catch, compression, exit, recovery - the 4 main elements of a paddle stroke - recovery being when the paddle is being returned after exit to the start position, ready for the catch again.
when u said full blade, ur blade needs to be submerge even down lower, for what u did is still considered as shallow water. And ur rowing arm is too near to the blade. gotta move higher up in order to have a deeper catch
Both leg forwards...check! concrete theory...check! No negative angle...check! we use a side exit and entry though...not wrong just different! Auzzies did well at the worlds! GO PUFF! (Miami) thanks for the vid...loved it.
Not looking bad at all! :) right stroke on boat B needs to work on sitting up; you can tire yourself very quickly like that and although you may think your getting a better reach by leaning all the way down, the stroke isn't as effective. That's where boat A are spot on :) Both boats just be careful that when you tire you still remember your form and technique, and don't end up scrambling at the water. Very well done :)
Qu Yuan, I'd agree with you entirely regarding where to hold the paddle. Much room for improvement. We do have a technical coach, who says exactly the same thing as you do, but what we really need is to listen to him more. Not our best performance, and we were 4 seconds better in the repercharge, so we know we can do better. And thanks for the critique, we appreciate that.
Study this vdo if U wanna improve. Have your coach and a more technical coach study it too. U can see that your blades aren't even fully immersed in the water (look at the other 2 'zoomer' boats on each side of yours.) If you only use 95% of the power face of the blade, you're already behind 5%! Choke up (bring lower grip hand a good inch / 3 cm upwards towards the T grip); at the same time dig the blade deeper til it's FULLY immersed 102%. This helps ONLY if blade is properly set to catch.
Don't take this badly, but it wasn't a 'wave we couldn't punch through'. It's really obvious from thw VDO that your team's coach has not developed in you a very powerful stroke (catch). Entire right side of the boat visible to the viewers is paddling basically the same way (with some minor variations); all their strokes lack impulse power which is needed for these water conditions. Little use of core muscles compared to the teams who zoomed by you. Study this video. Get a technical coach.
i think their technique is similar but i think A was faster was because they were in sync seen more fit and better as a team also team A has better strokes
