If it’s the boat that Bruce Barnes owned back in the day, I ran galley on her back in 1967, ‘68, and ‘69. Also worked the New Lo-Ann when Dick Gaydosh owned it, the Holiday when Steve Giffin owned it, and others. I married a deckhand who (20 years later) bought a 26ft Monterey double ender and commercial fished Salmon out of Monterey. Working for Giffin, I doubled as deckhand when the bite got hot. I could hold a school of Albies on the corner for an hour from the tank, hook and hand, gaff fish, and was pretty good at untangling lines. 45 ish passengers….100+ albacore every trip! I would do it all again in a heartbeat! Those were the good old days, for sure!
My first trip as a youngster back in 1978-79, went on a 7 day trip…. Don & Connie Samson we’re the owners an worked their vessel with a great crew. Sad sorry to tell, one of the oldtimers named “BOB” got hooked up and had a massive heart attack. Very emotional day…… his wife told Don to continue on our trip..they placed in the refrigeration below deck… was a lifetime memory for me. Great boat / owners / crew/ and tons of fish …. Bless you longtime fisherman BOB Some folks still remember that trip down there at the LANDING … was a loved man
I fished a 6-day tuna trip on her about 25 years ago with the late great Jack Nilsen from Accurate Reels. We loaded up on 40-80lb Bluefin and got to try out some of the new Accurate reels. A great boat.
Love Best Fishing in Hawthorne, my go to spot. Izzy is the best and Sky always shows me love. I especially like that I get to fish with these two on the Best charters. Izzy is a gangster on the rail and fishes hard day or night!.
I went out on the pursuit the same day you were on the El Patron. I fished my 30 yr old sabre & a penn 502 HS and won a nice J P which was given to the crew
😂🤣👏 Great job Phil, standing up for ALL the fisherman, Thank you Sir, and I know Macky's saying I got up early for this 🤬 we could've done it all from the house on the phone 🤳 😖🫣😜 thanks again fellas ✊ great job 💙
Next time Carlos take out your 100 yd measuring tape and mark off the area for you so the Lifeguard will prohibit swimmers from coming in contact with you because you have permission from the state to fish there with your fishing license the swimmers and Surfers don't
Phil, Makky, that was so good. You are such a gentleman but not a pushover. Way to dig in to that story. Another question though, and this is important for low income, my question is - If the jetty is man made, would that also be like the piers and such where you don't need a fishing license? Thanks again. You are amazing and I love you bro.
@@Nick_Ramirez89 I know Nick, it is amazing. This is before your time but there used to be a TV show called Kojak, he was a detective and bore a striking resemblance to Phil. Phil could be Kojak, we may never know. Haha.
The lifeguard misunderstood his directions “keep everyone away from the jetty” there is an ordinance for not swimming near jetties and piers 100ft, usually ignored until someone gets hooked and everyone blames the fishermen and not a he surfer who is too close to the pier.
