The best video I've seen in YEARS, thank you so much for sharing this with the internet, I really appreciate this content and EVEN MORE if we're talking about my favorite game and the one that marked my childhood and the childhood of many other people! A BIG THANK YOU
This video is amazing! Me and my GF had a fun time watching through this, and you introduced me to an amazing mashup cover as well oml it's so good. I'm really glad to see someone love the story, as well. When I reacted to every sonic game in order semi-blind these past few months, I went straight to this after beating Frontiers, and I was so happy to see someone react to the dialogue interactions so positively, they feel so natural, like chats I could genuinely see them have -- it's great. Whatever you're doing, I hope you're still cooking peak, on *or* off the platform. Take care ❤
The fact is when the story for the characters was still being created, it’s clear to see how the simple fact of Sonic being fast fractals outwards into his complete characterisation in all of his Japanese media and translations, and also just all of his English translations between SA1 and Black Knight. But I also love how the Japanese-written cutscenes and _especially_ his game design for all of his better titles portray one singular message. *Your only limitation is your hesitation.* In terms of cutscenes, you see this idea play out with Sonic’s words of wisdom for Elise in Sonic 06, that “If you have time to worry, then run” line which repeats itself in his story’s climax. You also see this idea play out in the opening cutscene for Unleashed, where Sonic, upon realising Eggman just let him stop, observe, and talk his way into a trap, takes more time to be surprised than it would’ve taken him to escape. In terms of game design, time and time again do I see little moments in a level where right after doing one input to make Sonic do something to progress through the level, the fastest way forward ends up right in front of you and all you have to do is press the _right_ button, at the _right_ time, *right* after you hit the last one. And every time I see someone screw up in these small moments, it’s almost always because they hesitated to make a judgement call in the situation instead of _just raising your head and running._ Sonic’s most iconic phrase isn’t “Gotta go fast” for no reason.
Silver needs a steady amount of exposure to get anywhere. He gets stuck in side content most of the time and he debuted in one of the most despised games ever so how do they fix him? Just give him a little bit of exposure in other content so people can warm up to him. His character design is already superb so he has visual appeal and his powers are also very cool and interesting compared to other sonic characters so maybe a short animation or exposure in posts could build his reputation and when they’re ready they can announce a game where he plays a side role or maybe even a main role if people want it enough. Only struggle is silver is so ridiculously powerful you’d need a different formula besides sonics traditional speed formula to make him work effectively
I agree with you, i also notice that in Sonic 2, practically every fight between Sonic and Knuckles ended with Sonic being cornered by Knuckles until someone intervened(Tails/Eggman). Sonic may be the main character and the fastest, but he's not up to a head-on fight for a tough and experienced warrior like Knuckles.
I think, for a potential Silver the Hedgehog game, the Time Stones could make for an interesting plot point. By the way, I wrote this when I was only halfway through the video. Imagine that one day, in the doomed (or maybe undoomed) future, Silver comes across a few time rifts, and uses them to combat threats in the past, maybe some that can time travel. Maybe he discovers the dark timeline where Eggman has won, and this Eggman is supplying Eggman from the other timelines with materials and robots with which to try and take over the world (This could explain why Eggman never seems to run out of robots). Silver could travel to different points in history acting as different stages, with the future acting as the hubworld. And, as the story progresses, the hubworld future can switch between doomed and undoomed. There could also be a new Robot doppelganger built by the dark timeline's Eggman that pursues Silver (could be called Metal Silver or Cold Silver?), and he has one of the time stones built into himself. This doppelganger would be like a reverse of the Terminator, in that it is sent from the past to kill someone in the future. Also, the Time Stones exist as only one set spread across all the timelines. Each time stone can unlock special abilities. The true ending is unlocked when all time stones are collected, and Silver becomes like a Time Lord; maybe he is revealed to have been responsible for creating the time rifts at the beginning of the game. How does that sound?
Also, I had this idea where Silver travels back to a point when Project Shadow is still online; maybe Silver temporarily recruits a younger version of Shadow from before that incident to combat a threat in the past?
I've never thought of having Shadow be a mentor to Silver, but it actually makes a lot of sense, especially since shadow is in a place where he's kinda gone through his major arc, it might give him a role to further develop
I like this, is defenitly better than what the idea i had, in My head i had imagine a world were, taking advantage that the events of 06 were not completly erased from time(based on Elise last scenes and the fact that crisis city is in generations, which should not be the case if it really never happen), it could be made so, while the main cast mostly forgot, maybe whit some remanents feeling or sensations , Silver was for whatever reason affected diferently, he was dislodge from his future timeline . while he enjoys the new future for a while, he eventually sees it all be reemplace because he is not part of that timeline, he is not part of any timeline, the timeline changes every time large amounts of chaos energy are use in the past, sometimes more or less notisable, not all changes are apocaliptic or for the worst, but Silver dosn't change, he remains and remembers, that is how he can keep coming back to prevent destroyed or Bad futures, but it also means he can not really take part of any of the good futures he helps create, so he often just find himself making up dumb excuses to go back to the past were Sonic and Friends are to see the only friends he can really keep. This would require some really dumb leaps in logic like that since he was in his superform when the timeline was rewritten, he somehow got ancher to the specific chaos emeralds of 06, so he is dragg to whatever timeline said emeralds are from, which is why his future is unstable to his eyes, but not the present, on top of that we would have to add some limitations to time travel, like it being very draining to be on a time period You don't originated from, which would explain why he don't just go live on the same time as Sonic and company, he stills does his Best to make a better future for everyone, even if he can't really belong anywere, but the one friend and mentir he has in almost all futures is Shadow, he is not always the exact same, but he always remebers him from the past and is willing to help and train him. The events of generations would show him that the futures that Vanish before his eyes aren't really erased and still exist in some form, so he would do his Best in every future to make it safer and better while he is still conectes to them so when he is dragg to another timeline the one he left would still have a bright future, he would Even help whatever remains, if anything of the apocalyptic timelines he gets dragg into before going to change it on the past so the survivors of that timeline can have a chance.
