Kraemer’s Fishing is a channel dedicated to fishing, limb lining, shrimping, rod rigging, Jon boat tours, boat upgrades, sinker and lure making. We are based out of the backwaters of Charleston SC, fishing the Wando and the Cooper River for redfish, trout and flounder. Also fishing the Santee lakes for catfish and striped bass.
Question I have the same boat and after seeing your video I tracked down that awesome bench seat. Have not received it yet. My question is how did you mount it? Did you have to remove the cover to the fuel tank?
On the bottom of the seat there is 1/2” thick plastic base, I took the gas tank hatch off and used stainless screws to screw it down to the hatch. After that I screwed the hatch back in the boat. I think I put 8 screws in total. Definitely is a sold setup!
Whew that sucks! That’s an expensive cushion too! I got the bench seat from Tempress. It’s a company out in Texas, very well made seat. I am very happy with it
Is it for a 48” bench seat and how many rod holders would you like on it? Do you live around Charleston SC? If not I’ll let you know shipping cost as well.
Gotta pick your days for sure. I always have my two sons with me (7 and 4 year old) so if it’s gonna be real rough out I choose not to go. I just stay inland. But I have been out there number of times and been fine.
The boat tows very good. I would recommend the dual axle trailer. I’ve had the boat almost two years now and no issues with wheel bearings or anything like that. Only one downfall, when you are backing up with the boat the brake actuator engages and starts locking up brakes. I kept having to put pin in to disable brakes. I eventually kept the pin in and left them disabled all the time. Boat is not that heavy for breaks. Launching is no problem, when unhooking winch hang on to handle the boat slides a little and the handle will grab you. Retrieving is good, as long as you get the boat inside the two guides the boat will center up every time.
I need to get a welding bench/fab station set up like you have. To hell with buying the chinese garbage, especially when a guy can build it himself! Good work bro
Yes make some fishing videos, we understand family and work that’s first. But I think you have the right temperament for making fishing videos as in your last video’s that I seen. What is your fish of choice, or are you un all species kinda guy? I’m sorry I kinda got carried way here, when time allows go for it you will do great. Thank you for letting me ramble on and I will see you next time
We do all species of fish. We do salt water, fresh water, shrimping, gigging, limb lining. Prefer shallow water red fishing is our go to. I do need to start marketing the stuff for the boat, I have a lot of people ask about it. I need to make some more videos of some fishing and more boat upgrades I got done. I appreciate the comments. Sorry it took a couple weeks to reply back.
I haven’t looked for a bow rail light setup for the boat. I been thinking of making one for mine. It would be very convenient to have one, especially in the versa-track so it would be removable.
I used these with the Team Catfish weight slides to make a ru-vid.comUgkxdmsDj7fQXe77DC0l7P7ua8B3PiESUubM Carolina rig and they were perfect for the ponds I fish. I have also used them to make 3 way rigs and these work perfectly. Haven't had any issues with them snagging in rocks or in weeds yet.
I really like your setup. I'm picking my new 2072 up tomorrow from Berkeley outdoors. I'll definitely be borrowing some ideas, especially with the seat/rod rack!
@@kraemersfishing4336 yessir, Summerville. My old boat is an old 12ft Sears that I built to be like a little bass boat. I'm super pumped to have all the new deck space.
@@jeSuperfly it’s definitely going to be a big upgrade for sure! It will fish three comfortable. We do shrimping, gigging, fishing, scalloping and family swimming days out of it. You will love it. I’m in Summerville also
@@kraemersfishing4336as per my earlier comment about your upgrades that you did there is a market for them, theres always going to be bass trackers out there. You have something of Value that people need. You have your foot in the door way and that’s a very good start and you have what people need. If I can just bolt it on instead of making it how easy is it for me👍. Just remember you have something of Value here there will always be people for that.
I fish salt water all the time. I fish what we call the back country in the marsh for reds, trout and flounder. I trim motor up and use trolling motor I can get less than a foot of water. I also do shrimping and crabbing with it too. If I get stuck in rough water I trim up to get bow high and do 15-20mph. It will be a little bit of a rough ride but never felt like I was in trouble.
I have a Mercury 150 four stroke. The boat will do around 50-52 depending on if I’m loaded heavy or not. I normally run about 4000-4500rpm would be about 35mph or so.
Is there enough room for you to put the spare tire mount on top of the center rail and mount your tire laying down in the space between the trailer rail and the bottom of the boat? If so the it would be tucked out of the way
There is enough room, I honestly didn’t even think of putting it there. I already made the mount for the side, I might make one more for when I go on long trips I can carry two spares.
@@kraemersfishing4336 sounds like a good idea. Yeah that space was the first thing I noticed, just couldn’t tell for sure from the video how much room there actually was.
I made it out of 1/2” schedule 40 pipe. I’m not sure if anybody makes it or not I just had the idea in my head. I still gotta add more rod holders, four is not enough.
The seat is vinyl. Never had a cordura fabric seat. I spay 303 fabric protectant on the vinyl every month or so to keep it conditioned and UV protection. Never had a problem with vinyl.
Been in some rough water 3-4 foots. Trimmed motor to get bow up and did about 15mph. It was a rough ride but I never felt like the boat couldn’t handle it.
Hey Jeffrey, no it doesn’t come with anything to mount it. Seat is from a company called Tempress. The bottom of the seat is hard plastic. I took the gas tank hatch off, screwed the seat to the hatch then installed the hatch back into the boat. I used stainless screws with 5200 marine glue on the screws to help prevent screws from getting loose.
I heard the same things, but I believe it is the older models. I’ve had mine for a little over a year and I have had no issues at all. I run the boat a lot, been in some pretty rough conditions and nothing stands out to me that is bad. My brother has the same boat grizzly 2072 for 7 years now. His has no issues either and everything is still performing great other than normal wear and tear. Taking his boat out so much I ended up buying same one cause I liked the durability. I wouldn’t hesitate at all. Your gonna love the boat
The best thing about this review is including your sons by far! My son and I also do everything together. Dude is literally my best friend 😂. We have a ProDrive cc so we get to do a lot of different stuff in that boat all of which is exciting!
Wouldn’t change it for the world! Those two boys are always out on the boat with me doing stuff. A ProDrive would be cool, I see them all the time but never been in one.
@@kraemersfishing4336 Thanks, man. 👍 Good looking boat! I have a Lund Predator. I have a video of it, but I haven't posted anything since I've done all my upgrades. I'll probably post something new once it gets back from getting serviced.
Nice I’ll have to check it out. You getting yearly service done? I was gonna have my dealer I bought the boat from do mine (warranty purpose), they wanted a little over $500. So I ended up doing it myself just kept the receipts.
@@kraemersfishing4336 I'm having my 20hour service done. I brought it to an authorized Merc dealer so it's in the Mercury records nationwide for warranty.
The seat is from company called Tempress. I believe they are out in Texas. It’s a really nice and well made seat. For the backrest/rod rack I made that.
Could you use this boat in salt water as a bay boat or small water boat? Would you say that this boat is a glorified Jon boat, from what you say you use it in fresh and salt water.
I use this boat in salt water about 70% of the time I take it out. I normally run back in the marsh and sight fish for reds, trout and flounder. I also go in the harbor and fish for bull reds and shrimp out of it. It is a flat bottom boat with only a 7 degree dead rise so on rougher days in the inlet wouldn’t be as comfortable ride as a deep v. I trim the motor up a little to get bow up. I have always been fine and I been in some rough water.
Tracker did not offer a light bar. The dealer I went through did ask if I wanted any add ons to the boat and the dealer would install. They also said they can add into loan. Not sure if every dealer does that or not. .100” 5052 aluminum
If it isn't too much trouble, can you get me an overall measurement from the back of the motor to the end of the trailer? Need to know if it'll fit my garage. Also, did they off a galvanized trailer?
Not at all. Total length from tongue to motor is 27’ the motor was slightly tilted up and straight. I would say motor tilted down you would save 10” or so. They did not offer galvanized or aluminum. Only offer they had was a single or dual axel setup.
I plan on doing a video of it very soon. I can tell you top speed is 50mph give or take a little depending on how much boat is loaded. I had it in pretty rough water, trim up the motor to pick the bow up doing about 20mph you will be fine. Not a deep V so not smoothest in rough water. Motor is quiet at idle but can here it when you get on it. Been in water less than a foot with big motor and no problems at all. Super stable in the water too. I will hopefully have one out in a week or two going over all this.
Have had the 2072 for a little over 2 hrs now..love it! Was looking reference to putting a Bimini on mine as well. Can you tell the one you have, would like to order it. You spoke of the boat paint. I can say chips are getting me as well but I’m hard on mine as well. Rattle can took care of it and one of the reasons I ordered it other than a glass. Room for days as I guide and have no issue with taking a 4 person trip…stable as they come and a tank. Like those rod holder mounts you made up. Thx for the vid. TN Fishing Addiction if you want to see how I did the front of the boat up on RU-vid. Thx again
Thanks! I bought the Bimini off Amazon, it’s a 4 bow 8’Lx54Hx91”-96”W for I think $250. That width fits perfect right to the versatrack. Rod holders work great especially when the top is up, gonna add 2 more instead of just 4. I do need to do some touch up but that’s the nice thing about aluminum boats. I’ll definitely check your video out!
@@kraemersfishing4336 ended up getting a buddy to make me a rod rack for the back for catfishing. I can put 6 rods back there but the side holders I use for trolling. Front I rigged up for 2 people. Boat has room for days lol. I do like how the yours has that rim around the storage doors to keep water out and let it drain. Let me know if you figure out how to route your cables from up front to the rear. Mine seems to be sealed off at the live well. Tried a snake and other methods but can’t get one ran to connect my HB units
