OK……I don’t think those were black aphids 😅. I think the culprit was Flea Beetles.Apparently they only like very young plants. But they live in the soil, so they will probably come back next year. Will you need to add some vapor barrier to the shelf to keep in moisture since you are in a bigger space that might absorb more moisture than your last room.
Sweet workshop Craig! Would love to hear your thoughts on this: I have a lot of containers I use to garden. It's difficult to swap out all the soil each season. Last year some of my tomats had some kind of blight. I want to re-use the soil but I'm concerned the seedlings will get infected. I read about using hydrogen peroxide for sterilizing the soil.
Hey Dan...I have heard of sterilizing with peroxide (or boiling water for that matter), but I'm not so sure of doing that in soil that you know for sure had sick plants in it. You might be better off just getting rid of that soil and just starting from new. May I humbly suggest the Lettuce Mix listed above....LOL 😆
I have mine on from 5am-5pm not following the low or high peak times. But yes you could run them only the low and medium hydro times and it should be fine. As long as they get their 12 hours of light.
