Hi everyone!
I'm back here for the very last time. My channel offers The Golden Era of tennis for all of you. It mainly focuses on three legendary players, but it also features other players from the 80s, and 90s, beginning in the 2000s until the last Lindsay Davenport professional match and the last Martina Hingis doubles match. Anyone is welcome here to watch the best points of particular matches. The channel is strictly created for educational purposes and to bring the tennis community together, to forget about the problems life brings us all.

Under section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for FAIR USE for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statutes that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational, or personal use tips the balance in favor of FAIR USE.

Wow, sliced backhand was thing of a beauty from both these ladies. And those serves, they were both serving aces with ease, but unlike today's players who hit aces followed by double faults or weak second serves, these two were very consistent. You really don't want to get into a forehand contest with Steffi Graf, but Mary's volleys were a very effective weapon even by modern day's standard. Thank you for uploading this wonderful match.

I'm sorry but if Steffi is on her game big serves forehand on fire very few errors it is her match to win or lose. As good as Sanchez is in order for her to beat Steffi she needs help from Graf. If Graf get's tight and impatient errors will creep in only then does she stand a chance in my humble opinion. If Steffi is on and can be patient and construct points with her slice and move her opponent around. As long as her forehand is on and she is not spraying the ball. There is not much they can do. 😊😊😊

It's striking how many players of the 80s / 90s have have had such terrible lives either during or after their tennis careers. Apart from Arantxa's well publicised issues, Steffi had a terrible life with her dad and it's been reported that her brother now has severe mental health problems and she's had to become his legal guardian. Jennifer Capriati is reported to be suffering from severe depression, Jana Novotna died young, Monica Seles has obviously written a lot about her life and both Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert have had "eventful" love lives. On the men's side, Boris Becker ended up in jail, Pat Cash came close to suicide, John McEnroe had his well publicised problems and Andre Agassi talked about his abusive father and his time with drugs. The tennis world just chews people up and spits them out. Such an unhealthy place.

@@th8257 Can we really group Steffi and Jana with the rest of them? Martina and Chris are horrible persons. Chris broke up a marriage. Martina refused to pay alimony because Florida did not recognize same-sex marriage. Capriati stalked a porn star who was a former boyfriend. Sanchez-Vicario's family stole all her money and in rebellion she married a shady man and committed financial fraud. Monica was Trump's gal pal and married a man who could be her grandfather. Serena is now trying to play down the fact that her politics has always been suspect: She did not vote for Obama and her name came up during the Trump trial in NY. Meanwhile, what did Jana do? Die of cancer. It's sad, but that happens to the rest of us too. What did Steffi do? By all accounts, namely those of Cahill, Gilbert, Austin, Steffi has the best life now. Yes, there were bumps in her relationship with her Dad. But according to Andre's book, they had a good relationship at the end. Also, Steffi did not cause her brother's mental issues. With Steffi, the amazing thing is that someone who experienced that much glory could find so much of the ordinary happiness that we all seek.

This match is a great example of why Martina as great as she was in her era would have alot of problems today. Mary Pierce could step up and rip the ball big time which forced Navratilova to have to engage in too many baseline rallies. As great of an athlete as Martina was her backhand would get taken apart by players like Pierce and big hitters she would have to deal with now. Martina had the perfect game for her time and she was great but her ground game would have had to improve in an exponential way to even stay on the court with the big hitters of today. This video puts it all out there. Great performance by Pierce, I was happy for her at that time.

@gregoryphillips3969 4 дня назад
Whether Martina is 22 or 32 here she's going to have big problems. No woman in her era hit the ball as hard as Mary Pierce, Serena Williams, Lindsey Davenport or others that were to follow. Martina's backhand wasn't going to stand up to the incredible pressure it was going to face once rushing the net became a more difficult task. As far as Martina's age, she made the Wimbledon final in 1994. She also won the US OPEN mixed at 49 or 50 l believe. Martina could still play at this time but the hard hitters were coming. She's fortunate that she missed these women with huge groundstrokes or the record books would look alot different.
@donallynch1689
@donallynch1689 3 дня назад
But Navratilova learned the game in an era when that kind of blasting was impossible - if she came along now she'd be coming over her backhand way more and she's holding her own here even with the tools she had.
@gregoryphillips3969
@gregoryphillips3969 3 дня назад
@donallynch1689 Don't know even as things stood Tracy Austin who didn't hit as hard as the other women l mentioned would have been getting more victories against Martina if she wouldn't have been forced into early retirement. Martina isn't as big and imposing as she appears to be. Big hitters would have been a problem no matter what. Seles, the Williams sisters, Lindsey Davenport, Mary Pierce, and others would be quite formidable. Martina's timing of when she arrived on the tennis scene was perfect.
@donallynch1689
@donallynch1689 3 дня назад
@@gregoryphillips3969 But Martina had great h2hs against big hitters of every era. After Austin was gone she had an equal h2h with graf and a close losing record against seles.
