The maze at the Cathedral was designed to help the pilgrim find the correct and proven path, to give him Ariadne's thread to lead him through life's maze. Another Pagan site which was adopted by the church and the meaning was twisted to fit their faith. Ridiculous if you ask me. lol
Sounds like you're talking about the natural human process of enriching culture through building upon what comes before. Is that relegated only to the Catholic Church?
