Hi Wesley, does your clay here had grog??? is it necessary for big vessels like this one?
@wesleywright1311
@wesleywright1311 4 месяца назад
Having grog definitely helps, both in construction and firing.

Hi, great information and stunning work. Why on bisque and not on the second fire? Isn't it more fragile at the bisque phase? Thanks so much for sharing..
@wesleywright1311
@wesleywright1311 5 месяцев назад
Hi Lisy (-: The bisque is porous which helps to layer the color, and it's sturdy enough for a sculpture.

Try using cosmetic sponges. Get a bag of different shapes at the 99 cents store. They have points and tips and are great for defining areas.

So I don't waste glaze, (these paints are so expensive), I wet a bit the sponge and apply a tiny bit of glaze directly on the sponge with the tip if my finger or a brush and then wrinkle the sponge on itself so the glaze gets into the sponge and then apply it to the piece. Cleaning it on paper us wasting paint. Your pieces are so creative! Yes!

Probably just buy some clay, sculpt, fire it in a kiln, and there you go.

These are really fun to make i assume 😆 but how long do these pieces take to dry tho!? Say one like the happy face you're making with stoneware clay how much time would it take to dry? I've been told that i should never bulk and always make everything hollow.. it really puzzled me on how i should plan my sculptures structure. Also thank you for all the pointers 🙌

Hi Nell! Glad you liked it. I use: I use a selfy stick that also works as a tripod. This one is really good: benro bk10 mini tripod and selfie stick for smartphones. I use a strap to attach the handle to my work table so I can reach around it without knocking it over. I also use an Apogee MiC

Hi Nell, I use: Benro BK10 Mini Tripod and Selfie Stick for Smartphones, strapped to the edge of my table wit Apogee Mic plugged to my phone which is filming. The Selfie stick is strapped to the edge of the table and I reach around it with the phone next to my chest or face. Kind of awkward but it works (-;
