I never knew there was a harpsichord version! It's beautiful, and so is the artwork! I could listen to this all the time, and get uplifting vibe. Of course, it was one of my faves when it came out...but this is just so coo.
From now on, this is my favorite version of the motive, along the original one. In all honesty, I was unaware that you can make a harpsichord alone sound like an actual orchestra.
The harpsichord had a few variations. the main difference is that the harpsichord has no dynamics (the string is plucked rather than struck) so the notes will always be the same volume. This lead to the invention of the Piano-forte (soft loud) now just called the piano. The piano's construction allowed both for more volume and the ability to play notes Piano (softly or Forte (loudly) and the range in-between. some versions had double keys. the harpsichord was also part of the transition from well-temperament (tuning based on the key) to equal temperament (more modern tuning)
I can't tell if this belongs in an Atari side-scroller or a film that centers around an artefact belonging to the Hapsburgs circa 1698, but I'd like either one.
