Wish there are videos about Ford’s tonneau cover. I ordered it when I ordered my Bronco thinking I needed it. I didn’t realize how hard it was to install/didn’t know there were going to be back straps over the swing gate… kinda regretting it. It just sits in the garage because I can’t get it on.

how is the switch wired?
@aidendeirmenjian9972
@aidendeirmenjian9972 2 месяца назад
Quick question for u? I added a pressure switch and it seems to work! however the compressor comes back on every 30 seconds or so for maybe 1 second. Is this normal? Or am I losing pressure somewhere? I thought once it reached the desired psi and was not in use it would stay off until I turned it on
@theaxeman8492
@theaxeman8492 2 месяца назад
Definitely from a pressure loss. Mine seems to do the same. It did when not hard-wired to the vehicle as well (with the pressure switch). Doesn’t bother me much as I usually have it off at the compressor unless I’m using it. Can’t help you much more than that unfortunately. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Excellent ... as a new Bronco owner, I figured there had to be a simpler solution out there. Looks like one key to success is precise placement/parking of the Bronco -- in this instance, a tight fit in the garage actually works to your advantage.

Attempts show movement in rear section and only pushes down. It would be important to check if it lifts and I assure you it will. The questions are how much and how much can the top withstand before it breaks.

How water resistant is the tonneau cover?
@theaxeman8492
@theaxeman8492 5 месяцев назад
It's quite decent. Water tends to pool up in the center - and I've had a good 3" deep pool - and never really had water in the trunk area. I've switched it out for a whole metal trunk enclosure for safety though.

Awesome idea. I did something similar with my Wrangler years ago that worked reasonably well. The Bronco top is lighter and more well balanced so I expect it works even better. I will try it out. Thanks!

Seems like a bad idea. 2 points of connection when it's supposed to be 5? Seems like it would be over stressing the front clamps. No thanks.
@theaxeman8492
@theaxeman8492 Год назад
Well- luckily it’s my Bronco and not yours - and you know what they say about opinions…. The back 3 connections are much more about creating a watertight seal than holding the roof on - but again - don’t do it. Nobody cares. You do you big guy. I’ve owned my Bronco for over a year and a half and have run this setup numerous times without even an inkling of an issue. ✌🏻

I don’t know if I’d go so far as to call them rain proof - but I’ve have my truck get hit with rain without the top on a few times and I’ve never had any issues with them. I’m sure they’re « resistant »

I have the same setup and currently running into an issue with the install. The power cable on the winch is up against the brake line. At 7:29 in you video, it appears to be the same issue with the line showing flexed out. Any issues with the line rubbing? I’m worried about the line eventually get a hole rubbed through it.

That fact you can function in that garage is reason enough to give a 👍🏻 LOL I’m currently trying to MacGyver something for the wife’s Bronco. Still too cold here to pull it apart and have a good look. I like your under mounting so the rear glass can stay closed
@timsizemore3098
@timsizemore3098 Год назад
So, just to be clear with the remote- there is a toggle on the Badlands for wire/wireless option. If you leave the cable plugged into the unit all the time do you need to flip that toggle in order to go wireless? If not, which do I leave it on in order to not have to try reach down into the engine bay and flip it? Also, instead of even messing with the clutch lever what about just using the pay out direction and not putting it in free spin? Then there’s not something else that can break. Just saying. Not a dig on ya.

Fantastic video! this literally answered every question i had about this setup except 1... Apex fitment, , Check... Possible to extend the clutch lever, check... The only thing i wonder is if the Yankum Fairlead will fit the Rough country indent. i'd like to use that if possible and i think it'll protect the rope well and get rid of a hook that could possibly be marred up on approach angles given how low this is. Any insight? is it just the badlands fairlead that is oversized? or is the rough country the only one that will work.
@theaxeman8492
@theaxeman8492 Год назад
Thanks for the compliment! I unfortunately don’t have any insight on that Yankum fairlead- but I’d like to know also. It’s a cool setup. I left the Badlands fairlead on it and I’ve used the winch a few times without incident. Sorry I can’t be if more help!

- 1 x double male 1/4” NPT adapter - 1 x double female 1/4” NPT adapter - 1 x 1/4” NPT T-fitting - male to double female - 1 x 1/8” to 1/4” NPT adapter could you point us in a direction to find these fittings?
@gordong3620
@gordong3620 Год назад
How long is the spacer adapter (1 x double female 1/4” NPT adapter) I like the pressure switch mounted here seems much better protected. Plus no stress on any of this once it together compared to being mounted in the back your always plugging and unplugging the hose. Nicely done.
@petyweestraw
@petyweestraw Год назад
They could but it would drive the price up. It's priced well as is. Thing is I honestly don't see a need for this mod. Hook line up to tire, hit switch, stop when at desired pressure.
@gordong3620
@gordong3620 Год назад
The reason to do this you don't have to run back and forth turning the compressor off and on at eash tire... also never a good idea to use the pressure safety valve as a switch.
