Marco does it have a rock guitar sound?
@marcofacchinmusic
@marcofacchinmusic 23 часа назад
Hi Jack, yes it does have some rock gt sounds, but honestly guitar tones are not good on keyboards because you don't have muck dynamic and you cannot imitate the pick, both for strumming or rhythmical phrases. You can use some of them, i.e. I used a nylon guitar sound live for a theatre project and that was good. You can use some of the clean sounds for an arpeggio, maybe play a short lick or play one part in a song where guitar is not the main instrument, but that's it. You cannot expect to replicate a famous gt riff. I play guitar very basic, I can play some chords, power chords or easy melodies. I prefer to do that and do some edit instead of playing it with keyboard.

@@user-ed9hj8fm2t I said that‘s what Yamaha claims on their webpage. I really hope that the new MotifX8 sounds better. Anyway, that is not my point and I was not making any comparison. I was showing the sounds of the Mx61 and saying in which context I‘m using it. In any case the patches are very good for this price. It would be great if you could do a video comparing Motiv or ModX and the mx series. Lmk. Cheers

@@sakunminuka3450It’s hard to make a recommendation, you can hear the sounds from my video and decide if you like them. As said, the keybed is cheap. If you like yamaha sounds - pianos, Ep pads, brass - the patches are in their style, and to me very good for this price. You should try it out at a music store. If all you're looking for is a VERY portable keyboard that is suitable for open jams and other meaningless gigs, I recommend the Casio CT-S500, which is only $349. Don't pay $800 or whatever the Yamaha goes for. The Casio has less processing power (because it has two speakers and because of the cost I'm sure), but I'm consistently able to layer two sounds to fit the cover song that I'm trying to replicate. The MX61 is a little higher fidelity, but in the mix with bass, drums, etc it doesn't really matter. The Casio CT-S500 is also a little bit smaller than the MX61. You can hold it like a book and take it to your gig with a cheap little $15 sustain pedal in your back pocket. And, if you get mugged, you're only out of $349. LOL! Both of these keyboards have light 'synth action' keys. If you want the highest quality sounds then buy something better than either one of these cheap boards. For strictly piano, you can't beat the rich sound of the Yamaha P125 B at $700.
@marcofacchinmusic
@marcofacchinmusic 2 месяца назад
you cannot compare apples with pears. The Casio is cheaper because it does a lot of less stuff than the MX61. The sound quality might not matter to you, but it does to me. I am pretty sure the Casio does not have patches of theMODx, which the MX61 does have. It maybe that it does not make a difference in you band's mix, but in mine, it does. Of course a Yamaha digital Piano is not much more expensive, but we are talking about two very distinct keyboards, it is so obvious that we don't even need to mention it. I'm actually saying it in the video that the MX61 is a good match for a live gig if you already have a bigger workstation or a piano. Summing up, I don't really understand what's your point

Hey Karl, some of them do loose indeed a bit of low end when using the mod wheel, although not every time does the MW trigger the leslie. I do have a "Yamaha MX49" (for Motif Sounds) and I am using it together with a "Roland Fantom-06" (for the Jupiter, Juno, D-50, TR-drum-machines, sounds, etc....). That is a perfect combination of sounds, because every of both keyboards has its own special sound characteristic. And on top of these, there is also a "Yamaha Reface DX", for the FM Sounds. All together are perfect for the Sound of the 80`s and 90`s. And that is wonderful !! 👍👍

Ciao Marco, quali sono secondo te i punti di forza di ModX rispetto ad altre workstation di fascia media sul mercato?
@marcofacchinmusic
@marcofacchinmusic Год назад

Hi Darryl, thanks for stopping by. I don’t have the CK61, I saw demos on YT. In my opinion, these are different types of keyboards. The CK is more focused on live performance, it’s the little brother of the YC 61. The MX61 is an entry-level workstation. The CK has built-in speakers (great for acustic rehearsals and songwriting), the MX61 doesn’t. The MX also does not run on batteries. The action is probably better on the ck model. I understand that the CK cannot playback midifiles and wav files. You need to see how much this is important to you. With the MX61 you can also control the DAW of your computer. You don’t have this feature on the CK, however the CK too can turn into an interface like the MX. So basically a lot depends on your needs. I am using the MX61 when I have rehearsals or performances in small stages, where the piano does not play a main role. And not because of the sound, but because the keyboard is very light and it’s not easy to play piano cleanly on that. I bought mine for € 550, now here in Europe the prices are €699 for the MX61 and €999 for the CK61. I hope I was of some help.

I don't have any synthesizer. I graduated from the conservatory and I plan to start writing music soon, along the way choosing synthesizers. But for myself, I see this synthesizer as a great tool to capture the idea, not to be distracted by winding sounds. And, since this instrument incorporates the legendary Roland synthesizers, even if you are not happy with the sound, you will perfectly understand which synths will sound better. In other words, this is the best synthesizer for sketching. (Sorry, I don't know the language well, so I used google translate)
@marcofacchinmusic
@marcofacchinmusic 2 года назад
Hi, actually for just writing music I do prefer the piano (I'm talking here traditional music, not electronic), even if the work should be then arranged for another ensemble. When you use a synthesizer you are captured by a particular sound and you write stuff that is exactly idiomatic to that very patch. So, kind of the other way round you were figuring out. Watch for your doc google translator: I never said I'm not happy with the sound, on the contrary, I love these sounds!!!

The System 8 seems like a lovely synth but the pricepoint is odd. It's basically a 1600$ vst that comes with a keyboard and knobs. The Korg Prologue 16 is the same exact price but is a big analog polysynth.
@marcofacchinmusic
@marcofacchinmusic 2 года назад
Thanks for your feedback! I haven’t tried the Korg Prologue. Looking at the specs you may think that all those analog stuff should be more expensive... I got mine used for 1000€, I think it’s a good price. Anyway, I think your statement is not really correct. You may say the same about a lot of equipment out there...look at some gt gear: what is a Kemper after all? Or a axe fx? I owned a Clavia G2X, that was really a vst with a keyboard. At the end, I guess users are willing to pay for some hardware, no matter what’s inside. To me, there are many criteria that drove me to buy this particular synth. Easy of use, very good sound, and of course lots of knobs that I can tweak ex tempore without my mouse! Portability is also a key feature. I don’t need to travel with a computer + interface. So, there’s a lot more than a vst and to me it was worth 1k. That being said, what really sucks about the System 8 ist the very limited storage capability of patches. Unbelievalble in the 21st century!!! Also the fact that the multy-patch (performances) can’t be edited separated is ridiculous!!!!! Wtf! Nevertheless, I have enough space for a live performance, it’s just annoying that you can’t save more patches. Also the D/A coverters could be better.... still, I believe it’s a very good synth for the price and I recommend it to people like me: musicians who are not synth geeks, but still would like to create original sounds and benefit from an easy machine.
@epicon6
@epicon6 2 года назад
@@marcofacchinmusic Yeah it's subjective. And even though the System-8 is available as a 150$ vst, it would have not even been created without the System-8 as a physical product. And analog emulation is so great that if you load a Jupiter-8 as a plug out in to the System-8 it's techically worth like 20 000$ more. And having all controlles mapped to the keyboard gives a whole different experience than controlling all parameters spread to sixteen 8 knob pages. So i understand it's worth but can't justify it to myself personally.
