Join me in my quest to learn all about the wonderful world of Bushcraft!
As a complete newbie, I am going to use this channel as a journal to record my efforts to master a range of natural living skills such as:
Crafting primitive tools Building Primitive Shelters Making Stone age traps Collecting wild edibles and herblore Starting fires under adverse conditions Neolithic gardening Camping and woodcrafting gear reviews And much more!
You need a lot of training and practice to master thé accurate use of a sling. In survival situation, it Would bé useless, because power without accuracy is just dust and noise. A Trap will give you a better return, and if you are starving, you will quickly understand it.
I just made one because i left my original one at my friends house but i forgot how and other vids didnt help me till i found this video and i saw this type of sling and I can say it works. The new one is kinda better than the original
Can this be made with pop cans some how? I would also like to know if you can put in carbon felt or insulation in order to prevent a spill spreading fire ? Will it still work fine?
balearic sling, search for that, i saw here in Mallorca 80 years man hitting targets at 30 meter ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EY7EOspW594.html
I live somewhere that continues to use atlatls for a long time after other places had stopped. Looking at the plants that grow here i wonder if the change was that in harder conditions the thicker trees, even sapplings, didnt grow as well as smaller scrub like ones. So a weapon that took more skill to make but could use smaller trees and/or branches and the use of fire to straighten them was favored. Then when places warmed and growing conditions most places allowed for better tree growth it was dropped for the old theowing spears again exept in scrub lands without easy access to the right materials.
You don't know what you're talking about. Throwing sticks are carefully sculpted into an airfoil such that as the stick flies through the air, the lift generated by the airfoil forces it to fly a straight path. Any unbalancing of the stick makes it curve off to the side. That's why boomerangs come back to you. Boomerang is just the Australian word for any blunt wooden weapon.
When properly mastered made and used the right way u can send rocks flying at 750mph u start by swinging around at your side and then swing it up above your head speeding it up then back down to your side speeding it up again then do a 360 as hard as u can swing your arm out as hard as u can then let it rip
Huh? I was able to hit targets within 15 minutes of the first time I ever used one. I just made my first sling yesterday and have been blasting trees all over the property. I think you need to learn the correct technique!
Couple of suggestions. The release portion of the staff shouldn't be a straight cut notch. Rather it should be a shallow polished hook. More consistent release than a straight cut notch. Also, the sling straps need to be closer together - about an inch or a bit more. Need to be a similar distance to a hand sling. When everything is correct, a staff sling is as accurate, or more so, as a hand sling.
You could the problem with that is that although more durable your edge will be very small and one can argue u can get a flake and have a larger edge than this so why even bother? This is a useless survival knife especially if Flint knapping stone is available in ur area if not than u can utilize this method and that's where it's useful
