would never use oil in my locs again.
Wow! 😮 thank you for sharing your experience with The no oil. Unfortunately I didn’t have the same experience my Locs got really dry and brittle and started breaking. I did do an update video. My Locs are now thriving and restored back to health. I think if the no oil is working for you then stick with it. Thank you for sharing really appreciate your detailed feedback. Please keep me updated on how it’s going would be interested to know. 😊
Thank you my lovely ☺️……I did pin under the bun but I just realised what the struggle was 🥴. The pins I used wasn’t long enough 😰🫢. I will try and recreate the style in a short video once I get some long pins. 😉😊
Thanks for sharing. Another informative video. I must up my water as a standard because I haven’t been so good.🙈 I also liked your advice about conditioners. I traditionally use cream based conditioners but I will try a water based one in the future.
You’re most welcome I appreciate your comment….yes water 💦 is the best for hair and drinking. I noticed a big difference when I drank more water 💦 especially during these winter 🥶 months. Yes I prefer leave in water based conditioners my hair loves them! Give it a try although as a loose natural you can get away with cream based conditioners as you can rinse 🚿 them out throughly. ☺️
Awwww amazing!! 🤩 Yes the juicer is the best I’ve brought to be honest but most expensive 🙈 but well worth it in my opinion! 😉👌🏾😊 well done for taking control of your health sis I’m rooting for you!!! 👏🏾👏🏾😊🙏🏾
I’m a loc specialist and Vera will not break off your locks it creates water based moisture what she advised is far from correct ! Hope this helps !! Continue to use it girly that why your locs are so healthy !!
