I might be the last person in the world to try Erin Morgenstern, they seem to completely divide people. You dog's legs in the background 😂 I need to check out that ketchup.🍅
Really love how your pooch features in every video. Sorry you've been crook, hopefully you recover quickly now, & get back to creative productivity. I must get into the 'The Secret History', can't believe I haven't read it already - thanks for the prod. Doesn't 'The Night Circus' have a wonderful cover? I love Morgenstern. I'm about to upload a video on Lord Dunsany's 'The King of Elfland's Daughter', which Morgenstern introduces, so my video engages a lot with her ideas about this classic work of fantasy. I love her appeal for magic & mystery to sit beside rationalism & materialism as complimentary sources of knowledge.
Thank you! Hoping to be on the mend soon. Sam and Brenin are always the stars of the show! 🐾🐾 I’m really enjoying the night circus, full of whimsy and, as you say, the marriage of magic and reality.
Ruth Negga is the lead in a film called Iona. Very different but thought I’d mention it. Adored your dog on the sofa behind you (well his legs in the air 😂) that got me thinking about whether I prefer things tied off neatly or left a bit ambiguous… interesting 🤔 thanks for sharing 📚
Oooh I think I’d watch anything she’s in so I’ll definitely check Iona out. Sam is definitely the star of the show. 😂 I suspect I’m just a contrary fairy and don’t really know what I like!! Thank you so much for watching ♥️
Hello Keri and welcome to the booktube community! Reading vlogs are neat - it's relaxing to see people reading and talking about their reading like that. Best wishes with life outside of Booktube - real life can be challenging, but booktube can offer a respite from those challenges. Lol, my dogs snore too :)
Love a trip round a library! Glad you enjoyed Fragile Animals, I enjoyed it but didn't love the past bits so much. Those puppers are so cute!! And YES!! Happy down with Tories day!! Haha a chippy alley finish! 😬 Glad Pyramida went ok - phew. Siân xx
Other than Dracula, I haven't read any vampire books, I must! Thanks for this prod. There are some great covers there, too. What a glorious place to spend time with your hound (choc lab?) - wow. A poet meets a vampire, what could go wrong, sounds like a hoot. 'Fragile Animals' is a great title.
It’s a great trope and offers so much to explore. Vampire books can lean into most genres, not just horror, they work as camp, funny, dark academia etc. I’ve two pups, one a chocolate lab and the other a fox red lab. Thanks for watching ♥️
Ah, I have just bought the Folio Society deluxe edition of 'I Capture the Castle', can't wait to launch into it. 'The Harpy' sounds great. Ah, the RU-vid upload, a weird (often fraught) experience, isn't it? I also enjoy 'Broadchurch'. Have you seen the BBC musical drama series, 'Blackpool', which also features David Tennant? It's so moving, quite breathtaking.
I Capture The Castle was delightful. I challenge anyone to read it and not have a good time. I’ll check out Blackpool - sounds great! Thank you for watching ♥️
I think you are right about wrap ups from my side of things. I feel pressure oh have read enough books or quick I need to get this finished. I think that is why I am trying to talk weekly in up catch up about what I am reading and have finished. Just to see if I feel less pressure. I watched broadchurch when it was on TV, and from what I remember, I enjoyed the series. Although I don't remember series 3 .
Love that 'Premonitions' cover - wow. Oh boy, 'Early Morning Riser' has a stunning cover too, & what a great title. I've always meant to read Joanne Harris, don't know why I never have, thanks for the prod. I love a great book cover - judge away!
Yay for new books! I have also been meaning to read a long way to a small and angry planet and I am v excited to get to it as it is waiting for me on my shelf. I have been meaning to read yellowface as well for the longest time but the hype is making me nervous as well. The measure is a very interesting concept. Hope you enjoy all of these x
Oh my word Olivia, thank you so much for watching!! Love your channel! Ok I don’t want to hype A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet because expectations and all that but purleeeaasse read it soon!
Astonish me sound interesting. I do have a great circle on my TBR . I loved the painting you were talking about with the cherub on 😊 . Beautiful theatre. I am in love with the Dog .
Yes I had the poster of the cherubs as a teenager so it was cool to see the painting they’re from. Great Circle is wonderful, one of those books I enjoyed at the time but it’s grown on me more since. Thank you for watching Angela. ♥️ I really enjoyed making this video.
'butt wrenchingly sad' would be a better blurb. I didn't know Fearne Cotton had so many fans until this book came out, it does sound fun. My mum made us watch all Robson Green tv shows because she really fancied him so I remember Soldier Soldier 😂
Hello Keri. The only problem with watching other RU-vidrs channels is that it only increases the tbr. So many books and so little time! Happy reading to you.
I am sitting watching this in my oodie British Summertime 😂 never read any Becky Chambers books, but I have heard a lot about them on booktube. Maybe I will look into them . I buy books from vinted. You can get some good deals on there . I think Jane Fallon is a romance writer. I have read the one you mentioned. Just got real. I quite enjoyed it, although I do enjoy a bit of romance. I have put The Measure on my wishlist and did not know that the writer of The Accidental Medium was an actor you did mention in my comments that you had read that one . I have also put Scripted on my wishlist it sounds interesting. Thank you for a great Haul.
@BookishAdventuresInWellbeing I popped to my local library today to have a look it has been recently refurbished and was meant to be reopened, but unfortunately, not yet Was hoping to pick up one of her books .
Oh thank you so much for watching Angela! I’ve loved following your booktube journey and you’ve been an inspiration to jump on the band wagon and give it a go! 🥰
@BookishAdventuresInWellbeing so pleased you have because you come across lovely and natural in your videos. We do seem to seem to cross with some books, although I like romance and you are not a fan . I think watching others, you find books that you would not normally pick up, and our TBR gets bigger 😂 I have put a couple on my wishlist from your recent Haul.
Welcome to the video making side of booktube! I started me channel after I was made redundant and it definitely cheered me up, hope the same doesn't happen to you!
Thank so much for stopping by Aaron. Love your videos! We have a love of I Who Have Never Known Men in common! Keeping my fingers crossed at work but in the meantime, there’s always booktube!! ♥️
Another poetry booktuber - brilliant. I'm in! I read mainly poetry, especially contemporary, but also dabble in fantasy, magical realism & mythology - & then of course there's classics. Ah, I also live with a dog (the light of my life, an ex-racer, rescue greyhound named Billy-Blue). Do you know the Jonathan Stroud 'Bartimaeus Sequence' (Harry Potter/Artemus Fowl meets Yes Minister)? I write/read a lot about mental health also, probably my major subject actually, it's important, isn't it? Escapist fun & distraction sounds great to me. I look forward to following your adventures with books.
Fantastic! Billy-blue sounds like a great chap! I havnt heard of the bartimaeus sequence so will look that up, thank you. Thanks so much for watching. ♥️
Oh gosh Joy that’s really kind of you! I feel like I lose all ability to be articulate when in front of the camera! 🙈 Thank you so much for watching ♥️
So glad I found your channel! You have so many new-to-me books mentioned here 😁🫶 so refreshing to get some truly unique recommendations. I’m particularly interested in In An Absent Dream 👀 I’ll have to check out the first book in the series!
That’s so lovely of you! Please let me know if you give the Wayward Children series a go. I’d recommend trying the first and second book as that gives you a flavour of both the school plot and the worlds back stories. Thanks so much for watching! ♥️
Welcome to BookTube. Hope you feel better now. Looking forward to some bonkers videos and not so bonkers ones. I tried to have regular days where I filmed and edited, but I found that it began to feel like work too much. So now I do what I want when I want to do it. And this works for me. I still batch film most of the time, though.
Welcome to BookTube! I am SUCH a mood reader, but trying to gently introduce a bit more structure, as I do really want to work through my physical and virtual TBR. I love stories of found family too!
Hello Keri, welcome to book tube land. Still pretty new to all this business myself and working my way around the place. Best wishes with that you choose to read and to your channel. Happy reading.
Hi Keri and welcome to booktube! I’m so sorry to hear about the struggles of work, but I love how positive you attitude is, and love that this space is an outlet for you 💕💕
Welcome to BookTube!! So happy you’re here 🥰 Chaos and inconsistency is how I’ve been doing RU-vid for years, so you’re in good company! I definitely can’t give advice on planning or consistency as I’ve never been able to manage that, but I’d say just film when you can, talk about the stuff you’re loving reading, and be kind to yourself when you can’t upload 😊
You’re so kind Jen. Not me screenshotting the notification that a fav booktuber has subscribed for keeps! 🙈 I’ll definitely heed that advice. Thank you so much for watching. 🥰
Hi, Keri! I'm looking forward to hearing about all bookish things you want to share with us. From an oldie content creator to a newbie, welcome aboard. We're so glad to have you here!
I'd not heard of that Hilary Mantel and it sounds sooo good! I love the term "witch lit" - that's the first time I've heard it used. Great stack you have there!
Omg it’s so nice to see you do your own Summer Big 3!! 🥰 I’ve never heard of The Cloisters before but it sounds so good! That’ll be another book added to my TBR 😂
