I’m posting off a different name than my own. The woman dancing the main female role was Muza Gottlieb: my grandmother. If anyone knows other performances that she was in, I’m very curious to find out. I’m also trying to track down the full version of this performance. So far I have bought the abridged version off Amazon.
i don't even care for dancing. i just like the music and the mood. after hearing it for over two years, i have noticed they are impersonating the dance of the sea. how can a choreographer reproduce/recreate the dance of the sea with humans (waves)?!? Amazing!
They are sublimely beautiful but that is not what we see in this rehearsal. Here we see the marvel of their technical achievement. None of the modern era ballet dancers come close. The Russians are still the best in the history of dance, but they have fallen from this tremendous height. The spectacular ability to hurl the body through space and endlessly pirouette is no longer a product of the Russian school. And frankly, if the Russians don’t have it, nobody has it. May they return to their formal level of greatness.
There has been no better Kitri. The force of the taquete! The seemingly reckless speeds of the traveling pirouettes!! The Plitsetskaya head-kick sissone!!! Then there is the characterization and musicality
This video its from a documentary that I once saw. I´ve been trying to find it and I can´t. Someone has the name (or link) of the documentary that contains this and other coreography
