Haha thanks mike - a small fan would have made a world of difference - ive got some plans to tweak the setup to make it easier - will upload a more detailed vid then
Enjoyed seeing this as my rowcruiser is currently under wraps for the winter in Canada. I have an alternate rig, using balanced lug sails, so I have halyards and lazyjacks and can douse the sails at anchor. I also have a boom tent to cover the cockpit so I can keep under cover and cook if it is raining. Of course these sails and spars are heavier, and catch some windage, so it is not the best setup for maximum rowing efficiency but I prefer being able to douse and also reef the sails from the cockpit. I also made a simple hinged wood prop to keep the front end of the hatch open while sleeping, greatly reduces humidity and condensation inside the cabin but still keeps the rain out as long as it isn't blowing hard.
Hi Eric, Thanks for your comment - id live to see the details of your set up as described. Is there any chance you could email me some pics ? Or do you have a RU-vid channel that you could upload a short vid ?? Thanks again mate
@@damoking9471 I'm not comfortable with publishing my email address on RU-vid, so I'm not sure how to email you photos unless you put your email address here? Cheers!
@@MrEricmgt my email is on the angus rowcruiser website - its on the forum posts. Ive been contacted by interesting guys from all round the world building their rowcruisers which was a great experience.
It will be the water temp in the cabin and condensation will be your big enemy..a sleeping bag withe water proof shell might be a good idea. My much larger cabin on a 24' gets to 50°f at night in the summer even if its a comfy 66° outside and i use a space heater st the marina...winters bedding onboard year round
Hello. Tell me, do you receive plans for a boat and sails by e-mail or to the address of your residence? Can I buy and download the plans, or do they send printed ones ?
Both - my purchase included a PDF and a hard copy of the plans - I also purchased a DXF file for CNC cutting. The sails I purchased directly from Intensity Sails -
I made them - if you check out the slide show vid on my channel it shows vaguely how I shaped the oar blades - the oars I made from laminated white beech
I have used the Trangia quit a lot for hiking, but wouldnt use it on the water. One of the fellows in the UK Dinghy Cruising association tipped his and suffered quite nasty burns and set his boat ablaze a couple of years ago.
Hey Jens, that’s definitely a concern. That’s why my food prep tray has a30mm lip around the perimeter to bund any spills. Besides I think I would only use it in calm conditions to limit spill potential.
This video is particularly good. People are complaining that they can't get permits to hike the Thorsborne trail in the peak April to September season. You folks had some tremendous weather in March. I bet the swimming temperature was great.
Yeah mate only a few showers - we were expecting more - lots of water and great temp for sure. We initially had trouble finding a 6 night block because of the bookings and yet only saw about 9 other hikers the whole time - it appears people book and then don’t show because at the end of the day the fees are bugger all which is disappointing if you’re trying to get in the system. March was great - the end of the wet, hot but still heaps of water
@@damoking9471 I wish I could get to Hinchinbrook Island right now. I love the swimming in the warmer weather. I live interstate now so it is not so easy to get to the island these days. When I lived in Townsville I used to go there at least once a month (in the 1990's).
@@david-rossanamaicle-dixon3130 I was trying to tell people about the beauty and uniqueness of Hinchinbrook Island in the 1990's. Now, because of social media, the interest in Hinchinbrook island has exploded in the last decade. Hopefully, we will we able to defend the island from greedy accommodation developers in the future.
Hi, I’m very keen on this boat and was wondering what state and location as before I build I would just like to inspect. I’ve built Colins rigger system and installed in a new 16’ canoe, .
Don’t think so because there’s a fair bit going on and this would prob help hold sea sickness off - if it’s flat you’re rowing - but everyone’s different
I had trampolines made for my rowcruiser, I use cargo netting on top of the trampolines to secure all my dry bags that live in the cabin during the daytime. I've done up to 10 nights on board, I always sleep in the cabin at anchor. Greetings from Canada!! The rowcruiser is a fantastic machine!
Nice work. Did you have the plywood CNC cut locally, or is somebody cutting these as a kit in Oz? I presume the plans give full measurements to allow marking out and cutting by hand?
Campbell Shaw - ply cut by CNC - I purchased both CNC and full plans in case I needed extra parts - having a good CNC operator is crucial because the plans come from Canada and I found it hard to get support during this stage. I was lucky to have a local guy where I live who turned out to be an absolute guru with his machine. The kits are only available in Canada and the US unfortunately. Yes you can cut by hand but there would be much more time involved, space required and potential for error.
powderpark, thanks for that, I have some other vids which show it under both sail and rowing - I’m currently planning an over nighter where I’ll cook, sleep etc on board.
