@@samsherwoodrides ikr. im pretty new to mtb so i joined my local NICA team to help up my skills but i actually dont go to blackrock that often. last time i went, my father wiped out super bad and would have died if he didnt buy a mips full face a couple days prior.
@@samsherwoodrides i usually go to lewisberg saddle for the awesome trail that is called " vineyard" perfect trail. lots of roots, very flowy and over all a great trail.
If I broke my neck I'd probably take up a new sport. Bikes are fun but there's lots of things to do besides just bikes. or at least tone down on the type of riding that I would do. I try to maximize the risk/reward factor.
Sounds like you got off easy. Next time if there is may not be so lucky. That being said, love the way you want. Die the way you want. I broke my back mountain biking and had four surgeries to repair it. I took four to five years off. I ride again but I keep it under control now because that time was very difficult to make it through.
I will never do a flip, and I'm perfectly okay with that! I've had the same mental discussion with myself quite a few times, trying to figure out whether or not mountain biking is truly worth the risk of lifelong injuries. For me it's concussions, I've had quite a few of them. I always arrive to the same conclusion that I want be riding my bike rather than playing it safe, but I still always wonder. Being on the bike is something I could give a lot up for, but how much? Only time will tell.
What about getting a good quality back protector? I could not see if you wore one when you crashed but might be a good idea? And possibly even a neck brace, even though it might not look cool it could save yout neck
I'm so glad for you! My friend broke his back and neck riding with me last year. It was scary. Luckily there were no displaced bones. just clean fracture. He's fully healed now but he hasn't gone riding yet. I'm happy you're ok.
