Hey Ben! I started by running a stock Charvel Bello with the P pickup soloed into a Tech 21 Street Driver: EQ at noon and drive at 9 o clock. On the HP2 I have both Punch and Bright engaged, with the LPF set around 10 o’ clock. The built in compression on the HP2 is always in parallel, so even maxed out it never gets noticeably squishy or pumpy, and I had it set around 12 o’clock for this.
@@MatthewtheBassPlayerThe Matthew - Bello - Bello - Bergantino chain 😂 Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate it. So interesting that the drive comes from a pedal and because of parallel compression the low end is still so clean and punchy!
Doesn’t matter what bass he touches, everything he plays has amazing production, great hand technique to emote and creative genre breaking riffs. Good shit as always
@Bergantino Audio It sounds almost like there is a clean signal and a distorted signal during the distortion part. Do you know if he recorded separate tracks and then blended them or if this was one track of bass? Either way it has me wanting a Dingwall and a Super Pre!
Hey! Thanks for the kind words. This was litrally just the pre with the settings shown on screen, so a single track and no tracking / anything extra. The pedal is fantastic at keeping the low end intact and I didn't really have to do much to adjust it to sound to my taste. Hope that helps!
@@D20band Oh yeah good point! The bass pre was active in this. So the whole chain was: Dingwall ABII 5 (with Stainless Steel strings) with glockenklang preamp activated (totally flat EQ) within the bass > Bergantino Super Pre with settings shown > Logic Pro with no other processing. Let me know how else I can help and thanks again for the kind words of support, always appreciated <3
@@hilltide8577 I thought of more questions. Do you think it is possible to get close to your tone if I bought a Combustion with pao ferro board and put a Glockenklang pre in it? I know the super pre plays into it also but just wanted to hear your opinion? Also thank you so much for answering my questions! Super awesome of you!
Nice chops!!! How would you describe the difference between the Reference II and the NXT cabs? One member on Talk Bass describes the Ceramic magnets in the REF having more low end presence/ body
That's probably a good description but it's pretty subtle. I have the REFII 12 and 15- at lower volumes, there doesn't seem much difference and if anything, they need a bit of a bass boost on the amp but when the volume level rises there is a fullness and power that seems to be more 3 dimensional and the decay of the note is fuller, or at least different. You can really feel it- the REF cabs hold together beautifully under pressure. I have been very happy with mine and wouldn't consider swapping them for anything else I have played anywhere.
This is really helpful- you've absolutely smashed it out of the park with this one. Easy to use, the compressor is magnificent and the drive tones organic and lovely. Already have an HP Forte but this will make a huge difference when ampless and recording.
