Looking good, I enjoy playing this game and now seeing other play this, and watching other strategy's . Quick question what's the supply depo rule ? It looks like its would help both side (mostly Germany) in getting units across the board quicker and keep the blitz going. And where did you get your task force plates from? After playing this game a few times I was wondering if any one else thought of upgrading the rules to add more units or to change some rules Noncombat Trucks can move into now friendly territory (land zone taken over this round, But the supply depot might fix this, had a hard time with supplies while units blitz, since you couldn't move up trucks to supply them. Transport planes - can drop air drop one supply ( they could still carry two supplies but would need to land) Carpet bombing for Medium and Heavy bomber - or making medium and heavy bombers able to attack for one round with the enemy unable to roll unless they have AA guns Add on of units Light, Medium and Heavy tank destroyers Heavy Artillery - Can make an attack into adjacent territory with out being attacked back
Great minds. If you saw our first game, we are playtesting rules to address a lot of the same issues. We allow non combat to anyzone currently controlled, including just taken. We added attrition attacks to artillery, we allow blitz attacks, we apply encirclement rules - which the enemy can try to breakout at combat penalty or, if unsupplied, surrenders entirely. We added partisans, bridge rules for river crossing. Definately checkout the first game recap videos. Welcome feedback from others who also play & love this game.
@@CaptainG9318 I just started watching the first game play, going good so far. And have seen some of the questions to new enchantments. encirclements are a good add, but do the encircled troops disband after a turn or two ?
@matthewbrowning994 if Encircled in supply (ie have a supply depot in the encirclement) suffer -2 penalty in combat, also consume supplies at double rate (2 per turn normal, 4 in snow). If Encircled w/o supplies- can not make any attacks. If not ‘rescued’ by friendly forces on the owning player’s next turn, the units surrender en masse and are removed. Encircled cities can ‘draw supplies’ via ports, as long as the port is open and there is another friendly city on that body of water that has a line of supply. You will see examples of both in game 1.
Are the 'Irish Troubles' rules available somewhere? You used them in the Patriot Games youtube you played with some others. I can't find them listed in the current rules on HBG's website.
The Troubles and the African National Congress (ANC) were both new Random Events we were testing for the lead game developer. I dont believe they have been finalized yet as we made some more adjustments based on that game.
Got it, I'm looking forward to their inclusion! Thanks for the quick reply! Also, is there a timeline for when the national reference sheets will be out as well? I'm looking for info on the board setup. I know HBG has the overall unit count listed, but I'd like more detail on setup at a territorial level so I can prepare to have models on a national basis (e.g Leo's for Germany, Chally's for UK, etc.) Thanks again and keep up the good work!
Due to unforseen circumstances, the winner of the Giveaway chose not to accept their prize. So that means the Runner-Up becomes our new Winner. Congratulations to Elite Golden!
I ran the results right before midnight as the contest ended with the 14th. But, if any consolation, when I checked for any final entries, there were still open spots on each team in the #10 slot. So you would have been NATO 10, and NATO’s roll was a 5. Appreciate you watching, hope you enjoy Global War 1985!
Thanks, hope whoever wins enjoys using them on their table. There is a lot of new options open to players in GW85- cruise missile, chemical weapons, state sponsored terrorism, insurgencies, battlefield nukes. Plenty in this game to enjoy.
I got it initially because I had already built up all the pieces I needed to play GW36/39 and was looking for other games - different games, not other versions of the same thing- that I could play using those pieces. I ended up getting Barbarossa, Operation Iceburg (Okinawa) and Invasion Italy, one at a time. All it took was getting the map & downloading the rules. Each has specialty units, unique rules and their own flavors. All three were fun and I’m glad I got them- they were exactly what I was looking for.
@@CaptainG9318 I have a bunch of different Axis and Allies games, so I could probably cobble together enough for other games. Worth a look! Thanks again!
There are a lot of new capabilities and attack options available to players in Global War 1985: from Surgical Strike air missions to Theater Nuclear Missile attacks; Air Cavalry Assaults to Counter Value ICBM attacks. I love ‘em all.
The escalation toward war thru DEFCON is a great and important mechanic indeed. How aggressive does the Warsaw Pact want to be early in the game. Hostile actions can trigger reaction by China and the West to increase their defense readiness posture, including their Defense Condition. Their DEFCON level allows for expanded deployments of units and more aggressive response options.
True indeed. It is a great looking map, a unique Cold War map. There is little better than F-14s sitting on a supercarrier in the Indian Ocean, or Warsaw Pact tanks massed along the border in Central Europe.
Excited for another great installment in the Global War series and to watch some the strategies develop in all the RU-vid Wars that are sure to follow!
You and me both. The random events will make each game different and the many scenarios will give ample opportunity for the community to try new and exciting strategies.
@@CaptainG9318 That is a great point. I was fortunate enough to pick up the GW 1914 game a few months back and the random events are my favorite new addition to the game as well as my play groups’s favorite new mechanic. Always have to keep on your toes and plan for the unexpected!
I've followed Admiral Seabass serie on gw 85 and it's truly a new level of hbg's games. Exited to see more youtube wars and how the smaller conflicts impact the game. Congrats on 200!
100%. The different smaller conflicts can pop up anywhere with the random events, grow out of control, and escalate into all out war. Quite a lot of fun.
Awesome! Dont forget China. One of my favorite parts of the game is how it works much like G40 in that players have many options in what scenario they want to play and where in the world they want to fight.
@@CaptainG9318 I am looking forward to the China and Global aspects. The Iran/Iraq war and other parts I’ve seen in the RU-vid wars interest me a lot. All of it combined. From all I’ve seen I think it’s going to be great!
There have already been a few public ones by the playtest group. Scenario 1: Operations First Blood & Killing Fields. Scenario 2: Operations Drago & Patriot Games. Scenario 3: Operation Mars (solo game).
Thanks for watching and the support. The Battleships & Battle Cruisers expansion is a lot of fun. I am perhaps biased, but the naval expansions are my favorite.
