Just replaced it in my 04 Accord...1st step PUT IT IN NEUTRAL lol don't make my mistake. If you do though, find an extra key and manually move it with the little slot next to the stick.
Im having a check engine light that comes on and off ehrn plugged my obd reader the code for this comes up... but i am NOT having any issues turning on my car. Why woukd that be?
Great video, clear instructions. Just did this on my 2011 Accord. Found it easier to remove the plug after undoing the 2 bolts. Total time about 20mins.
Did this work for you? I'm currently having intermittent starting problems with a good tested battery new ground cable and new starter. Maybe it's this?
@@Tone223 Nope. Reach your hand to the starter and wiggle the hot wire that goes to it. Try to really move it. That was my issue. Changed the starter, which was a pain. And the problem came back. A Few months later. I wiggle the wire and that was the issue all along.
@BlackDynamite901 cool. I'm gunna try that. Yea, I have a 06 civic it's a real pain in the ass to change it out. I really don't wanna do it again. 🤣. Was your car giving you one click? It's the weirdest thing. It'll start for like a week, then randomly, it won't start just one click at the starter. Have to turn the key over and over and over .. but if I put jumper cables on it, it'll start. Almost like it's not getting enough power from the battery at times, and the jump is helping it go
@@Tone223 I got no sounds or clicks whatsoever. The lights on dash all came on like normal but nothing else happened. Even thought my key fob went bad.Are your wires/terminals corroded ?
@BlackDynamite901 I triple checked the battery terminals all clean and tight. Thought maybe it was the ignition switch but I have a remote start and even that doesn't work when it won't start. I get lights on the dash radio and everything. But just 1 click from the starter. I might just have to take the hit and take it in the shop idk yet tho.
Super awesome video, I followed your steps To inspect and determine what are the faults and just save me take me to BMW and painter one hour labor $170 doing this by myself dummy more appreciation and knowledge on my ex five and you did excellent instructions and tips I’m really happy you made this video
My final stage lasted 2 weeks. It turned out the main problem was the BLOWER MOTOR located way down below the dashboard assembly. I had a mobile BMW mechanic come to my home and it took him 7 hours to do this job. He had to completely removed the entire dashboard, steering wheel, middle console etc. cost me $700 for labor and $150 for a brand new blower motor.
when u change the final stage unit u have to replace the fan blower as well ... the blower is working hard not spinning properly or just one side of it spins and the other doesn't so u get a fake feeling of it working fine after replacing the final stage unit but actually is working half blown causing the FSU to blow up again... so when u change the FSU make sure u take out the ac blower motor also out and replace it cause that is #1 cause that makes fuses and other things cascade fail. i have the same problem, my AC motor doesn't spin so im guessing the FSU blown up or cooked slowly after i parked my car cause it didn't want to work anymore when i started it again 2 days later ... so i have checked all fuses all relays etc everything is fine... the FSU im 6.1 foot or 1.88 m heigh and around 100kg dude.. so i can't fits my hands in there to get that FSU out i have to take apart the entire dashboard my index finger blocks my view lol and the entire space there. so i have to get it to a mechanic and fix this two parts.. problem is e46 from 2004 is worth 1000$ average that blower motor and the FSU unit is worth on second-hand market place around 500$ so im actually considering to scrap the fkin car now... or find a way to start the blowing motor without the FSU and have a relay or smaller fuse that blows up when or if the motor overheats like a direct unit starter thing.. cause replacing with OM parts is not worth the car value is a 20 year old car... unless u did some insane engine mods to it ... not worth the investment.
@@GeorgeZaharia How ya doin pilgrim. Are u needing help still with your blower and controls? Let me know I can give you my email or cell phone and one way I can just use voice, another way is I can like draw couple pictures, write some stuff down for parts acquisition, and just send those images to you. Probably can save you from having to change out the motor itself by doing a in-dash almost no labor blower motor restoration and run a relay to a 3-speed rotary switch or maybe something that looks more oh yeah and a three-button switch
To do this on a right hand drive it’s is exactly the same and he did it in the video only problem is the pedals are in the way. My son spent 1 hour so trying to get it out and managed to everything is in the exact same place as he shown in the video. The main problem is the clip is hard to get to while pushing it down and trying to pull the fsu out aswell 👍
Only note I would add here is that the resistor does release once you push down the tab. You don’t have to push the tab and pull the resistor at the same time. Probably saved me $5000 at the dealer LOL, (those shysters). I had different symptoms than most of the other people on these videos. My blower would not shut off even when the car was off, so if this is you, this does fix that problem as well. I had to disconnect my battery to keep it from draining. Just remember to not close your trunk with the battery disconnected, though there is a release on the gate.
ME TOO! I still haven't been able to fix the issue!! im shocked to find such recent videos and posts on the same problem Im having with my 2002 x5 3.0i
Usually you would think that it's a relay or something that's causing the fan to run even with the key off and typically the resistor would be a problem when you have no low or medium operation of the speed of the fan but the fan would turn off with the key. BMW and Mercedes are now the laughing stock of the engineering world
2006 bmw x5 e53 m54 3.0i, Anyone happen to know the fuser number for the FSU? I think mine might be draining my battery over nite. I want to pull fuse till I gett to look at fsu. is it same fuse u identified as blower motor fuse TIA
I ordered a replacement at www.fsueuro.com recently it is on its way. I did go to pick it yourself salvage yard but found no similar vehicles. good luck
that's why Im here!! I bought this car drove it home and the battery was dead the next day, even with the car turned off the heat would still blow so I had pull the fuse as a temporary fix but I see what I have to do now.
@@zacharylovejoy8139 could be the cellular phone unit also or what would have been unit to use a phone in these vehicles. This happened to me and that's what it was. Any thing that doesn't allow the vehicle to enter and stay in sleep mode will drain battery.
My dad's van starts ok. Have a code that says there is a selector switch problem and the 'D' indicator flashes. A trans shop said that the switch is the likely culprit.
