I found your channel a week ago. It's been so helpful and simple that i am playing better than the lessons i started taking. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Nice to meet you. Alice. I experienced my first homestay in New Zealand 30 years ago. At that time, I was taught Pokare Kareana, and it's a nostalgic song. I started learning the ukulele last month and would love to play this song. Thank you for sharing!
Kia ora Putiputi, thankyou for pointing this out. I have been working on an updated tutorial video, to correct the words, and I will take this one down as soon as I do that. I also realise the melody/ chords are a bit different in the correct version. I really appreciate you taking the time to mention this. Ngaa mihi - Alice
This is so very very special. I really appreciate you showing us how this can be done. I listen to chants all the time. I never thought I could chant one myself 🌟💕🥰
Could you please put in your videos the draw of the strums? I'm a Brazilian begginer student of ukukele and it's still difficult to understand the strums when you show it fast. Thanks a lot. 😉
Hi Erika, thankyou for your suggestion. I'm gradually going back and adding the strums and chords to my older videos, but it's taking me a lot of time! In the meantime, the strum I suggest in this video is the "Basic Folky Strum" . Here's the video showing how to play this strum: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uQ_qCCrFWXo.html Hope this is helpful. - Alice
Awesome !! How did I not know your page yet? I love this song and i usuaaly sing, but now i can play on ukulele thanks to you! keep going!! I love your videos already :)
This has been the Information I’ve been looking for!! I have the chords, the songs, but I’m struggling so hard with finding the rhythm. This helped me out tremendously! Thank you!
Thanks for asking! There are lots of apps - here are two that I think are quite easy to use. (I don't get any reward for suggesting these.) Ukulele Tuner Free by Lior Hai; and the Kala Ukulele tuner app. They're both quite different, so see which one you like best. Hope this is helpful.
Alice Bulmer Thank you I will have a look at them. I’m a primary teacher and I have some ukulele that I can use with my class☺️So I’m learning so I can teach them. Maybe the apps will be a good way for the children to be able to tune their own ukulele too otherwise it will take me a while 😅
Hi, thankyou for asking. In that third strum I show (very briefly) how to pay swing. For more about swing check out the second video in the Strum series, How to play swing ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uYsvog0Niis.html When you play swing you go down and up, and the Down is a bit longer than the Up. There are no gaps in the strum (I think that's what you mean by "skip"). You keep counting "1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and". Play Down on 1 and Up on "and". Hopefully that will answer your question. Alice
