I'm 6 ft 2 and I weigh 300 lb and I own this bike right now currently. I started on a ninja 1100 and I've ridden up to 1300 cc's. Been riding 16 years. I absolutely love this bike and it is the most fun that I have had since I've been riding. I put a 15 tooth sprocket to make first gear longer consequently though every gear is a little taller now so it's slightly less torque. I wish we would stop calling these beginner bikes. Powerband kicks in over 8,000 RPMs and then that thing just wants to rip for a small bike that's where the fun is. 8000 - 13000 RPM. Fun little bike. The bike is plenty fast for City riding and she does the highway fine. You won't break any sound barriers and you'll have to plan your takeovers when passing. But this bike is absolutely perfect for around town in the city and through twisties. Still faster than most cars. A smaller lighter Rider will have different results. I'm telling you man this bike is great
I know this is an old video but can you share any tips for setting the sag on this bike? I can’t seem to get mine dialed in at 185lbs, it’s pretty unruly in the corners wallowing about and head shaky at speed. Anything would help cheers buddy!
Do you have the correct spring rate to match your rider weight? How are you measuring sag? What sag number are you reaching for and what is your static sag?
@@ridendrive I used the bmw manual directions to do it which is suggested at 20mm rear and about 10mm front with key on in road mode. With that the rear has no static sag, doesn’t move under its own weight. And I can’t imagine they didn’t make springs for a 185 lb rider kitted up that’s right in the middle of their range of humans.
Just got a 2013 one a few weeks ago as my first bike. Your review is absolutely right, it rides really well and has plenty of power to scoot around town comfortably
Superb review. Really good review with steady naration. Nailed everything i wanted to know including the heat of the bike which got covered at the end of the video.
Nice how is it treating you. Also if you have a browse around RU-vid you'll also find detailed videos of how to use the instrument cluster and the settings
Ive seen many videos on the s1000R and this review on this model is the most useful. Great job! Very comprehensive and easy to watch considering the length of the video (which for a review is preferable) Im subscribing
I bought my second ninja 300 3 days ago. My first ninja was 2013 with 23500km which I sold 2 years ago but my second ninja is 2014 with only 5800km it's like a brand new bike and I love it because it's light weight and nimble
Phenomenal track, especially these days with the brand-new pavement and updates. The BMW was pretty darn reliable. I had around 6k track miles on it and it really didn't skip a beat.
Cones were used to push riders away from the sound tower which checks the sound levels of each bike passing by as each track day has sound level requirements that must be met. The cones is frankly not the best idea and of course impedes on your lap times, but that is just what some of the organizations do unfortunately.
Great review and opinion! The only think I don't agree is calling the low cc a "beginner bike" . This bike can be a weapon on experienced hands. It dosent make 600cc power , but balancewise is an amazing bike that can makeup for the lesser engine!
Nice review...I just sold my GSA 1250 and consider to buy this. However, I am concerning my height is only 5.7 which is too short for PA? Thanks and subscribed.
I just got my first bike five days ago and it is exactly gsxr 2013 750 shown here. He’s accurate about everything I had the same experience ! My friends read we’re shock and amaze how quickly I learn and got comfortable riding the bike
Excellent review, iv just picked up my first s1000rr, iv had all the 1litres,fireblade, sp1,gsxr,zxr,rsv. I love the s1000rr, iv always been gsxr guy,I had 6 of them, believe it or not,bmw based there s1000rr engine of the gsxr1000 k5 engine, and to me the bmw has some of characteristic of the gsxr, engine wise 👌 anyway brilliant review
I just stumbled across your review. UK rider here with a 2021 Yamaha tracer 900 it's as known here. I upgraded from a Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 (great bike by the way) to my Tracer. What a bike it is though, I agree wth everything you said. I absolutely love this bike and that engine is just superb, torque everywhere and a fast revving nature that is perfect for everyday riding. I was looking for that do it all bike and I think I have at last found it. Very comfortable, good riding position and real world power and acceleration that you can actually use makes for a perfect package. There isn't a perfect bike in my opinion but this comes close for me. I agree on the suspension, yeah that could be better but after all this is a budget sports tourer that hits the spot in so many ways . Superb review, informative factual and real world.
Best detailed review of this bike on RU-vid. Would you still buy this bike now in 2022 if you found a used one with low miles at a decent price? Or would you buy something newer like the 2020 tracer 900 gt or the new 2021/2022 tracer 9 gt?
