I love the scenes of Paris in the fifties as l have got to know it well since then, even though I know this is a BBC production probably made in Pinewood studios 😂.

Miss these people, when families gathered round the telly, I can't find anything to watch and I'm 59, prefer old programs, mom also watches reruns of fools and horses, or heartbeat, to much sex and murder or people who what to be famous now

I always enjoy seeing Neville Jason aka Det. Lapointe. Pity the series ended. Maigret at Bay, 1969 is a great coda..

*No need for car chases, shoot outs, or fistfights, in such gripping English middle class drama with all the excitement of murder mysteries. English police dramas are better than the French, better than the Danish, better than the Americans, because they are the best in the world.*

*The women in this cast appear to be English middle class, privately educated. They have frightfully affected accents.*

He may not have been working with G&S here but it is Tony's voice, delivery of lines, timing that still makes this a joy to experience. Thanks for uploading.

Maigret has always seemed very dull and pedestrian compared to Poirot and Mrs Marple.

Try the books, or the French tv with Bruno Cremer. This Maigret here suffers in translation.

No matter what you think of these episodes, it's a fact that there isn't a single line from any of them that people quote. I have to be honest and say that I have never heard anyone quote these or talk about the stories. Not even the title of an episode.

I have been a lifelong fan of Tony Hancock. I watched this series when it was first transmitted and am glad to have found this episode. The decline of his career was a tragedy that sadly ended in his suicide in a hotel room in Sidney, Australia.
